I think it was a good idea of Namco. Personally, i think thats cool to think that Leo is neither a boy or girl.

@Itasasu72 Yeah checked it. If you played him in the Scinario Compaign mode you'll see that everyone calls him a boy. And his voice actor is the same woman who made the voice of Ash from Pokemon. Ash is a boy so that's extra proof.

Just to let you know, I am hoping to get a PS3 for Christmas. I'll remember to unlock Leo before I start Scenario Campaign since they give you the option to unlock anyone before you begin and I will remember to look for either Heihachi or Anna. My uncle always allows me to play when my dad and I visit him, but he's finished Scenario Campaign already. I'm sure you can play through it again, but most of the time, my dad and I battle it out (Yes my dad plays, too).

Ive never played 6 Ive grown up playing tekken and Ive never had a character that was hard to play as... So i just depends on how you use em unless the changed the way you play i imagine they kept it the same =)

I think it's just that people are so used to seeing the beefed up male characters in Tekken, that they rely on that alone to judge the character as a guy. I dunno, I just hate picturing Leo (which is an ultimate guy name in my opinion) as a female... Yes, it's true the name is pronounced differently than spelled, but, perhaps change the spelling?

Leo is male, you can see that when you lose a round with him.
in tekken 6 if you lose a round playing as a man, he will get up in an specific way and all the womens gets up in a diferent way

Ive never played 6 Ive grown up playing tekken and Ive never had a character that was hard to play as... So i just depends on how you use em unless the changed the way you play i imagine they kept it the same =)

An interesting note about Leo is the mystery surrounding the character's gender, which is left ambiguous to the point that in the game itself, Leo is referred to only by name or gender-neutral terms. Leo has no costumes that reveal any portion of the torso, which would normally make the character's gender clear. But in the official artbook from Namco Leo is in a MALE category

It's weird but first time i heard Leo was a girl. There was something familiar about the char.

But theres one thing bothering me & i can't point at this char
Until i remembered (just now) an old anime "Shin hakkenden". there's a character there introduce as a man wearing white formal clothing similar to 2PLeo costume. but that Leo reminded me of that char "rei"

Heihachi may refer to Leo as male, but Kazuya mentions Leo's mother and states that Leo is "his mother's little girl". He remembers the daughter who grew up to be Leo. She's a girl. The website is wrong and this has been stated.

Leo is a 'boi.' He has a male item (sledgehammer). Leo can also do headbutt circus with Heihachi, which is a male only trait. He's just very feminine. I think it's just that people are so used to seeing the beefed up male characters in Tekken, that they rely on that alone to judge the character as a guy. I dunno, I just hate picturing Leo (which is an ultimate guy name in my opinion) as a female... Yes, it's true the name is pronounced differently than spelled, but, perhaps change the spelling?

Leo is by far my favorite character in Tekken, trust me, she's a girl XD
I was hoping she was a boy at first too, but I actually really like her just as she is. There's already tons of pretty boys out there, so Leo really stands out, and I think it's really cool that there's a total reverse-trap tomboy character for once.
Trust me, even as a girl, give Leo a chance and you'll like her x3
