Man can't believe some of the comments!! Almost a year ago and it still hurts thats why I'm not sleeping and up in the middle of the night for some reason still looking at the babys others lost the same way. Lost my boy Hayden to anencheply I can't get over it. My wife is 7months and everything looks healthy and I still keep thinking about Hayden. This child has more problems than just anencephaly. It looks like it's missing limbs, the skin appears premature and the entire body is misshaped more severely than most anencephalics would be.

Man can't believe some of the comments!! Almost a year ago and it still hurts thats why I'm not sleeping and up in the middle of the night for some reason still looking at the babys others lost the same way. Lost my boy Hayden to anencheply I can't get over it. My wife is 7months and everything looks healthy and I still keep thinking about Hayden. I will never be the same,,you guys shouldn't say such hurtfull things. I never would of guessed this could of happend to us we life healthy.

Done a bit of research on this subject, take heart, the chances of a woman having another anencephlitic child are next to none - especially if she takes Folic acid during pregnancy (chances then are down to 1%). Praying for you all. You will get through this ! You will never forget - that's the way we are - but it will get easier !!

I haven't lost my faith in people completely, but I lose a little more every time I see reactions like these. It is more heartbreaking to me than the tragedy of children born with catastrophic problems. At least this child was innocent, as you say.

they'd never live - they are missing the automatic nervous system which contols breathing and their heart rate.
if it survives birth, once the umbilical cord which is sustaining it is cut, it dies.
it's such an awful birth defect it's almost unbelievable but it is real :(

@XOMARILYN91 no, it's just a birth defect where early in the pregnancy the skull and brain do not form properly. this is an extreme case, but often times, the baby looks perfectly nbrmal with the exception of the deformity and with a little baby cap on, you'd never be able to tell them apart from another new born :(
