Great Great Car! I had a chance for a test drive, with the 2.0 diesel, 163 hp, 400 Nm. Very very nice experience! You can see my experience with Volvo S60 by searching "Nicu Naum Volvo S60" or copy paste the link above :D
Not only that, but crash testing by the company is likely considered part of the product's R&D costs, which themselves can cost a couple of billions of U.S. dollars easily. The wholesale cost of the cars (the retail price is not a factor) amount to mere drops in the bucket of the R&D budget.
Plus, in a way, it's also marketing; if your car can't perform well in crash testing yet is allowed to be sold, once people learn that fact they may avoid the car in droves.
No, because the barrier was deformable. Remake this video with a concrete wall and you will see your beloved Volvo getting crushed with no survivability for the passengers.
2 things!!! one dont waste your time and go straight to 9:30 and see the real thing and secong now that I see it Ihad the same type of crash with a WV Polo a year ago and it is exactly the same thing. I am still alive only a bit a brusing but the car did need some extensional work on it and put me back some 5.ooo euros. so to hell wiht all the bloody talk!
Iknow that he goes on for ever and thats always like that!!! when you have to talk to ceos and other important people its all talk and little action but hey! thats our world today and thats why we dont get very far!!! oh well hope by the time I finish this commetn that I can see something worth while!!! nop still talking!!! he he ok ok I will be patient!
the nine minutes were boring thats what i hate about auto network they bore me until the actual topic appears on the video ! the 52 seconds were the best! pretty safe car
but everybody else has caught up....its true volvo USED to be the safest cars on the road (esp now with some of the chassis shared with ford :( ), but now....a lot of companies are there, and even surpass them, I.E. subaru...i think volvo tries to over-sell on the safety factor

I like volvo but whats the deal with them having a crumple zone on the barrier? Im sure if it was just cement it would have bin a different outcome.
oGnocas 1 year ago
@oGnocas I believe it's to simulate another cars crumple zone.
