  • Did you notice any improvements to your mpg?

  • @csisterh Between the cai and exhaust setup there was an increase in mpg. I have mill eliminators but the truck still runs really rich so with a tune it would be much better.

  • Which flowmaster muffler is it? Thanks!

  • what all did you do? and how much did it cost? a vid of how you did it whould help.

  • sounds great for a 4.2 would love to see some more videos like acceleration, maybe some from the inside while driving.

  • Don't tell him to make an acceleration video silly. I don't want anybody to have to listen to that sound for 28 seconds while the lil v6 climbs to 40.

  • @JDCassidy13 not really little for a v6

  • is this original series or delta flow? i need to know cause i got the same truck

  • Is the exhaust the only mod? great sound from a v6 btw. you should make an acceleration video.

  • nice man, sounds awesome. i might be buying my dads 97 f150, got the 4.2 in it as well, now that iv heard yours, gave me a really good idea ;) were did you buy the exhaust? :D

  • @fordtractors4100 keep in mind u may end up replaceing the head gasket on that truck. i own a 2000 its a great truck

  • @r4hillman im not even sure im getting the truck anymore, cant afford what he is asking for it, also the bloody gas gets expensive, to bad, i love that truck.

  • I'm thinking about getting a 40 series when I replace the o2sensors in front. What do the mill eliminators do? Also, do you notice any gains from the exhaust? I just want one for offroad performance, and to sound a little different ;)

  • best v6 f150 exhaust . sounds great.

  • fora v6 that sounds pretty sweet my friend

  • let me ask you something, i have a 2002 ford f150 single cab v6 4.2L and i am wanting to achieve this sound, do you have any engine mods or is it just a flowmaster 40 with cats removed?

  • I have a 2002 F150 V6 and I love it! Its perfect for what I need it for and gets about 17 1/2 city, not to bad if you ask me.

  • shit i think it sounds good but u should of gone with a single chamber flowfaster thats what i got unless thats what it is idk

  • please send me this exact exhaust code

  • look it does is make it sound good, improves mpg, and maybe a little power because i know i have a truck with the same motor and same thing done to the exuast system and i am a mech. so i know and if u gonna take cats off take all four and forget the emissions bull shit the cops aint gonna do shit

  • Hey guys im clueless about exhaust, all i know is that when i got mine done they were magna flow /flowmaster i dnt even know .. but if i delete the rear cats would that help performance or...????

  • Sounds damn good for a V6

  • I have the 5.4 with the same setup (still have stock cats on ), and i really like the way the v6 sounds. Check out my truck's exhaust

  • This thing actually sounds pretty good for a 6 banger. Do you think it would sound like a ricer if you left the cats on or is it better without em?

  • I've got a 98 F150 with the 4.2 with the same exhaust setup and goin up hills in 3rd gear it sounds like an old 2 stroke diesel

  • everyone saying this video sucks is retarded. like he said its showing the exhaust. who cares if you think yours sounds better. sounds badass sunfish.

  • Does it pass emissions without the cats?

  • i like it i have a 2000 4.2 as well and i just have a magnaflow si/do and it does'nt sound to bad but i was thinking about taking my cats out they need to be replaced anyways and by the looks of it makes it sound way better i may also throw on a flowmaster 40 series like you did i have them on my 96 cobra and they sound gold :)

  • @snakesonaplane2 LOL how dumb are you? You do realize that over time cats can clog up causing them to become more and more restrictive. Not to mention a straight pipe will have less restriction than a stock cat. Now high flow cats are an option but when you don't have emission laws its almost stupid to spend the money on them. Also what 6 cylinder motor doesn't get raspy at high rpm's? I know for a fact that regardless of what muffler you put on this engine it will still get raspy.

