Thanks for posting a most amazing and inspirational song. The bitter-sweet speaks to me more than I can explain, and I'm left feeling hopeful. This song celebrates a love of life and a love for those who we meet along the way. A new song to add to my favorites!
@EdMuirton to tell the truth, my simplistic view and hope that we WILL someday, is like energy to "go the distance" HERE.....I feel my loved ones who have "gone before" often, as I'm sure you do Geoff. The present family, friends, too.... I try to fine tune the sometimes fleeting thought....when a friend here or departed crosses my thinking, it might be more than a thought:-)time to share love, a prayer, plant a tree,..etc. just the thoughts are comfort..hugs G, you and yours
I watched and listened to it the other day, and in part is what prompted me to make my own dedication video, I wish I had your writing and singing skills. Great playing also, and I love the video. *PeAcE & love*
@rhopen My comment was perhaps a bit loo light considering why you wrote this song. I tend to react to the performance before I listen to the words, which are strikingly beautiful. Best wishes. -Ron
saw this in nancys favs...extremely touching and so very beautiful of words..just simply beautifully written, performed and videoed...the combination made it just say it so perfectly..expressed ur great loss and how very meaningful this person is in your life..still....even if gone, still ever so present obviously in your soul! and i believe that person shall always be with u, felt that immensely in this!
I love your play : slides and whistle... and of course the song (even if i don't understand all words cause of my limited english). I wish you all the best Laurie.
beautiful sweet song, speaks to my heart... as always, Laurie... wish I had known Ed, he is missed by many here... i've often felt overwhelmed by losses these past few months! my loved one suffering early onset alzheimers, close friend lost in car accident, then favourite youtube friend disappeared without saying goodbye... it can be so hard to let go when life changes! a door closes but a window opens to a warm ray of sunshine that's Your music of comfort for the soul :) thank you dear friend!!
@talesandtunes THankyou Michael, ...you are right---there is no escaping the sadness of one's passing at a young age, or accidentally....older age is expected, a natural course of life. Someday they will know answers to mystery illnesses better than they do now...:-) at least I hope so.
Your words are absolutely beautiful Cinders, you have a wise and wonderful soul and I love you. ~~~ love the whistling on your song. I'll slip over now and watch his video's. ~~~ Zaza ~~~ Oxo
Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there... I do not sleep. I am the thousand winds that blow... I am the diamond glints on snow... I am the sunlight on ripened grain... I am the gentle autumn rain. When you waken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of gentle birds in circling flight... I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry— I am not there... I did not die.
Dear Laurie, It's the dearest, loveliest video! I've never seen or heard one more touching than this... You are a wonderful friend to do this for Ed. ANd yes, I too expect a GREAT reunion! xo NAncy
My mother-in-law died this year due to a brain tumor and it was very hard to lose her, both for my wife and for the rest of us. When I was out on my bike trip some very strange things happened that made me think she was checking in with me and saying hello. It was a great relief to think she was alongside and happy to see me. She might have been saying some of the things you said in this song, and that was a comfort. Very beautiful, Laurie.

You are right. These words say it well: "I have made death a messenger of joy to thee. Wherefore dost thou grieve?"
So it looks as though an Australian has gone to the bye and bye? I'll check out the channel.
