Sharp launches its first thin LCD TVs

I think both LCD and OLED and laser tv will co-exist together. Currently OLED technology only has a lifespan of 17,000 hours thats four to six years.

The latest LCD from Sony is a 40 inch 9.9 milimeter thick LCD and Sharp has a 52 and 65 inch 23 milimeter inch thick LCD with 60,000 hour lifespan. Even if you watch tv 12 hours a day the tv will last you 13.5 years and if you watch it 8 hours a day thats 20.5 years. Until OLED can match that its nothing more then marketing tricks.

who cares how long it lasts. the rate technology progresses nowdays it will be obsolete in 2 years anyway.

Well maybe you don't care but if someone is dropping down 4k on a television i think they'd want it to last more then two years.

Hell back in the day my dad had and old curtis mathis for 35 years and it look great all the way up to the day it died.

Now adays buying a tv is more of a fad then an investment so why bother. An like i said; who has money to drop down on a tv ever two years.

Why not build me one like an OLED that last at least ten years.

I don't know why people are thinking this is going to kill plasma or LCD. The life span on one of these currently is 17,000 hours at 8 hours a day thats a six year life span and at 12 hours its 4 years.

Now take the newest Sony 9.9 milimeter 40 inch LCD or Sharp's new 23 milimeter or one inch deep LCD with LED back light at 60,000 hours and at 8 hours a day viewing on a 365 day a year scale thats a life span of 20.5 years and at 12 hours viewing a day thats 13.5 years using artificial LED

Seen thinner. Just wait for the European and US release of a computer companies LCD HD ready TV.