  • @sunfish79077 stock cats on 96+ vehicles are high flowing from the factory, you'll get no performance gain from removing them until they do clog, and if your engine is running properly, not rich and you have no bad gaskets to leak coolant into the exhaust or bad gas, then modern catalytic converters are good for over 200,000 miles, the one on my truck at 202k miles still flows like new so i know it didn't increase performance by any noticable amount

  • @sunfish79077 also not every muffler will make a V6 sound raspy, depends on how loud it is, for instance turbo mufflers do not make a raspy sound as they control exhaust frequncy very well, and a chambered muffler with cats in place also doesn't rasp, i have a Thrush Welded (same as Flow 40) on a 4.3 Silverado with the stock cat in place and it's not raspy at all, just a low rumble at low rpm but a higher pitched note than a V8 but by no means raspy like yours

  • @snakesonaplane2 your what hurts

  • @humblef150 honestly i can't tell, is that supposed to be a comment or a dig at me or what? use proper grammar next time

  • @snakesonaplane2 i mean ur vehicles suck

and ur jelous of this guys truck

  • @humblef150 jealous of a V6 F150? i think not, my Vortec 350 will eat it for breakfast bone stock, i have headers and a 0411 PCM and tune, not to mention i could add a stroker kit and blower anytime

i'd not putting down the truck, i'd take a fair piced 4.2 F150, i'm just saying i wouldn't run that exhaust and personally think it sounds like ass, i do custom exhaust and have made 4.2's and 4.3 Silverado's sound nice, and if you don't want criticism then don't post a video on youtube

  • @snakesonaplane2 you are an idiot

  • @davethewave1223221 keep telling yourself that while you have yet to prove you obtain any intelligence at all

  • @snakesonaplane2 wow you're a tard

  • @ndubb1 give me one legit reason

  • @snakesonaplane2 an exhaust WILL flow better without cats, and a FLOWmaster is a good muffler. You want velocity for you're exhaust, which cats don't exactly help. If you wanna get into an argument, go to f150online and go to the exhaust forum. Anyone on there will say to remove cats or replace with high flow.

  • @ndubb1 on newer 96+ OBD2 cars and trucks they're already equiped from the factory with highflow cats, flow bench and dyno test prove that, also they prove that Flowmaster sucks, it's an outdated technology, companies like Hooker and Spintech make much better quality chambered mufflers that produce that same deep rumble but with less drone and more flow, i know a few things about the F150, i had a 98 with the 4.6 and deleted the first two cats, didn't notcie any gain at all

  • @snakesonaplane2 there's still a difference from these "high flow" cats you speak of the comes stock from the aftermarket, or the sound wouldn't elevate using an aftermarket. Flowmaster is old technology now yes, but they still sit right up there with everything else. dynos show a whopping 2 horsepower gain over a flowmaster, which you will not notice or should care about on a truck. You also are not going to notice gains by just removing two cats, if anything just a louder exhaust. headers....

  • @ndubb1 no cats, correct piping, and pretty much any muffler other than stock will gain you power.

  • @ndubb1 sound doesn't mean more flow, if that were true then flowmaster would outflow Magnaflow or Spintech which is proven incorrect, like you said an aftermarket highflow cat will gain you 2hp if you're lucky which isn't noticable, and i agree 100% on the piping size, people don't realize your pipes can be too large and you lose all exhaust velocity, may as well have kept stock

  • @snakesonaplane2 you are an idiot if u think it sounds like a ricer, look at vids of kids with glasspacks with cats, now thats a ricer. removing the cats helps fuel milage and a little horsepower gain, also it make the exhaust sound more throaty like it does in this video. This is actually the best sounding 4.2L v6 exhaust video i've ever seen. mine sounds similar but i just have stock muffler and no cats. If i get the flowmast it will sound just like his.

