Translating and reading the Bible in English

Remember the Roman Catholic Church. The legend has it one of the founders of that Church was a fellow named St. Peter the Apostle. The whole thing was started when Jesus put his hand on Peter and told him you are the rock upon which I build my new church.

The King James version is a translation of a translation. Some versions of the King James Bible are worse than others (i.e. the version Baptists use) but most of them give constant subtle jabs at the Catholic Church and in some spots outright condemnations by Jesus himself. Then they have this little threat at the end of the whole mess saying "GOD" wrote this and you're destined to burn in hell if you so much as change one word. You should look for the New American Bible. It's the Catholic one.

hmmmm I was just getting around to watching this as I am loathe to discuss religion and put out my point of view as it brings out trolls. Really nasty ones with hairy teeth hahahaha. Google search the "Dead Sea Scrolls". That there is the main manuscript for the Latin translated Bible book known as the Gutenberg Bible.The Gutenberg is actually the first modern print version of the Bible as it appears today. The original texts are ancient Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic. I have a couple of photos.

Well said. Couldn't agree more. One of the main defenses of the some of the more abhorrent verses in the koran is that we're not "reading it right" I.e the English version is a bad translation or we dont fully understand the language used.

People should be allowed to translate anything they like into any language they like - Any confusion over meanings or ethical implications should then be cleared up along the way by scholars from all sides. Hopefully the good messages will outshine the bad.
