Turns out you don't understand what the iPhone antenna design flaw is. It's not the "death grip" blocks signal. It's that you are touching the antenna, on the outside of the phone, causing it to lose reception.
there is a big difference that Apple don't mention or show. you can drop the signal of the iPhone with a touch of a finger bridging the two antenas gaps YOU DO NOT HAVE TO "DEATH GRIP" it to drop the call and signal all the way. you could not do that with the blackberry
@gurtygurt64 Who holds any phone like that, the purpose of the video is to demonstrate that almost any phone reacts with signal attenuation when held in the "death grip". I think the media coverage this has received is stupid, and my video probably doesn't help. Concerned about getting an iPhone 4? Go and buy one if you don't like it return it.
@gurtygurt64 I don't think thats a strange way of holding it... just face it, all phones can potentially have this issue not just the iPhone.. depends on the area and cell signal.
Y'all still don't get it. The iPhone 4 doesn't have any more issues than some other phones. It's all a media frenzy, and we've all bought in on the Apple/iPhone bashing. Every phone has flaws, and some have antenna issues identical to that of the iPhone 4. CAN WE PLEASE MOVE ON TO ANOTHER TOPIC!! THIS ONE IS DONE!!!
@mjbckr It's only naturally where you put your hand if you're left handed. I don't deny that there's an issue with the iPhone 4 reception, it's discouraging to even me, and I've been using Apple computers, phones and iPods since 2000...
You dont hold a phone like that when making a call. With the iPhone, you just need to short the contact point with 1 finger and it should drop. Now what if those phone companies did a 1 finger test. And then gave a 1 finger salute to Steve. Fun indeed !
@Querido17 .... It depends on the signal strength in your area. Apparently, weak signal areas are more prone to the problem. I've seen other YouTube videos where the Bold 9700 bars drop; just like the iPhone 4.
@alxbengosu ... who the fuck are talking to?!?! I know what the fuck happens, and I know where the freakin antenna is on the iPhone. Fact is, the iPhone is not the only phone that has this issue. PERIOD! Regardless of where the antenna is. Idiot.
@alxbengosu ... and, NO, it only occurs in areas with a lower signal strength. I tried it with my iPhone at home (with 5 bars and cell tower close) and nothing happened. Then I tried it in another area with a lower signal and the bars dropped slightly.
Cant Do it, I think Iphone 4(Particularly) fails in more common holding positions than competitors like Nokia, Blackberry etc

Tried this and it does nothing. If I hold the entire left side with two hands I lose one bar. But who the hell holds their phone like that?

@Lzanski Fair point. One should research and try before you buy before investing in any major product such as a phone.

lol do you hold your phone like that? The Iphone's antenna gets grounded frequently because it's right where you naturally put your hand.