  • @edwardsm2009 it does sound like rice with no cats, they help control the high tones in the exhaust so if you remove the cats you need a resonator to absorb those high pitched sounds, also there is no credible evidence that removing cats will increase mileage or power on newer OBD2 vehicles, no amount of insults will change that, i don't have a problem with running no cats but on anything but a diesel or V8, you need a resonator for a deep sound, plus if ur caught you get a $25k fine

  • @snakesonaplane2 That my friend, is the sound of an american truck. Thats one of the best sounding V6's ive ever heard. Ricers dont sound like this. Apparently you have no idea what a ricer sounds like

  • @chorstma44 it sounds good at low rpm but once it gets higher like 3000 it sounds raspy and farty like a ricer, the same with any truck V6 like the Chevy 4.3 and Dodge's 3.7, only the Camaro and Mustang V6's have a nice smooth sound that I like, that and inline 6's like a turbo Supra, besides that I only like V8's

  • @snakesonaplane2 haha your a dumb ass

  • @yz125ridr says the guy with his dumbass nigger videos in his favorites list

  • @snakesonaplane2 your a cock sucker dude just cause i listen to rap doesnt mean shit i was doin this since i raped your mom and thats where you came from

  • @yz125ridr aww did i hurt your feelings? man up, don't resort to "mom" jokes, that's weak

  • get rid o the ghetto wheels

  • You can so tell its a v6! But anyways! Go Ford!

  • i have a 1999 f-150 v8 triton shortbed with a k&n air filter and the 5.4 mustang engine in it with flowmasters straight out the back , it sounds pretty damn good lol

  • does the 4.6l kit that flowmaster sells fit the 4.2?

  • Of all of the 4.2L vids, this exhaust note sounds best. Does the sound drone through the cab? Do you have video of the install? It'd be cool to hear see(hear) some vids of the truck on the highway and normal city driving. Been pulled over for noise? Anyway, great sound.

  • @kryptonek88 and this pertains to? This is an exhaust vid not an acceleration vid. For a v6 truck its pretty quick but by my standards not a fast vehicle. I mean hell on my small tires I've pulled a truck on a few 5.3l single cab chevy's and put 4 trucks on a 08 tiburon.

  • @sunfish79077 i have a truck just like it myself man, and have walked on 2 chevy 5.3's and destroyed a chevy 4.2

  • @sunfish79077 5.3L? I think ford makes a 5.4L

  • @kryptonek88 ur jelous haha what a loser

  • @humblef150 haha especially cus i have a 2000 stang and a f-150 2004 stx edition. haha lol retards

  • @kryptonek88 im sorry . i drive a ford too

    they suck hey

    every ford does

  • @kryptonek88 trucks are not meant to be fast

  • @kryptonek88 enjoy your gas hog

  • @kryptonek88 I drive a 4.2l and it's pretty quick. I think you're mistaking.

  • @SICKSxNINE ummm no trust me im not mistaken, ive raced 5.3 chevys with real drivers and ive been shit on. Thats cus i shift and stall at the begining. Trucks are not fast, and if they are, then just in a straight line. The only real challenge for me is my stang. A CAR. Fast speed turns, the whole 10 yards. IMO trucks are for mudding and towing. More like WORK, not much of a luxury, but then again thats my opinion

  • @SICKSxNINE Well, that's your opinion. I'm glad you voiced it :)

  • I have the same truck and im looking for this sound and it sounds great! Can you tell me all the details of what you did and what series of mufflers? I know its 40's but is it super, delta, or origanal

  • probly the best sounding ford 4.2l i have heard yet

  • did u leave the oxygen sensors on it and does it mess up the computer or does it really matter

  • @Bandit1926 Yes the o2 sensors are still on the truck. The rear o2's are pretty much useless so I have Mill eliminators inline with them to turn them off. I've had no problems.

  • @sunfish79077 hey man, look for o2 simulators, they are only about 15 bucks each and the screw on to the 02 sensor holes and then you screw the 02 sensors to the simulators and it keeps the sensor out of the exhaust path so it reads clean air, and then it wont retard your timing or give you a rich/lean mixture.

  • @Bandit1926 What I've seen a lot of people do is cut the cats in half, leaving the front 2 cats intact and crush out the rear 2 cats and put it back together with 02 sensors in same spots and it will still pass emissions and it wont throw a code.

  • Leave ur cats on people...removing perfectly fine cats because u want ur car louder is illegal..and can get u in trouble with the state, EPA, and smog testing!

    Just get a cat-back system

  • @MARKsic33

Maybe if you live in a pussified liberal state. I pass inspection and get better gas mileage with no cats.

