  • What Brand is your Baritone, And what Brand is your 42 string?

    tmckee

  • And I was kinda 15...

  • I heard Pat at Mt Baker Theatre in Bellingham, WA last year. Since he is one of the Masters of his instrument and in jazz the entire program was moving. The Orchestrion was amazing and something new (an accomplishment in itself). However I must say my favorite part of the evening was his solo acoustical work.

  • Cherishing this video. Thanks Pat. What's amazing to me is no longer your mastery of the instrument, but the ease of your navigating through the alternate tuning you employ. They seem endless. Not to mention how your touch makes that guitar sound so incredible sweet, though so modest it may appear. Feel blessed just listening.

  • Maestro

  • não há como descrever o indescritível! grandioso demais!

  • ficou perfeita... <3

  • AFter listening to pat metheny, I have become a convert from a rock n roll guy to jazz

  • amazingly beautiful

    Bravo

  • Pat:

I think it is cool that you have posted these HD masterpieces on YouTube. I have been aware of you for many years. When RS gets some since, you will be in the top 100 with other major talents who were overlooked!

    Andrew

  • It just sounds like a piece written for two guitars, and two guitarists playing it. What a deep, deep sound.

  • 240 or 720, 3 mics or an 80's dictaphone, everyone one of these videos would ring true

  • **********M*******************

  • nothing fancy only music,slow...i mean, everybody could play it.but to write it imean.........damn!

The most simple and amazing music i've ever heard

  • Very soothing...

  • I so want to play along to this song.

But I can't seems to figure out the tuning and the Snare order :(

    Please Mr.Metheny if you've read this...tell me

  • @Takrezz I'm pretty sure he's playing a Baritone guitar; if this is the case, it would most likely be A D G C E A

  • @MrDietotenhosen A baritone guitar? I never knew that

    thank you so much

  • Great rendition! Mr. Metheny , your one of the reason why still I don't give up on my guitar... I still pick up my guitar & play... Thanks idol!

  • Wow... great 60's tune... Pat you're my guitar idol!

  • Has anybody found anything on a tuning for this? I've been trying to learn it, but i cant figure out the tuning.

  • Wow Pat wow

  • So rich...wish your kickoff concert in Pittsburgh was not sold out.

  • Lovely, slightly changed up from what ended up on the album which has a lovely chorus not present here. My favorite track on the album.

  • This is the most beautiful piece of music i heard in a long time.

  • Ottimo...!!

  • wow!!!

How beautiful you made that beautiful tune-thanks.

  • damn time: no turning back, relentless .. no returns

  • Beautiful Pat. Absolutely stunning. I happened to hear this playing at my local Starbucks in Cyprus and it brought back so many wonderful memories of a song I always loved. And I am so happy I found it here on youtube and found you! I hope this is on an album???

  • O Brasil ama voce (loves you)

  • Nice. What tuning is that?

  • It started out nice.

  • nice guitar.

  • The Big 60s

  • Thank you for this beautiful arrangement. It is inspirational.

  • Fantastic

  • nice nice nice, forever!

  • This is a very nice performance indeed of a favourite of mine. Its a classic, if not a standard. Nicely controlled guitar and the intricate harmonies at the end most convincing.

  • Was this done like "One Quiet Night"? That is, baritone / Memphis tuning?

  • @scotty8m8

One Quiet Night- is one of the most moody and peace giving albums.I like it very much. The sound of an accoustic guitar makes that special atmosphere which lets you to get some rest and silence in your interior. No one makes it better than Patrick Metheny.

  • Briliant. Pure. Pure brilliance. ThankyouThankyou. I've loved this song since first swaying to it at a high school dance. Not many years later, I learned about an amazing artist named 'Metheny'. Don't look now, but I think the planets just aligned.

  • Briliant. Pure. Pure brilliance. ThankyouThankyou. I've loved this song since first swaying to it at a high school dance. Not many years later, I started listening to Pat's amazing music. Now, the planets seem to have aligned so nicely in 'What's it all About'

  • I left the planet listening to this one! Blissful! Seriously!

  • with whole my heart.

    amazing peace

  • Man! I have GOT to get me a Nashville strung guitar set up!

  • He might not the most skillful guitarist ever, but his playing always touch our hearts. Beautiful... Very beautiful Mr Pat Metheny!

  • CHERISHING ... WITH ALL MY HEART .... FOR AN ETERNITY OR TWO

    DEAR BELOVED PAT

    KISSES FROM MEXICO CITY*

    ,) Mine ..jajaja..

  • I am waitng for Borders to open, so I can get my copy. Thanks Pat!

  • Where did you record this? Sand on the ground was it under a old building or outside? Wonderful playing btw ; )

  • @DaleCampbellAcoustic Jejeje, its pat metheny men, you don't know him? Its a genious.

  • @rwsteppenwolf Of course I know who Pat Methney is ; ) doesn't mean I can't say he played well though it does go without saying a bit : )

  • @DaleCampbellAcoustic

You think it's some obscure fool playing in his garage or something of the sort? This comment must be the most depressing I've ever read in my life. And straight from the heart..

  • @kumachuui You are over-reacting : ) Why can't someone compliment a player and also ask something about the room used in the recording - it looks like an interesting place.

    P.S. Why is it depressing?

P.P.S. Why bring all your anger to a comment thread on such a fantastic piece of music?

  • Beautiful! Perfect!

  • sweeet
