@ilandgeek What do you mean? If you mean the higher cost, then yeah I agree. I can usually find just about every gun I've bought cheaper but this shop has a one year layaway. Every time I buy a new gun, I put another on layaway. Although I've never usually wait more than 3 months to pick them up, it's nice to have that cushion just in case something goes wrong in life. I know I could just save and buy cheaper but there's no fun in that. :0) Thanks for watching.
@wolvee123 i meant because of all the different problems you've had with the guns because my dad has the same and he still uses the factory tac ops mags. higher price for less quality item isn't worth it to me. i know they're all the same gun but some gunshops get the overstock. and wanna raise the price. buy them online freind
Sad man. That prooves the G. Carlin's bit, god bless his soul, : "can't make tv or vcr worth a fuck, but we can fuck'n bumb you allright". I'm an immigrant, and it make me sad that I can be less and less proud of my new country. Corporate greed will destroy this glorious nation some day:(
Nice review. It make me think twice before buying the US made Sig. Love Tacops version though. Naybe I'll by a german Sig and megwell grips/mec gar mags separately
When I watched your first video of this gun, you pulled the slide off without decocking the hammer. As soon as I saw that I said to myself, he's going to bend that trigger bar, and now your doing a vid about it. You have to decock the gun before you pull the slide off on all Sigs with a SRT trigger, it's in the manual.
Open your manual to page 35, 8.1 Pistol Disassembly, in RED it reads "Note Steps 5 and 6 are not applicable to SRT models. See Appendex C." Appendex C is on page 75 and reads "As the slide reaches its closed position, decock the pistol. This will allow the SRT safety lever to completely retract so the slide can be fully removed from the frame." READ YOUR MANUAL.
First off, who at Sig watched your video, a customer service rep? It definitely wasn't an armorer, they would've noticed you not decocking the pistol right away. Secondly, I specifically asked a gun smith why we need to decock the hammer when removing the slide and he said that the trigger bar could get bent if you don't. I do agree with you on the mags though, they suck.
I was having trouble with the slide locking back as well but i realized that it was me touching the slide release. i think the mec gar mags work better because the spring has a little more tension to push the catch up.
@mcbarker11 Thanks, It's a Sony HDR-SR11 Handycam. There are better models out now for cheaper. If you have an older dual core PC like I do editing the nearly dead .MTS format can be a challenge.
@vdub5818 I shoot the HK better, probably because of the ergonomic but the trigger is crap compared to the TacOps. After putting 1500 rounds through the HK I sold the TacOps to a friend. I miss the Tacops but I want to train w/ one platform at a time.
@MrSNIPERRecon Yes but you'll need to make sure you seat the mag correctly. If you notice the grips come down over the magwell. If you're doing a speed reload you may encounter a failure to seat since the grip may get in the way.
Most new Sig owners that shoot two thumbs high don't realize that they cause the slide not to stay licked back. The best way is a couple rounds shoot one handed and you will see. It's you!
@thenowandaway I've shot over 1k rounds just figuring out the problem. I wish it was just me but it's not. It's the mags. I haven't had a single failure to hold open with the any of the 4 meg-gar mags that I have now.
@wolvee123 I actually had a problem at first with the slide not locking back as well. I bought the gun brand new. What I did was for about a week I left an empty magazine in the firearm and locked back the slide. After a week I never had the problem again. I've put about 600 rounds through it since then.
Still waiting for it though. Its been about 2 wks without it after waiting 2.5 months for it. Pretty frustrating paying almost $1k for a gun I dont have to shoot. Not cool. I own a p226 w. germany that has been flawless. I agree with you Wolvee. QA has gone down hill. I decided that I am getting a Glock 27 for my CCW. Was going to get the sig ultra nitron 1911. Oh well. Thanks for sharing Wolvee. I have 5 mecgar mags on order.
I had issues with mine before firing round 1. I sent it back to sig and they are replacing it. However, quality and customer service is bad. Scott at Sig stepped in and corrected the issue but the customer service rep I was dealing with is HORRIBLE. Told me once they received it that it would be up to 2 wks to even look at the gun because repairs/service were backed up. Not a repair...crap that was shipped to me that needed replaced. It wasnt in for service. I love the gun and cant wait to shoot
Hi buddy just wanted to say that I have a tac ops in 40 cal and sad you went through that I haven't had any issues with my 226 tac ops I love it just like you do but I guess I have a good one and for who has bad customer service colt it's the worst.. So how is it running with the new mags??
Sorry to hear about ur bad experience. I have a Sig 226 E2 with 3 mags and a Sig .357 and .40 barrel have shot both calibers about 300 rnds in total and only had one time that I had to tap rack don't know what cause it if I put my thumb on the slidc or bad ammo or wut no problems since. I heard u say that Metgar mags make it easier for IWB are u able to IWB the sig 226 I find it too heavy and big for that wut holster are u using?
@wolvee123 my friends dad took his 226 tac op to the gunsite 250 pistol course put around 1500 rounds through it and had only a few jams but they told him he needed more lube. I guess he had a good one
Thanks for letting us know. I picked up my only Sig about 16 months ago (P238 for Texas summer carry). It works flawlessly...unless, oddly enough, I don't use the factory magazines in which event the last round fails to feed. I'm glad your problems have been worked out.
@AmericanMade72 Yeah, you would think that huh. It has ran flawlessly since i stopped using the stock magazines. I am going to order some mecgar +2 base plates and put them on a couple USA mags and see if that changes anything.
@wolvee123 yeah that's inexplicable. I had the same problem with my Taurus. Good gun, but shit mags. People will give a gun bad reviews because of shitty mags that don't feed properly and who can blame them. Such a simple thing. I would think the gun engineering would be the hard part and the mag is the easy stuff. It's like a crappy floormat in an expensive car!
WOW, sorry to hear your problems. i have been carrying and using the P226/40 for the past 4 years with more then 10000 rds without any problems, The USCG is still carrying the P226/40 DAK and have been for about 6-7 years. That is why I decided to buy and carry, if it's around salt water and always getting wet and keeps working it most be good. But like anything there's always a bad one in the bunch. I agree the cost is a little high, mine was $1,200, and my Sig 5.56 was $1,499 all is good.
i had mine fail to lock the slide back when i first got mine. i found it was because my thumb was just barely touch the slide lock. i changed my grip and it hasnt happened since.
great review. but it hink its where you buy your guns
