I've watched so many of your videos in awe. Thank you so much for sharing the music! Franz Liszt is by far my favorite composer and it's great to hear such wonderful interpretations.
Wonderful interpretation. I wish you had taken part in the Chopin Piano Competition this year. Wumder, Avdeeva and Trifonov would have been in trouble. Well, by the way do like romantic lyrical music by Chopin, and his masterpieces like Mazurkas and Polonaises, and his famous rubbato ?
@Aleskies I second that motion, please come to Victoria Melbourne. It would be an honor to listen to you play live, something I would never forget. Such beautiful expression in your playing along with technique.
I think she has advertised well. Many here and elsewhere know of you.Years ago I purchased her Chopin etudes .The problem is there are so many excellent pianists now & a public that can't tell the difference between music making and someone well trained . So it takes cheap antics, radio, well composed crossover music or new anti-style modes of playing might work. We have all heard this music countless times . Whoever comes up with a new way will be heard.
I think that this is a very fine performance of this work. Brilliance and drama are not unusual attributes in performances of this music, but integrating those aspects with Liszt's melodic content this well is unusual. That's one reason this is such a satisfying presentation of this composition..
I'm sorry, but this is a first movement? The opening string phrase sounds like a funeral dirge. Listen to Berezovsky or Argerich for a really energetic interpretation.
@hector67000 Well, technically, the strings aren't really her responsibility. So advising people to listen to other pianists because the strings aren't the best doesn't really make sense. Except that one evaluates the performance as a whole. The pianist is one unit with the orchestra. And naming orchestras instead of pianists would confuse ppl.
This stunning performance coupling power and poetry as it does...makes Liszt afficionados glaze over with admiration
for your full out, dramatic, playing! I imagine Der Meister himself might have sounded something like this. Your confidence enables such great playing, let us say, 'in the grand manner.' I have been profoundly moved by all this.
Thank you! Please remain unmovable in your convictions.
sll10 & such comments re Valentina on a major label are quite right - 2 years ago I assumed she was - nobody could play like her and not be ?! The major labels are missing a great opportunity here. Please do listen to the tracks on her Myspace player - you won't believe them - eg. the Weber Rondo Brilliante, or the RossiniGinzburg Aria - unbelievable, impossible !!
Lovely legato sections and the intellectual force behind the opening is amazing. A real sense of oneness with some of the orchestral solos. A perfect Liszt concerto! Thank you for sharing this performance.
I would Valentina, if I had any pull with them, believe me! I have a feeling, they WILL notice you eventually. Have patience and persistence (like I need to tell you that)!
You're fantastic! Everything I've heard and seen you play has been tremendous. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!
I don't if the post I added just now will eventually show up. I apologise if this comment is redundant. If you are still under contract, your old company might not let you go so easily, as your ascension and reputation are rising so fast. Dear artist Valentina, your time will come, personally, I it already has:-)
You have technique and stage presence that puts most other pianists of your generation to shame. Oh but wait you don't make tortured faces when you play and do amateur stand up comedy like Lang Lang. That must be it.
Seriously though, it's ridiculous that you aren't on one of those labels. Happy New Year!
In all honesty you should start your own private label and recruit other passionate talented artists. Take a lesson from the hip hop genre where artist take their financial destiny into their own hands. Keep all your royalties for yourself. You are the reason i returned back to playing the piano after having studied for over 14 years. I have not played in over 15 years and I admire your talent. You are so inspirational!
Valentina - I just heard you in Chicago with Hahn. You guys are clearly at the same level. So why is she with DG and you're not? Who knows? But remember this: it took Nathan Milstein 30 years to become NATHAN MILSTEIN. For many years he was "just" a superlative, totally honest, transcendentally gifted violinist - but not considered at the level of Heifetz or Kreisler. But he was ultimately recognized as one of the all-time greatest. I have no doubt that you will be, too. Hang in there!
@ValentinaLisitsa Love your humor and feel your frustration. Know that those who DO listen to you on YouTube love you... we should start a YouTube campaign to get you your major label...
Valentina, you & Liszt seem almost synonymous ! Amazing ... this is a piece I very much like hence to have it magnificently represented by the great Valentina is of course the best I can hope for :)

The concert hall is the main problem with the sound not the orchestra. This is in a theater not a symphonic hall.
