I am sickened that this Australian women got famous instantly for 1. making up a B.S. story around an actual shooting and 2. Sputtering out Racial Slurs.
The band Saliva came out with a song called Click Click Boom Which is the first thing I thought of when I watched that girl say "chk-chk boom" I agree with what you're saying 100% Kat!

You can't blame Youtube or bloggers on this one. This was put out on live television. It's the fault of the news crew. There have always been news crews and news stations that cut corners for sensationalism and ratings instead of getting facts.

You just named many of the reasons I got out of my journalism major. Sad part is, I don't think it will end any time soon. It's all about ratings and pleasing their advertisers. REAL reporting and digging for a story is dying out. (At least from what I have studied and read).

In the last few years, the news media has become nothing but a joke! Whatever happened to the hard-boiled investigative reporters from back in the day, they've been replaced by talking heads that only read what the corporate advertisers put on their tele-prompters.
I agree to you. I think in general it's getting more and more difficult for any form of media. Critial thinking can be supported with a media mix to approve the news. There are so many great tools and sources to do this. This is my experience over the last years.
