  • I think the problem you are experiencing has to do with the pump and/or bowl is that the plastic has become worn, or has accumulated a film/skin that is bonding.

A new pump may be a solution, but frankly, for the price, replacement may be a better option. You should also consider the Pioneer Pet Ceramic designs, as they are similar in size to the Original Fountain.

  • I have the Drinkwell Original. Prior to that I had the Platinum but it was to large for two cats and I like to change the water more often so I went to the smaller and easier to clean fountain. My problem with the original is that the motor doesn't come out without a struggle and in the last week I have not been able to budge it. What is going on?

  • This product is very popular with PET SUPERMARKET customers, and is a fantastic product.

  • Very helpful - I'd been wondering which one to get, and I think I'll be settling for the Platinum,. Thanks!

  • Hallelujah.... I finally got a reply :) ... ya i figured that out already :P

  • my original Drinkwell is making loud noise, really loud. its not as gentle as it is publicized to be.

  • @halqubai Mine does that if I don't clean it good. The little Motor comes apart which I didn't know at first and sometimes it gets hair inside it...... Hope this helps.. I have six little dogs. I have the platinum. Its great. I just ordered a new Reservoir and mat for it. I dropped the reservoir and cracked it. I used gorilla glue. ha ha. doesn't leak but looks bad....................
