  • does the light out?

  • "how to waste your own time, money and reputation,

and get cancer in the process."

    -me.

  • This could still happen since some processes only use heat. You could use the heat off of processes already in place such as the heat from a nuclear power plant.

  • OK, this is now four years old... so why isn't it happening on a large scale all over the world already?

  • @he45188 The reason this is not happening on a larger scale is simple. (Closely) watch this video again. You will notice, that THE ENGERY INPUT OF THE MIRCOWAVE MACHINE IS MORE THAN THE ENERGY OUTPUT. In other words- this microwave machine uses up more energy than it produces. Essentially using more energy to produce less energy. Last time I checked, vacuums, like the one he uses in the video, take a lot of power to run. ; P

  • @sccooper791

Yeah but this is a really inefficient way to do this. All that is really needed is heat. He is basically "distilling" plastic,or in this case, tires. The by product is also flammable and can be used in the heating process. Also, this type of fuel can be produced more cheaply and more locally than even drilling for oil, since oil must go through the same process essentially to be refined into a usable fuel even after its been pumped and transported to the refinery.

  • @he45188 the same reason why we don't make diamonds out of carbon, though its possible...

  • @he45188 for the same reason they still charge for electricity.... and drill for oil.

  • I like the part when it goes black for 54 seconds

  • This is the oil companies speaking. STOP this silly nonsense of making oil. It's not your business It's OURS.

  • @videoclipits ROFL

  • the tire was made with oil only normal you can return it into it but shhhhhh its all bullshit according to the government

    the government loves you

    wake up

  • Gassified? Carbon Black? You best be trollin'

  • we need this technology

  • I was kinda expecting that after you spread the carbon black on the table, you would roll up a dollar bill and snort it

  • what is the energy input/output ??

  • we dont need more oil we need a cleaner fuel source!

  • I bet he's really excited about his job.

  • ....I think that there a problem with to much S in old tires....but the video is very interesting.....

  • Hi Gizmodo,

How much liter of oil taht can be extracted in a 1 kilo of used tire?

    Hi Guys,

Its not about good video but its all about good idea to recycle piled up garbage in our community.

  • Probably as much oil as it takes to make the plastic in the first place.

    Impressive!

  • hmm you did know that very interesting

  • Sound is not an electromagnetic wave

  • not only are you wrong, but youre crazy and dumb as well

  • i can bank on you being fucking crazy

  • What the hell are you on about? Can Jesus speak you some common sense into existence?

  • Okay, first of all, were you homeschooled? You seem to have the intellegence of a 10 year old. Sound is a vibration, so therefor NOT an EM wave (light, radio microwave) so light or any EM wave does and will not resonate with anything, ever. Second of all, you can't creat anything, especially with sound, its just bullshit.

  • Continued.....

Thirdly, water does not spilt at its resonate frequency, rather the affected water just vibrates like crazy. Fourthly, a side comment on your "wavesgo through us" idea, if a wave of light could go through us, our molecules would have to be spaced out enough for it to pass through, since we're not, we are OPAQUE thus can be seen.

  • @navyking2000 actually, light waves do go through us. The reason we are opaque is because the molecules in our body aren't perfectly aligned, and they act as a filter for light. If you hold a flashlight under paper, you can clearly see the light piercing through. However, there is no doubt that paper is visible.

  • still continued.....

Lastly, you are a HUGE dumbshit. EM waves have a spectrum, sound waves don't. There is only one type of sound wave, so there is NO need for a spectrum of sound. Try to defend your awnsers, you'll probably A) make yourself look like a bigger dumbshit or B) Make yourself look like a dumbshit.

  • @ncbookz

Explained badly, but yes certain frequencies have been found to effect the atomic structure of elements including water. You should of avoided making it sound as if Light and sound are very similar things.

Anyone who has looked into 'Cold Fusion' and similar methods of energy creation, frequency of soundwaves are as important as the purity of the catalysts used. Problem being mainstream science strays away from these studies and funding isn't available either in those areas.

  • Okay, first of all, sound does not go around ANYTHING it is the product of vibration, and if it goes aroun dus then how the hell do we hear sound? Also your idea is way off. The tire did not resonate, it got melted, plain and simple. oh and by the way

    GOD IS A LIE

    at least to me.

  • @navyking2000 the wrath of god abides on you! better get saved!

  • Oh save me on your BS. If there was a wrath of God, I'd be struck dead by him a year ago, and oh look! i'm still throwing shit at him

  • @navyking2000 drink the cool aid you twit sounds like you got the answer to everything why you wasting your talent here? go watch the game twinky

  • but microwaves arent soundwaves...... :/

  • it has alot of lag

  • Is the audio/video in this clip waaay outta sync, or is it just me?

  • at least do to get rid of the tires...or refurbish all tires. i just hate that mother earth gets stuck w/ all our left over crap

  • This was taken from New Scientist wasn't it? Seems a bit fishy to me.

  • do you know your vid sucks? its cool but terrible at the same time

  • do you know your comment sucks? it sucks but sucks at the same time.

    Go eat a tyre, Moron.

  • Yeah pretty boring... they should have done it differently would have been way more interesting

  • worste s**t ive seen on you tube

  • Well from everything I've read, once the material has been broken down into it's basic components, alot of what comes out is gas. Some of which is then piped back into the system to continue powering it.

  • Great idea! Bad vid.

  • very interesting but the vid is horrible :/

  • Top quality

  • hey guys, it looks like just the beginning of the video is screwed up; if you jump ahead a little bit it will synch up the video with the audio and work fine from there on.

  • They probably zapped the soundtrack edge of the video in with microwaves without realizing it. Meanwhile, I would like to know the net energy from this: It must lose some energy, but how much? Certainly zapping plastics without adding to Global Warming is a great idea. It would be nice to get that electricity from renewable sources.

  • Gizmodo that was poor.

  • They might have solved one of the greatest human pollution problem (plastic) and cant even get a descent vids to show it!

  • Jizzmodo, your video is F$CKED-UP OUT OF SYNC!!! Morons. Plus your website redesign blows chunks.

  • Excellent information

  • 1. Fix your video

    2. Why you force yourself to speak liek Arnold?

    3. Great technology!

  • Great technology, horrible video.

  • the video is really messed up... the sound is way off

  • corrupt

  • That should be out in shops, i saw this on a program once, but it was said to be dangerous and only done by proffesionals =/

  • cool thats a better way of gettin rid ov shoppin insted ov leavin em to rot n kill shit off

  • cool

  • this video need to be taken off it sucks

  • your video looks WAY out of sync..

  • nice video

  • Interesting stuff. If only we could all have these.
