Hay i found a lovebird & Decied to keep him never ever had a bird before i got him toys & The right Food & water. Was Wondering in his water dish when i clean it ( once/twice Daily) it smells like throw up but i only see pee, poop & Cracked seeds.I havent seen or heard him throw up.Rather then that he is fine he jumps on me he ( Sometimes) lets me pet him.& how can i build trust he sometimes get very agreesive & bites me hard & his beek is like 2 giant knifes. It Draws blood sometimes. Thanks
When i had a bird, it used to be in an open-doored cage all day long (except for night time). The only times i would close it, was when there were visitors or lots of movements in-out doors. The bird had the run of the place. This means also around lunch & dinner time. If one time or another i would leave the room while something would be cooking, i would feel more secure if the bird knew the furnace is 'no-go' zone, rather than a play pen.
if i were you i would allow them to sit on the stove. They cant read dials or 'see' heat. One day or another they might go land on it get their feet burnt.
i have a 2 month old peach face who not hand fed and panicked every time i tried to get near her,i managed to get her out of our cage and clipped her wings and let her see that she can't fly away.i held her in my palm and rubbed her head so she could get used to me,worked like charm!she is just like stargartz4's birds, just as tame.
just clip their wings and keep them on your hand they cant fly away and are scared of heights so she will get used to you
@stargazrt4 my brothers was hand fed and boy does she ever bite! she made me bleed while i was trying to train her step up... i hope mine isnt like tht...
I just bought a baby from a bird center, I named him Tecon and he'll be coming home soon. he's actually younger than the ones in this video, but he's just getting some feathers XD
Thank you for your advice, but we never turn on our stove even for a moment when the birds are out. Before we cook or even eat, the birds go up. This is the way we live, this is our routine. It is like breathing to us. All toilet lids are closed and bathroom and bedroom doors are shut. We even picked our new home for our bird's safety more than ourselves. I know you all are concern, but we are the ones who are the continence ones on safety issues.
To correct the ignorance of your response, clipping wings is the same as cutting hair or your nails. Breaking human legs hurts because of the presence of nerves.
I know it does not hurt!!! Its not the point. Birds have their wings to fly with, they have to get away if they get scared. You take away some of their confidence for your on sake.
Oh, you must have wings! That is so cool. I wished that I had wings. The primary feathers themself do not have a blood or nerve supply just like hair. Clipping the correct way allows the bird to glide across the room. He simply can not get lift. As far as confidence goes, there is not a macaw, dog, or cat alive that has the confidence of our lovebirds.
Yes though Stargazrt4 is 100% right, our lovebird had her wings cliped i recused her im and only 11, she was 100% fine with it!!! you r wrong though petraolofsson, i bet u dont even know about birds
Very cute. You seem to be an excellent bird breeder.
One suggestion: I'm not paranoid, but am bird safety minded. It might not be a good idea to show your birds that it's OK to be on the stove. Esp. since your stove doesn't "look" hot, even when a burner is on.
I'm sure you're careful; its just a thought.
When you're distracted, even for a moment, those "kids" can get into real trouble.
I just love your lovebirds. They are adorable! I have a peachface that I would love to get a friend for, will you have any babies available this coming year?

Please don't question our Christianity because we breed birds. We merely let nature allow them to go through reproduction rather than taking that away from them.
Through the videos, pictures, and visits we get from our clients, we think we made the right choices in the families that took home our precious babies.

how do you not make them fly everywhere?????
my parakeet goes around the house flying.
solomolo207 3 years ago
Solo:
You can have someone clip their wings. It doesn't hurt them, and keeps 'em from flying too much.
Still, don't take 'em outside. They are so light that even with clipped wings, a gust could carry them away.
That happened to me, and my bird almost had to land on a busy road! Luckily, he just made it across the street into a tree. Whew!
Also, make sure to clip only the first 6-8 feathers on BOTH wings. That way, the bird can still fly enough to cushion its landing if it falls.
