IMO, when Frank says "Jesus wept", I think he was comparing himself to Christ. One of the more brutal styles of Crucifixions practiced by both the Greeks and even the Japanese durring the Shimabara Rebellion, Jesus was crucified. Long and painful - knowing before hand of his fate. Frank is comparing himself to Jesus in that with Frank's pain (more brutal than Jesus' it seems), he is not giving into crying, weeping, or anything. Making himself look more - in vein - "Macho". IMO
