Thanks, Wren, I really enjoyed your special review of this particular. I remember reading it in college, and thoroughly enjoying it. I hope to hear more of your book reviews. Heck, I might hear you review something I had written.
You haven't lived until you read the book reviewed as an economic treatise on free silver vs. (anything like) the Federal Reserve system, or fiat money in general.
Loved the striptease, but your actions removed your head from the screen on at least two occasions; your face & eyes are your most expressive features...please don't hide them even momentarily.
And you are indeed lovely w/ your hair down; I hadn't previously noticed that you're a red-head...I must be getting old.
Oops: I hadn't yet read 'xbluexastrayx ' comment when I wrote the above..."EXCUUUUUSSE ME!"
So let me jump in w/ the observation that Dorothy, through no fault of her own, is directly complicit in the death of the two witch sisters, & not only doesn't get punished, but is sent home, ie, receives her heart's desire. Man-slaughter, er ah, witch-slaughter is clearly not a serious business in the land of Oz.
I think that Prof. Marvel/The Wizard as a politician is insightful.
Isobel you should be on the red carpet tonight out in Hollywood, having been nominated in the Best Actress category. You're such a great actress because you sell your role so convincingly. You're also drop-dead gorgeous!
The minute you take off the rose colored glasses, Oz takes a b-line from the squeaky clean children's reading. The yellow brick road represents the gold standard, the scarecrow is symbolic of disenfranchised farmers and the tinman is dehumanized workers in the rising urban industrial machine..
And of course once you see these things it's next to impossible to go back to the way things were. All in all though it makes the work that much more endearing. Read the sequels if you haven't yet!