  • @mfors704 not all states require cats thats why u passed. better mpg? not likely! that makes it have more power=less mpg...but states make it mandatory for cats when there is a bad smog problem..like cali...mountain pressure and ocean pressure makes the smog kinda trapped..

  • @MARKsic33 Your correct in one way and not in another. Hi flow ceramic cats are the best way to go. No cats is better then the other cats (especially stock) for restriction of flow. As for more power = less mpg that isn't completely correct. You throw 40-50 ft lbs of torque and your mileage will go up if you can keep your foot out. But another 200+ horse will most likely drop your mileage. Also depends on application.

  • @MARKsic33 liberal?

  • @sunfish79077 WTF?! no...i just think its dumb that people do dumb stuff to their cars and think its badass and faster! like ricers putting huge melon shooter on as mufflers and gutting out their interior for no noticable gain in power.

  • @MARKsic33 are you a fag?

  • @monkeyboy8me wow really? is that ur way of starting an argument? monkeyboy? Because that name screams queer!

  • @MARKsic33 California?

  • @MARKsic33 hahaha faggot

  • @MARKsic33 hell no bud im gonna let her burn rich baby

  • @MARKsic33 Liberal Cunt, Fuck Climate change

  • I'd love to delete the cats on mine like that...but I have to deal with visual inspection on emissions equipment. Guess I could always gut them. I'm upgrading my glass pack w/ tip to a 40 series here within the next week. Any one know what these sound like w/ stock cats on a si/do setup? Or should I just dump a si/so right at the muffler?

  • @zapityzapzap mine sounds pretty good with the stock cats. a lot better than the stock exhaust, and it has a descent tone.

  • Yea 6 cyls suck hardcore u spent to much money on a crappy truck

  • u have 4 cats? will the muffler shop replace them with the straight pipes?

  • @jmc9109 no, not if they value there job and freedom. lol

  • I';m just saying you have this nice truck but then you have a v6

  • Ive got a glass pack on my 98 sounds super sexy

  • why the fuck do you get nice rims and a nice exhaust with a damn v6

  • @xxbal1inxx Stfu bigger engine doesnt mean more speed and power it means more cylinders a gas wasted any 4 cylinder or V6 can beat a V8 easily but im not saying a V8 doesnt sound good im just saying there not the best

  • yo i have a 02 v6 4.2 also and i want to make some sound to it give me some ideas i could do on it??messge me bak..

  • not too bad for a 4.2

  • Best sound 4.2L V6 Iv ever heard, that doesnt sound like a ricer lol.

  • that sounds good at idle. i still have my stock exhaust on my 08 and it sounds fine to me. in my opinion the aftermarket mufflers and systems usually sound good at idle and low rpms but at the mid to high range they just sound like a V6 but just 10x louder. IMO the flowmasters sound good in the low range. only ones i like all the way across are 2 different magnaflows and a borla.

  • do a film of a take off that'd be bad ass

  • hey wat kind of tips are does ive been looking for them but cant find them'

  • @MrLOBOS17

not sure. The muffler shop I had it installed at had them. Just a regular angle cut.

  • yo man you should make another video but of the whole truck, and taking off see wat she really sounds like.

  • is that a single inlet going into duals

  • amazing

  • lets hear it take off... lol

  • sounds perfecto!!!

  • love it!

  • My 2002 F150 catback exhuast sounds exactly like that but I'm gonna get Hooker headers to give it a more throaty sound!

  • sounds really good i got same setup on my F250

  • THAT actully sound pretty good

  • does the v6 have a lot of power

  • 212 hp i think. so yeah. its got decent power. :)

  • I have this same motor and it actually does pretty good. It's been a very dependable motor for me. I have 205,000 on it and haven't had much trouble out of it at all

  • will this fit a 2001 ford f-150 standard cab 4.2L v6? please get back at me asap!

  • Damn.... i always thought puttin an aftermarket exhaust on my 4.2l would sound shitty but guess not

  • hey man i have the same truck and engine but two flowmaster 10 series with no cats and echo tips it is loud as hell

  • dude where'd you buy this? its badass!

