I saw Wilco Johnson on TV when I lived in New Zealand. This was about 1984-85 & he did this great song that had a fantastic guitar riff. He sang something about it being "my last ride, don't know why". Johnson was so good, & his technique on the guitar was with metronome presicion & the audience were on their feet, some crowding the front of the stage. I wish I knew the name of the song. Does anyone have footage of this show?
Playing in such a simple style, so steadily and confidently, he reminds me of Bo Diddley. Music needs players like this! relaxed and exciting at the same time...
I saw Wilko play w Bo Diddley at Dingwalls Camden Town - pretty much the best gig that evr happened anywhere in the Universe. Was any1 else there? It was late 70s or early 80s I think.
Seen him a few times - back in 76 ish with the Feelgoods and latterly with his own band. Never fails to deliver. Word of caution - today's Dr Feelgood has none of the original members (have not seen them yet) - but I encourage anyone to go see Wilko and not just for his manic delivery etc but you get a double treat with one of the world's best bass players, Norman Watt Roy.
You are right...the outfit that somehow get away with calling themselves Dr. Feelgood now aren't worth bothering with (any1 know how they got to claim the name?). But if you get the chance to see Wilko and Norm...don't miss.
In 1975/6 i saw Dr Feelgood 4 times with Wilko, 20years later (1995) I saw Wilko play again in a music pub with Norman Watt-Roy on bass, he was fucking great, He had that battered old Telecaster pluged in to a Fender bassman amp ( no effects) what a sound.
Also over here in England I didn't spot the subtle humour in your post. Sorry I called you an idiot. Good to see Wilko has so many fans around on Youtube, as Max Miller used to say "there'll never be another"...

Don't be so sensative Knobstick, I was kidding with you. Over here in England we call it 'irony'....

No worries. I was lucky enough to see Wilko play with Ian Dury in my home town Bracknell. What a night that was
FullersLondonPride 4 years ago
Surely some1 who calls themself 'knobstick' knows about irony?

Now calm down, lol, it's only four days this time!
Missed Wilko at Colne blues festival this year, he cancelled at last minute, Walter Trout did his spot, not quite the same somehow...
