i think the "best friend" Freddie was referring to in the song was Mary Austin who was his lover for six years and on and off afterwards. When he died he left the bulk of his considerable fortune to her including his lavish Georgian mansion in London's Kensington. His mentioning of wandering is his desire to have male lovers as well but it seems Mary was the one he turned to when he needed someone to turn to. And of course his bandmates were the closest of friends. but Mary i think was speciel.

The Phoenix Trust, based in Montreux, Switzerland, where Queen have their own recording studios.

Freddie was close to Mary's eledest son. He taught the little boy to say his first words, 'tractor' and 'guitar'. Perhaps a part of Freddie that would have liked a family life, a happy home with a wife and children. He was very dovoted to both loves of his life - Mary and Jim.

I am sure John is thinking of his wife when he performs it.. Stevie Nicks wrote Leather and Lace for a country singer to sing for his wife but thier relationship fizzeled and the country singer ended up not using it so Stevie recorded it herself but her perspective is very different.

What I did write was my theory on what I believe is Freddie's point of view when he was singing this song based upon facts in Freddie's life. Since a singer must interpret and make it thier own the song he or she sings for it to be relevent and not karaoke. Mary and Freddie's relationship is deeply moving and I also hope this song is played during the movie.

I can't over how much of a legend Freddie was. He revolutionized music. He didn't care how silly his outfits were or how weird what he did on stage was. He just acted how he wanted to. He really set the benchmark that still hasn't been beaten on the musical and inspirational stage. He deserves more respect than any artist. He beats any artist who has to use auto tune or any of that bullshit voice editing. He sung about things that matter and had meaning to his lyrics. <3 Freddie forever.
