@Void304 Actually, on the DVD (higher res) if you look closely at the revolver he's using it's either a 9 or 10 shot revolver.. they were pretty uncommon, but they did exist. This is actually why earlier in the movie Robert Duvall is commenting on Costner's character liking a "lighter" weapon. It's a smaller caliber to fit more rounds than the usual 6-shot revolver.

Alot of people see a revolver and think "six-shooter", but actually they did a good job making this movie technically accurate.

@SabaothChristou Interesting, I've seen wheel guns that were five shots, and even one that was four. However, I didn't know someone had made a 9 or 10 shot cylinder.

@SabaothChristou well that maybe but a proven fact..is these guns were way inaccurate..lol..be lucky to hit anything more then 15 yards the powder was so inconsistent..i have never seen a 9 shot revolver ever..they must have been extremely rare..
