Water would be safe to drink if you reach 160 degrees the sun can do this. 2 Liter bottle 1/2 painted black left to face the sky do this with 2 days water needs so you can use one set of bottles and keep the other in the sun. This would save you time and energy and render your water safe to drink. After you can charcoal filter water get activated charcoal(walmart pets dept) a piece of pipe and some coffee filters build a filter that would make water perfect. Cost less than $10

@cdltpx how irresponsible to tell people to boil water when simply allowing it to sit in the sun with these modified bottles. Can you imagine the BTU's that would be generated by 2Gpeople heating water to a boil? A .5 micron filter would usually do to make water safe you can get one for under $25 from MDI domes dont pay hundreds of dollars for a filter that is just a filter this is not rocket science.

I was at a store in Davis sq. Somerville yesterday, looking for water. There was nothing left except seltzer and sports drinks.
