You can have natural selection without DNA! Has Meyer not heard of RNA viruses? You can have natural selection on naked RNA molecules in test tubes even. It's highly likely that DNA is an advanced form of RNA that has evolved to become more specialized at the information storage role.

@Richardonvideo I was thinking of the same thing (about RNA viruses). It's a good argument because a basic RNA virus is RNA, RNA transcriptase, and a protein capsid highly simplistic. The problem I keep coming back to is that a virus is just that; a virus. It relies on more complex cells for resources (tRNA, rRNA, amino acids, nucleotides, energy, etc). Anyone have any ideas on this?
