@MetaI4Brains Zakk is based in blues, and leans more toward hard rock. He shreds his ass off, makes the guitar sound like it's howling, etc. I highly recommend checkin' out all the early BLS stuff, esp "Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live!! +5" and the BLS DVDs. All the early BLS stuff rips w/gobs of taste. Dimebag was incredible and had much more of a razor edge tone. Lots of his writing in Pantera was, actually, quite funky. I love 'em both. They both had a great sense of humor too.
