@CheeseBivaK it seems he hits with it for 2k, and even if it were, its 1k more than nothing.one of the issues of shadowplay is that the opponents stay low most of the time but cant be killed cause beginners in shadowplay cant provide that extra burst to kill something. thats where mindblast swd combo for shadowpriests comes in, thats where searing pain spam to provide that extra dmg comes in. and its also used here in shatterplay.

@KoreaBurn searing pain for affliction warlocks is in a different spell tree, so if they get counterspelled in the searing class (destruction) they can free cast any affl tree spell.

focus targets make it more efficient to use fear and focus curse of tongues, as well as devour magic and spell lock.

Good players still use searing pain at certain times, despite buffs to fel flame, because it adds another thing to the list of stuff the other player has to watch for when looking to CS/pummel you, other than just predicting regular jukes. No one will burn a pointless blanket CS on you at that rating if all you're doing is fel flaming... 3's is a lot more psychological than most people think due to the relatively balanced nature of it.
