i doubt any of you were there to experience that scene. it was a place and time that will never be again. but you guys who learn about this stuff online and suddenly become punk rock scholars need to be kicked in the head. if darby were here he'd probably oblige. as for me, i was born in 79, but at least i don't pretend to know more than i do as i was in diapers when he od'd.
that scene can be experienced again, it just takes bright minded people that have the right state of mind, but it wont be the same, prolly more chaotic though with the way things are now, but believe me, it can.
it never died.... why do all u older punks think its dead? Its more DIY than ever, fuck playing shows at theaters and clubs! if anything, its much more intense and real than it was back then
@crustychi666 lol wtf really... i mean last time a went to a show i didnt get my head busted in by riot squads come on face it punk killed punk it went too far to fast and fizzled due to conformity and infighting. its thanx jocks who go around and beat up kids for not liking the right bands and whos jeans arent tight enough.
@crustychi666 This is so true. Like, I appreciated how it was, and how it started but damn, you only have to take one look at the fuckin crazy ass kids in the pit at a real hardcore punk show to know punk is certainly not dead. Of course it's different than it was, but jesus, Im only 15 and I fuckin love it. The music, the people, whatever. If it can hook me in so completely, it must be growing and growing. WE are the generation that is carrying it on, and Im fuckin proud of that.
No Trash metal. And we didnt abandon the scene, the scene became diluded and fractured into several different scenes. True hardcore punk and DIY is still around, its not a exclusive club.
theres no way it can america is too crowded and full of bs i was born into the 90's punk wave x.x it tried to start again and as hardcore as it got was rancid, but i mean black flag used to live in this church for 5 bucks i just when there and its just a regular church now :[
i love the band youth gone mad i know dee dee ramone loves these guys too the band was a bit under-rated i think there just as good as the dead kennedys but they dont have the credit i think youth gone mad made some great shit
no im wrong she was 22 but who cares she was atleast part of a LA punk movement my birthday is on the 15th which is 11 days before hers which is on September 26
For anyone who would care to know, I'm actually family friends with Ena. Same goes with Michel Solis. We're not related or anything, but my dad was very involved with the group.
Then again, most bands weren't very permenant or anything.
You would be surprised how many bands, even ones that still play shows are unknown by the current generation, just off the top of my head Shattered Faith, The Freeze.
is hard to discover information without internet i think.
i know YGM just because i buy records in the old way, spending the afternooon in a vynil shop; anyway i found anything n internet about theyr history.
I think that the 70% of all the culture before internet era will be lost or,worstly, used in the wrong way if anyone fromthe old generation will do anything for it.
