Wow the EXO 1000 being considered a touring helmet seems to be a real piece of shit. Glad to see you got it for $80.00. I paid $215 delieverd. I am suprised with todays technology a helmet company would provide such false information such as it being a all weather/touring helmet. I get mine in next week. I will be sure to do a review on it next month. If it sucks I will get my money back. Scorpion supplies a 3 year warranty. I also heard their customer service is very good. We shall see....
@JimmyGunXD556 Very true, the 1000 is a touring helmet which is why I wear it in the rain. I wouldn't wear my Shoei during the winter. I've worn that in the rain and it doesn't keep out the rain as much as the EXO 1000 does. Nothing is completely waterproof but I haven't had the problem that that one person said where the water came in through the vent yet.
@kwanizac It is actually still pretty tight if you don't pump up the cheek pads, the only time I do is when I don't want a whole bunch of air coming through from underneath.
@ashf00t Cheers, thanks, I think I'll be putting a bit more money into it and buy the Shoei I hear they are a lot lighter and much better quality on the long run, plus I live in Mexico (year-round riding weather yay!) so I'm looking for the best amount of air flow, I really can't wear leathers unless it's seriously winter temp, about 20 days a year, except that it's just heat, heat, heat...
I think the fogless layer or whatever is only put on the outside, I think they figured that if you have the deflector you don't need it on the inside or somethin', I hate bulky gloves cause of stuff like that, I don't like feeling like I'm on one of those like bio-haz suits lol...
I would love to hear if anything did come apart or leak or anything later on, since I'm thinking about buying this...
@ckboy023 no the anti-fog coating is on the inside. They also put an anti-scratch coating on the outside just don't put any kind of solution other than soap and water to clean the outside otherwise it will come off. I accidentally did and now I have a very annoying spot in my field of view.
The only time the helmet leaks is if you open the visor when it rains and it's a great helmet! The internal visor comes in handy a lot and it keeps out the wind noise drastically compared to my Shoei...
@ckboy023 ...I do love my Shoei though. It's more a summer time helmet and it whistles a lot because it can pump a lot of air through it. It's also super light compared to the EXO 1000. So my 1000 is more for winter riding while the Shoei is for summer.
I got the ex400 tsunami (the same one you wanteD) I love it but wish I had the sun visor for it... and holy crap 81$ is what I paid for my ex400 when it was selling for 150 :O
Nice review! Don't know if you saw my review on the Exo-1000 helmet but you made alot of good points. Taking the visor on and off takes some getting used to ;-)
but if its scorpion im sure it will still fit cause the out side might be diff but the inside is still the same u should give it a try but if u did alrady never mind then lol
@jake011386 on the 1000 there is not velcro on the inside of the helmet. The breath box has velcro on the lower part of it making it fit with the 400. The box would just fall out of the helmet or not have a very good connection, I'll stick with my foggy thanks.
I have this helmet in matte black it was the first one I owned and I love it....it's a bit heavy compared to my icon alliance but all in all it's great. Keep the vlogs coming
I'm in love!!! New subscriber!! Ur beautiful!!! Southside Dutch Pride!!!! I rode for 9 yrs then stopped! Recently pulled out my bike and gear after 6 year hiatus! Grew up in Eugene!! Moved to Chicago, be safe and check out my toys!!!
The1000 is more of an upright riding helmet, the 400 & 600 is more for sportbike riding. I used to have problems with taking the visor off too, but then someone showed me how you're supposed to do it and it's been easy ever since. I don't know if it's cause of where u r located, but only time my visor ever fogs up is sitting @ a stop light. However I don't think scorpion helmets vent that well, but there's a new 500 out and rumours are that it vents great. Still like your review though =)
My first helmet was a EXO 400 and I had the same problem with the condensation on the inside of the visor. The quick release system worked really well on mine though, so it might be the locking mechanism that makes the release harder?
@oMikeHawk Whoa, whoa, whoa. We are NOT Oregon state, we are the university of Oregon! And we are in the PAC10 which is THE best conference out there thank you!
I'm Sorry! I don't keep up with teams that much, so i don't know which States have university's or "Blank" State football names.. Football is not my Forte in sports, and about the pac 10, if they were good, why'd they lose? ehh? jk :), and i own an exo700, and i like mine alot. nice review.
It was a very close game. If Oregon would have played until the whistle was blown, then it could have been a total different game, but they let two plays slide which pretty much caused them the game.
nice lid.. I really like my EXO400.. wish it had the dropdown visor, any day now I'll be ordering a dark smoke visor for mine.. the 'speedshift' system actually works well once you get used to it.. you have to put the visor all the way up, turn the locks and then pull the shield forward just a bit for it to release... the instructions didnt say anything about pulling it forward but thats what disengages it. Thanks for making such a great review. DF
Nice helmet, got the same one in all black though. *You missed the cheek pump pad feature...the red pump under the chin guard inflates the cheek area for a better fit...just thought I'd let you know or maybe you just forgot to mention it and I havent had a problem with fogging yet or peeling or any sort or problems and ride up in Canada - believe me messed up weather conditions where I am
The "ratcheting" system for the visor is so much easier than Suomy if you can believe it. I was always a little weary though on my Scorpion when I'd change out the visor because those ratchets seemed kinda cheap and plasticy.
@MonicaRidesMoto Very true! My HJC and Shoei have way better system but when everyone trademarks their own, there isn't a universal system, so you could have the best helmet in the world but the crappiest visor system lol!
