The images you see are terrible... but very small percentage of dairy farms operate this way. Chickens that are left to roam free eat their own shit. Chickens in cages are set up in a way that their excrement falls through the bottom of the cage and is not in contact with the chicken. WHat kind of chicken or eggs do you want to eat...ones that eat their own excrement, or the other.This is nothing more than a bunch of bleeding hearts who will have a detrimental impact on California farmers.
Chicken farmers act like there are only two solutions, one with 7 chickens in a cage, and free range. I'm sure there are other options available that allow the chickens to flap their wings now and then while still maintaining sanitation.
Animals have been living for thousands of years...without cages. Don't give false information. This is only a justification to making profits from chickens crammed in cages. Don't you have any dignity? Is making millions of dollars worth putting a living soul to hell?
I voted Yes on Prop 2 - Californians aren't going to stand for this type of abuse!