  • wow that sounds amazing. whats the part # for your exhaust? i want mine to sound like that

  • DAMN! i want my 4.2L to sound like that...im trying to get a Flowmaster super 44 series put on.

Hopefully it'll sound as beasty as that..

  • hey man nice im getting the same truck as this one for my first car. I think u should post another vid!!!! and every 1 check out my highlight video if u like football!! ;))

  • god dam dat sounds sick yo. tell me wat u did in da exhaust

  • i like your truck my stock exhaust is on the side like yours..i have a 1997 4.6 f150 is it possible i can have 2 on each side??

  • doubt it, at least on the F150's i've seen the gastank is in the way to run a pipe down the driver's side and exit on the driver's side before the axle

  • lets hear a "take off" clip

  • thats amazing for a v6

  • holy damn that sounds good for a 6!!!!!

  • how much did that exhaust system cost?

  • damn that sounds good

  • i love the sound of ur truck!

  • thats the best sounding 6 i heard on here yet. nice man

  • yea the 350 vortec is a best compared to the 4.2 but its a much newer motor campared to just a 350 and my 4.2 is up to about 220 hp

  • what's the part # and stuff 4 the muffler

  • thats fuckin amazing for a v6!!!

  • sounds ok for a V6

  • ok i just raced a buddy of mine in my truck like the one in the vid and his is a 1992 chevy with a 350 and i beat his ass.... but i will admit it does have alot to do with the way its set up but just because its got a v8 does not bean its runs faster, better and harder

  • ya, i have a 97 with the 4.2L, and i beat my buddie's 5.9L Magnum Ram in the 1/4. both cab & 1/2, 2WD. power doesn't really mean that much

  • hey wat kinda time did yall run in the 1/4 my girls 97 dodge 5.2 ran a 16 flat loade down with a full tank of gas and a topper oh and it 2wd

  • same here. ive run against my friends 93 chevy 350. he beats me off the line but from a roll he cant touch me. he shuts down right at 100 and i keep going. lol

  • thats stock headers could u do a walkaround with the truck running if so let me know

  • also, if that was your front suspension speaking at 0:08 your upper control arms and lower ball joints need replacing. same thing happened with my 98 f150.

  • im sure when you removed your cats a check engine light came on. right? if so, have you been able to get rid of it or is it still on?

  • Your lucky that chip hasn't caused detonation yet...and I doubt its giving you anywhere near 62hp. I also highly doubt your pretty much stock 4.2 is doing 0 to 60 in 5 seconds.

  • yeah i dont think a 62hp chip is good for his truck and 5 seconds to 60 would take a lot more than 62 extra horses. a stock 4.2 should be in the 9-10 second range with 202hp, i would think half the time would mean about double the power so youd need to be pushing 400+hp in that truck to get 5 seconds. hell my 96 trans am i had which weighed about 1k less and was rated 285hp and 235LB-FT was rated 5.6 to 60, i clocked it at 5.85 with 70k miles. unless his truck is half carbon fiber its not 5secs

  • Yea i got a 2001 F150 5 spd. 2 door Short bed. Nice street truck only got K&N and a 62 horse chip and Trudual Glasspacks Summit headers and Cats. itt runs 0 to 60 in 5 secs.. not bad for what it is.. V6 4.2 Li. sounds just like that

  • hey just put mine on like urs i thnik it sounds great

  • lol you dont need a FLOWMASTER. i just have glasspacks on mine and it sounds just like his. i got a 4.0L v6. it has a deep rumble.dont waist your money

  • sounds like shit

  • agreed

  • dude what kinda pipes are them

  • hey did u have any backressure problems because those are bigger inlets and exits that are on stock

  • hey man i was thinking about doing the same with my truck and i was wondering wat about the o2 sensers do you just unplug them or do you keep them in?

  • flowmaster muffler? or did you put on a cherry bomb or dynomax or something along those lines

  • the description does say flowmaster 40 series...

  • wat flowmaster did u put?

  • 40 series. its in the description..

