  • He solves faster than i scramble

  • he scrambles faster than i solve O.O

  • i might go watch some pom - Thumbs up if you mis-read!

  • rubiks brand?awesome!

  • audio*

  • ur audop sucks, and i go too quickly, and dont even explain what ur doing, or how u spot what u do.....

  • whey is every body starting at white then yellow and not green and blue

  • @thelastair1 because they're not colour neutral like you. some people like to solve it white and yellow, but those who solve it green and blue or red and orange, then you're colour neutral

  • @Thejeditusken2 colour neutral ?????whats that im just used to green blue i have done it for years but thanks man could u send me a link or something becuse i want to read more about this

  • @thelastair1 look for Thrawst's 4th tip of the week video and it will explain colour neutrality

  • @Thejeditusken2 soooooo does this mean thats 42 sec vill allweys be my record and i did it with beginner style should i learn fridrich system or not and do you now hot to flip middle peaces like corner white middle red whithe at red=bad how do i flip

  • @thelastair1 learn fridrich, it will lower your time to about 20 average. i use fridrich and i get 40 average

  • @Thejeditusken2 nice go to a competiton mean it ur better then me

  • @thelastair1 i just signed up for one

  • @Thejeditusken2 cool they dont have competitons in sweden not so many like nerver :(

  • @thelastair1 - Not everyone started learning with green cross. I learned with green cross because of the booklet that comes with the cube written by Dan Knights (AKA the same method that Dan Brown uses) but switched to white cross because most tutorials were with white. Now I'm trying to be color neutral so I can use any color.

  • @xxoxia ok good i know that we havent talk on a long time but i beated my rekord with f2l and some oll and pll.s my pb rekord is 35.70sec how have you been doing and i think i sended you a video but my comp crashed and i need that vid do you have it somewhere on you computer

  • @thelastair1 - No, it wasn't me that you talked to. I just saw your conversation with thejeditusken and thought I'd comment on it.

  • @xxoxia ..... i feel so dumb right now its 01:08 here and im tired school tomorow so i kinda of missed the name

  • Kan je ook een nederlandse guide maken als je tijd hebt dat helpt veel bij mij.

  • In een andere tutoriul moet het kruis gelijk zijn aan de centra moet dat hier ook.

  • 3:59 a nice j permutation

  • What do u use to lube your cube(s)?

  • @SkaterJacob14 silicone is my best guess bro

  • i dink you needd a dishoe

  • what cube do you use?

  • helpful, thanks!

  • I solve the cross on right is that ok

  • I learned without algs right from the start but i ´m wasting too much time when i do F2L.

  • wat is een goede manier om te scramblen? ik krijg altijd heelveel dezelfde bij elkaar...

  • @the1nonlyevilelmo download the (free) program "calcubetimer", which gives you randomly generated scrambles and lets you stop the time you need to solve aswell

  • mampus.. kakehan gaya sih...

  • How did you grease your rubiks.com cube? That's impossible!

  • @Hylkinder Hahahaha, that's not impossible. You take an edge out, and put silicone in the cube. I have a storebought that I lubed, and it's just like a DIY. Even better than some of my DIY's actually.

  • thank u so much.

can u give me a useful hint?

I've learned F2L without algorithms just intuitively. I got way faster than I was before with the beginners method.

    BUT... I'm still quite slow.

Would you recommend stupidly learning algorithms (according to F2L) or do you think F2L Speed comes with practicing the intuitive way?

    btw: U are the BEST!

  • @5i1v3rStorm, i'm not erik but i was in your exact position once, intuitively is MUCh better, every good cuber knows what they are doing during the f2l, not just repeating algs. it's all practice

  • @5i1v3rStorm - Intuitive and algorithmic F2L weren't really used terms for these advanced cubers. The only reason those terms came about was because of monkeydude. Most of the advanced cubers really hate splitting the F2L into these categories, and prefer to just think of it as one thing. Most of them also started learing F2L by using algs, as well. I started with the algs from cubestation and developed into my own style from there. Don't listen to the corporate cubers.

  • You can solve a cube faster than I can scramble one.

  • I must have watched this video about 100 times in the past 3 years. I don't know why, it's just fun. I remember when I first saw the headphone wire, I thought it was your hair.

  • how do u solve the top whats the method for that ?

  • @Bigshotchunk117 - You have to learn OLL and PLL. Erik knows a wide variety of LL algs in addition to OLL and PLL, though. He also knows COLL, and ELL, which can come in handy sometimes, but I'm too lazy to learn them. I find it sufficient enough knowing OLL and PLL. It took months to learn them, so I figured why not use them?

  • As many times as I've watched this, I've never known.... what kind of cube was this?

  • ok this has thaught me nothing...

i really dont understand how that helps anyone...

  • I was using the beginner solution for a while now

I started using the fridrich method a few days ago and i am a beginner

I mixed some fridrich algorithms with begginner algorithms and now i average about 35 seconds

  • Hey, I know this is an F2L vid but what was the pll case at 4:00 and what was the algorithm you solved it with? I assume it was a bit of an adaption of yours?

