Anyway Gunwebsites, you rock, nice project, you can be political adviser if I run for President too. First I got to serve my apprenticeship, then play the bass with Vise President Nugent on MTV. So I'll keep ya advised, meanwhile have fun:)
@profsat5 Serving your country doesn't make you an expert on civilian firearms manufacturers. Certain manufacturers build parts to better tolerances than others. To state that all parts are the same is a gross oversimplification.
@TheSlackerkid114 Can you? Yes. Can you legally? Not recommended. Your best bet as of 2011 is to buy a full auto rifle to begin with, or buy a Slide Fire Solutions SSAR-15 stock kit. You can also look at the "poor man's bump fire kit" which is easy enough to find here on YouTube.
If these sound expensive, they are, but prison is far more expensive.
Full auto carbine fire isn't all that great anyhow; I kept my M4 on semi the whole time I was in the Army. M249s and Mk-19s do full auto right.
@TheSlackerkid114 If you buy this chunk of metal from the Movie "RED DAWN" etc, you can. They call it a Receiver by law, cause it receives what ever you project.
Well um, more accurately than GunWebsites' statement, the AR-15 is the original design that Eugene Stoner came up with, which would become the CAR-15 and the M16.
You could use it to refer to the whole family as well. In modern times, it would refer to all civilian versions of the M16. Hence the semi / full auto distinction.
@SuperBobjon Also some AR15 models and brands dont share the same military feature such as forward assist, m4 feed ramps, buffer tube size etc. But yeah essentially AR15 is civilian semi auto and m4/m16 is military.
so is that ar-15 custom made? I'm not a gun expert like you, but I know that that doesn't look like a regular ar-15. still, what would i know, i like in the UK, firearms are illegal :(
Firearms in the UK arent illegal..... Semiautomatic centerfire rifles are illegal but there are several companies in the Uk selling straight pull ARs.... its got the AR look but when you pull the trigger you have to cock the gun again to load in the next round.
You went all out with the witness marks I see, lol. I use a green sharpie pen myself. They are very slim lines and are considerably less intrucive to the athstetics of the weapon. I also recommend a sharpie pen for use as a normal pen as well since my testing of one lasted 5 months of daily use.
@theairsoftguy57 I think it's so that if you move those parts or if they move by themselves through recoil, you can just line the yellow spots back up.
@weinermanmanweiner The "ar-15" is just the receiver parts. Dont think that you can only outfit a gun like the military does. You can do barrels from 6 to 24 inchs with and ar 15, have different gas lengths (M4 uses carbine), and modify virtually everything on it. You can, of course make it similar to an M4
@weinermanmanweiner The M4 and AR-15 are basically the same gun, but the M4 was outfitted for the military to have fully automatic capabilities. The AR-15 is what most civilians would carry only except most are not fully automatic. You should know unlike COD the military trains their soldiers to fire their rifles on semi-automatic so you reload less, distinguish if your firing at friendlies, and to be more accurate.
@IMFDB i know i only said i like the m4 more because that is the one i am more familiar with and comfortable with i,ve shot the ar 15 but don,t have nearly as much expirience with it
@weinermanmanweiner Really? I don't see much of a difference between a stock AR-15 and stock M4 except one has a full auto selector switch. When you look at this AR-15 in this video it doesn't look like a M4, but the controls are in the same place as an M4, only this has a longer barrel and a enhanced stock. Just because you don't like the type of AR-15 you fired doesn't mean you don't like them all.
I always wondered what was that sort of handle on the right side of the upper receiver. I saw in a videogame (Counter-Strike Source) that it was some sort of charging handle, but as it is a videogame I really doubt its what it is.
Is there any video that explains how it works and what does it do? If not, could you please make one? Thank you in advance
@SuperTemplar2 It's called a "forward assist". The charging handle only pulls the bolt back, you can't push the bolt in with the charging handle. It it wasn't designed this way, the charging handle would fly backwards when the rifle is shot and hit the user in the face. If a round doesn't go all the way into the breach, (dirty gun, etc) you can push the forward assist which will shove the bolt forward.
@SuperTemplar2 It's called a forward assist. The forward assist is a button that, when hit, will push the bolt carrier forward, ensuring that the bolt is locked. Hope this helps.
@SuperTemplar2 Forward assist. If you look at the bolt carrier (hunk of metal that carries the bolt), it has small cut notches about a third of and inch in length. The forward assist is just a metal tube that engages with the notches, making sure it is completely engaged with the locking lugs
@GunWebsites Lol, that is funny. I take it you never use the foward assist. I am not an AR fellow myself, but I found if I have to use a forward assist, there is indeed something majorly wrong with that rifle. I guess it will get your rifle working long enough to survive till you can service it.
@IMFDB----- this is weapon is a 14.5" gun not a 18"-20" at all bro!!