  • what do you have done to the exhaust. i have a 4.2 with flowmasters and it doesnt sound like that... i would like to get mine to sound like that

  • akkizzle is being stupid ive got friend that have 350s and 305s and not gitting the HP that im gitting out of that 4.2 v6. that is a very large v6 and it has alot of power stock

  • haha you crack me up! you seriosly think a 4.2 puts out more horsepower than 5.7 liter? what drugs are you on man? unless you have a supercharger on it or some shit like that then your out of your mind! and i would like to see the dyno results for those trucks if your are being true! and if you havent had them dynod then your just dumb saying that! if the 4.2 had more hp y even offer a bigger engine?lol ive got a friend with a 2006 vet and hes not gettin then horspower im getting outa my 5.4Llol

  • I think you need to do a little research, I've destroyed a 1990 chevy 350 in my 4.2 with a tune and exhaust, it really depends on what 350 you're racing.

  • you beating a 350 with your 4.2 isn't research. its just a story (whether it be fiction or not is besides the point)so before you start telling me to go do research, why don't you do some, and show me proof that a 4.2 puts out more hp than a 350. cuz horse power is what we're talking about here, not races. thats what the previous 2 replies were about or am i wrong? so show me proof please.

  • i know the vortec 350 is about 265hp, dont know about the earlier ones and the 4.2L is 202

  • yea the 2001 4.2 v6 makes 202 hp 1999-2000 makes 205 1998 makes 210 and 1997 makes 205. its all in the compression ratio

  • @msujake not trying to be an ass but i looked it up awhile back and i couldnt find a change in anything about the engine between the years. most sources say its 202hp the whole time, only a few say the 205 and 210 in certain years. i went to a ford website to look them up and it had 202 the whole time and same compression ratio and everything. could not find 1 thing different until 2006 when they actually did change stuff.

  • ive beaten a 1993 350 silverado with my 4.2L supercab f150. off the line i get smoked but from a roll i can smoke it. its mainly gearing. on the other hand, if it was a vortec 350 (1995-up) i dont stand a snowballs chance in hell. lol

  • so nothing to say to that?

  • yea i got a 4.2 it aint got that much horsepower

  • no no no. i just hate on V6's in trucks. now a V6 in a nice little car where it belongs isnt really that bad. lol and where do you get off criticizing my intelligence? that one hurt real bad. i dont know if i'll ever get over it!

  • now quit posting your biased comments. This video was meant to give people an idea of what this setup will sound like.

  • Like I said I never wanted to make it sound like a v8. Its actually really deep in person. If you knew a thing or two you would know that the average camera does not depict the actual sound production of an exhaust tone.

  • you know I could care less if its legal in all 50 states. Do I plan on taking my truck to all 50 states? No. The actual difference in pollution between having cats on or off isn't really that much, its just a political gimick to make you think it is. I personally think you are a v8 dick rider and just hate on all v6's.

  • BONK coulda had a V8 (you know like the commercial for v8 juice) lol ha but i will give you style points. looks nice! oh and sorry for no punctuation in that last post i had to make it fit

  • First off im just speaking my opinion which last i checked it was legal everywhere in the US What your doing to make your truck sound good in your opinion isnt legal in all 50 states! thanks for that anyways you know pollutting (sp) the enviornment! ha go through all that and not even make it true dual? And the reason it sounds like shit is because its not even a deep tone you can tell its a V6 from 100ft away about as far away as you can hear it a V8 you can hear about a half mile at least lol

  • wow real mature there buddy. So answer me this, what makes it sound like shit? I never intended to make it sound like a v8 because with this engine it is impossible. The 4.2 is an even firing engine while the v8 is a staggered firing engine giving it that pulse. The exhaust has a deep tone and sounds good which was what I was shooting for and achieved. Do you get your rocks off by trying to put people down? Apparently so.. btw the 4.2 is a very stout engine.

  • sounds like shit... whats the point of doin all this to a v6? no matter what you do it will not sound like a v8. guys with a v6 that think the have a sick exhaust are just fags! ha be a man and get a real engine!