  • @thesmadaman It was a J-perm , but I don't know how he solve it^^. I solve it with

    R' U2 R U R' U2 L U' R U L'

  • @Bboycube1 Yeah, thanks. I thought that, but his algorithm put me off. He's a bit of a freak!

  • @frk17 hoe wordt een kubus gemixt op een (wereld)kampioenschap?

  • Dude, you are supercool!!

  • You are extremely good at what you are doing, and I respect that. But you could use some practice explaing what you do. I didn't learn anything from this video. You say "then you move this" that doesn't explain anything.

  • @HarboeDrinker F2L in this method is completely intuitive. You could waste your time learning all the algs but learning how the cube works makes you better at recognizing situations and getting faster. I personally think this was a good explanation.

  • @frk17 kun je een nederlandse tutorial make over de Fildrich methode? want ik snap niks van die engelse

  • >.> idk i dont make sure i fully use fredrick... only when it is practically set up. i checked my time for 2 layers for beggining and fredrick ... there both roughtly around 20 sec

  • wich cube are you using???please answer quick

  • holy shit....the sound of fucking...lol..

  • nice tutoial!

but i think you should already know some basics before watching this video

  • hahaahah nederlands!!!! xD

  • @therubixguy thanks. I'll do that.

  • not very clear, is it ? ''if i do dis, then i can do dis ???'

  • Where is the camera? I hope to make cubing videos soon.

  • @ComputerPR0 You put it between your body and the cube so you are looking over

    the camara

  • Good video thumbs up

  • nederlands haha

  • You do realize that this camera can't really film your moves, right? :P

  • may you make another video and divide it into parts?

    it will be more helpful.

    anyway thanks nice tut.

  • damn it still too fast sometimes lol

  • this was your best video because you slowed it down very much but could you also make a video with more explanation I think we could all benifit from this lesson from the world champion

  • Wat voor kubus is dat? Die 3x3x3 van jou klinkt (En beweegt volgens mij ;P) een stuk lekkerder dan die van mij.

  • how do you rotate the cube so fast? :O

  • i didn't understand anything....

this thing is not for me....

  • very good explanation. im down to 35seconds average!

  • je kan horen dat je nederlands bent =)

  • tja boeie :P

  • @change139

Dat hoor je bij alle Nederlanders... Behalve Jaap S ;).

  • @Supersep96 practice! first i finnished f2l in maby 50 sec and now i do it in 25-30 after lots of training!

  • Comment removed

  • @omfq I hate to break it to you, but that's still not good, its better, but not good. At that level, you need to slow down your turning and look ahead at your next pairs.

  • kan je ook een keer een tut maken in het Nederlands? Het hoeft niet maar toch bedankt ;)

  • dammm you do the oll and pll fast!!!

but of course thats is wut i would expect from the world champ

  • ok pointer, when you say i see this corner and this edge.... what are we looking for so we know exactly what you mean

  • it's that a store bought or diy

  • is f2l method confirm will be in 30 sec?

  • hisssssssss voicccccccce makes me sleeeeeepyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Mooie manier om te solven!

  • has anyone else tried using Pam cooking spray for a lubricant???

It worked pretty good on mine, but i don't know if it will have any long term effects.

  • @pianoman159 try petrol jelly mate. ya know, vaseline? it works much better.

  • ha! i did a while back but it didn't do anything for me. My c4u diy finally came in and i bought some jig-a-loo silicone lubricant and it is fantastic!!!

  • @pianoman159 maybe for a bit but eventually it will get sticky petroleum jelly or Vaseline would be ur best way to go it will work and no long term effects

  • oh dear, ive forgotted this OLL (performs with blinding speed) oh, now i remember

  • I reached about 1 minute for the begginer's method and I've reached 49 seconds with fridrich F2L=finger tricks but i don't know oll's.

  • too fast... need to slow down.

  • rigth now i use the beginners method and im at 1minute and 10 seconds.rigth now im trying the fridrich for less 1minute

  • @allenchen : Dont learn fridrich until you can get at least sub 30 with beginners method... or just use keyhole..

  • i dont think you can pass through 40 sec using begineers method

  • hell yeah you can

  • any evidence?

  • i self cant but a frend of mine can so here

  • ya u can. my friend solves it in 35 seconds using beginners method

  • @saintlavin you can lol... you can get sub 20 averages with beginners method...

  • @saintlavin who knoiws? haha, I did 53 last time >.<. I saw someone doing the cross on bottom with the beginners method.. That someone *may* get lower than 40s I believe =P

  • @saintlavin i did

  • @saintlavin yeah my best (non lucky) using the beginners method is about 31.xx seconds

  • @saintlavin if you were ninja :)

  • @saintlavin i got 57, close :D

  • @saintlavin I mangaged 13

  • @saintlavin yes he can..watch his video..

  • @saintlavin my record is 23.82 with beginners method.

  • @saintlavin If you can't then you are very nooby.... hate to say it but it is easy to get faster than 40 secs with beginners method I avg about 25 secs using it. Though I prefer the advance method

  • @saintlavin I am still using the beginners method and my fastest record was 28 seconds with a OLL skip.

  • @saintlavin I did

  • @saintlavin i got 30....thats about as fast as anyone is going to get ill admit

  • @saintlavin i can`t say that i happens very often but i passed it many times with the beginners method

  • @saintlavin unless u get a lucky solve :D

  • @saintlavin i can only get 52

  • @saintlavin I actually used to rub a sub-30 layer by layer.

  • @saintlavin I actually used to run a sub-30 layer by layer.

  • @saintlavin i got close, 43 seconds specifically dan browns method except i sole the first side without using the cross

  • You guys do know that he is the world record holder!?!?!?

  • @ronnol14 duh!

  • @ronnol14 its like 7 sec

  • nog sneller idioot

  • u too fast ...cnt c anythg mayb i'm noob

  • hey ive ben looking for at good explenation (with glorithems written) on the full jessica Fredrich method. like full explenation on f2l, oll and pll. were can i find that... ohh and were did YOU lern this method?.

  • What do you use to make your cube faster?

  • well i use silicone spray, i dunno what its actually used for but it works very well:)

  • vasaline helps

  • silicone spray works better, and doesn't slowly degrade the cube. My cube was like liquid after I used silicone

  • vasaline destroys the cube?

  • Oils degrade plastic, but it's not like it will spontaneously 'splode if you use Vaseline

  • yep, use silicone spray instead

  • aiya, this eric...i noe la u pro..bu tdun la so fast..aiya...u wan to show ppl that u can do it faster..that oni..coz i cant c and hear your voice clearly

  • erik i 3days new to cube and can do it in 2:10:01(i cant understand ur vid)????????

  • u have to atleast beable to get 45 secounds with beginners to do fridrich or its not even worth it buddy

  • not really. i was barely sub 60 with begginers. it all depends on how much you practice

  • Well it would be easyier if u did lol

  • i was at 5:00 with beginners then i learned fredrich went to 6:00 then it just jumped to 1:30 as i understood it... still have not learned all the plls and olls

  • Geez and I thought I was slow I usally get around 20-30 secs

  • i am new to speed cubing, and I have a store bought rubiks cube unlubricated and don't know pll's or oll's = (

  • 1:30?!?!?!!?1 I just learned how to cube a few days ago and get under 2 mins with straight beginners method!!

  • i now know full pll half the olls and average 25 seconds... back then all parts of my fredrich was terrible

  • Dude, that is awesome. I was about halfway through memorizing the Fridrich F2L algs, but I never really realized that they could be intuitive. :p This vid just saved me a lot of time.

Also, what kind of cube do you use? I bet if I had a cube that turned that smooth I would shave at least 10-15 seconds off my average.

  • i thought he use a diy type c

  • If you have a rubiks brand you can make it into a rubiks brand DIY by getting springs and screws (and optionally a new core) from cubeforyou. The mod costs about 2 dollars to do and makes the cube similar in turning to a DIY or Edison (or other high end cube).

P.S. You cannot easily adjust the screws on a rubiks DIY

P.P.S. I dont think he is using a home modded Rubiks brand cube

  • thx i was trying to find a video tht explaind the hard cases intuitively, this worked perfectly.

  • dude i can solve a rubiks cube but only one side i can do one side ded simple but the others are mixed up

  • Dear Eric.

As much as I am facinated by your technique I feel that you need a more basic totorial on F2L than this. One where you take things A LOT slower. I loved this video and it was very helpful, but it would have helped even more if you went REAL slow.

  • 4:00 was fucked up. awsome tutorial :P

  • i have the same keyboard :D

  • bro is there a faster way for doing the third layer like u did it real fast

  • NOt really, Fridrich remains so far the fastest way of solving LL, with a maximum of 2 algs if you know all cases...

  • im so iliteritate this is porbably a good tutorial but i couldnt understnad anything u were talkin bout

  • what?

  • i understood much this video than other ones

  • lol are you guys actually hating on erik? you know hes the fastest solver in the world (not counting yu's unofficial sub 7 solve)

  • he himself did a 6.28 unofficial solve too :P

  • bad sound. can't watch this

  • Thats right

I haven't see that so old sorry

  • It thats your old or it's that the news one (wich it is ? )

  • you can see that it's from April 2007, I was cubing like... 1.5 years then, can't really call that new eh?

  • u didnt explain all of the situations. my edge piece is flipped the wrong way. plz reply

  • Comment removed

  • so its ment to look like that in the end, right?

  • nice!

  • seriously. I am not much of a genius and can explain this better than you

  • First of all, proof please.

Second, who knows I could actually do sth with that and make a new better F2L video for my full speedcubing tutorial.

  • i agree with genraz. your solution made no sense what so ever. and before you say you want proof that i cand better. think about this could i prove to you that i can make a better F2L explanation if i dont know how to do it. i mean really would i be watching this explanation if i already know the F2L

  • i like this explanation

  • lol

  • fuck you

  • Kid apparently you dont know who youre talking to. This guy is the best of the best.

This guy is a god as far as I can see.
