  • styling is just beautiful. hard to believe it was derided at the time.

  • how come my 69 buick rivi caNT spin without the brakes? it just boggs and dies. ANY TIPS?

  • @Mr420fighter Something is out of adjustment, most likely the accelerator pump. What kind of carb are you running? Mine had an Edelbrock 750cfm, but it would still roast them with the Quadrajet. The difference in power between the rebuilt motor with level 2 crower cam and the stock motor was enormous. It has a lot more power through the whole rpm range.

  • thier the most stylish cars of late 60`s-early 70`s.

  • simply amazing :)

i watched this video, then again and again and again...

  • Now that's how to do a burnout! Not like these guys who put on the break and have their tires spin. Those types of people shouldn't even have cars, lol

  • beautiful american car, this is super car

  • now that's torque. love it,love it

  • Gotdamn...what kinda trans u got? is this car all original? Supe it up some more man,and put that bitch on the track. you can make it an 11 or 12 second car.

  • @str8OuttaNaptown30 Its got the stock TH400. On this run I put it in L1 and just ran it to the top of first gear. I have a second video where I left it in drive and it upshifted in the middle of the burnout!

  • yes sir , now that's a real car ,no b.s japan/china made junk

  • Nothing like a buick 455-4 brl with 400 ft-torque average to push that 2+tons car...great american build muscle car ;)

  • Nice burnout sounds good to

  • Great burnout......just like in the good old days!

  • One Legger but still that was impressive. No brakestand or nothing

  • Now thats what you call a goddamn burnout. None of that standing on the brake shit.

  • nice burnout

  • throw it in low 1 and go

  • nice n healthy :)

  • fuck yeahh man

  • Great burn with the Riviera's early 70's 455. But this engine, although larger than previous Riv engines had a lower compression ratio that rated them around 255hp. The '67 Riv used a 430 engine that bosted 360hp. Now that Riv will light 'em up.

  • That's a burn out! Put it in 1st and stand on it. WELL DONE.

  • one of the best lookin cars ever made!

  • I WANNA 455 IN MY FIREBIRD :-O

  • мечта!!!!

  • hell yeah man. my bro just put a 455 in his 87 cutlass. it's a bitchin motor.

  • Looking at getting a 75 anybody know if they got the posi and what was in them engine wise for that year?

  • @newfiesledz 70-76 all had the 455. The posi was a rare option and hard to find for this rear end. I think its call the corporate rear end and is something like 9 and 3/4 inch. Mine is a 2.93 rear end, the GS had around a 3.43.

  • christ i wish they made cars like this still..its like wtf the modern day riviera is FWD??? i just can't get over that

  • My dad's friend owns one just like this except yellow, and did an almost identical burnout in front of our house! Same length, same tire sounds, even a similar amount of smoke! I'm tellin ya, that 455 is somethin' else!

  • Yeah!:D

  • i'm almost crying... it's so beautifull! 6/5!

  • i have to say...i wanna buy a buick riviera boattail...but i would just drive it at the weekend when the sun is shining...not only because of saving the car, also because the gas....does anyone know how many litres it needs per 100 kilometres?

  • about 25l per 100km ;]

  • jep...this is sick ^^

  • 17+ driving my 76 hard ive used 25l in 70kms

  • holy shit xD

  • @apeson89 I can tell you miles per gallon. This car was my daily driver for 5 years. With the stock motor and a quadrajet I averaged 11 mpg. One time I got 14.5 cruising at 45mph on the PCH. With the bigger cam (same low compression) I get 10.

  • the riviera was not a muscle cab but a cruiser the gearbox is not quickshift and it is as heavie as a car licence would allow

  • @harry8292 I call it a Gentleman's muscle car. And I call the styling Arrogant Styling

  • Hell ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fuck yeah fuck rice burners in the ass without lube with that beast it will run right through the side of there car and keep going ive heard alot of stories about buicks and drunks the car doesnt quit thats why all the old buicks are awesome i have a 72 buick skylark w 100 spoke rims on youtube im a buick fan forever...........

  • dude... the 1971 riviera boattail is my favorite car of all time... since i am only 14 i hope they arent illegal because of the gas issues by the time i can drive

  • amen man, im an olds guy myself, 69 toronado with a special "gt" 455, and man, im tired of the gas issue too, im 16btw. Buy american muscle is all i have to say,

    Murph

  • Trust me kid that wont ever happen. Cheers for liking the real cars of the '70's.

  • Nice buick!

  • fais en autant le king des faineant:momo grosse merde!!

  • oh my, i love these muscle cars, i'd trade any european luxury sedan of todays era over a muscle car like that one any day !!! just the sound makes me go crazy, shame that gasoline has become such a big issue, a friend of mine owns a 430 cui ' 68 riviera, and he's king on german streets with it!

  • love automatic transimssion!! how many HP?? thanks man!!!

  • the normal 455 wasnt too "bangin", around 250 stock, and if its in normal condition, about 25 ponies escape. THEN ITS TIME FOR THE SUPERCHARGER MWAHAHA.

  • yea fantastic great!!

  • It would look pretty sick with one sticking through the hood!

  • @MagicalMrSkylar try 350 stock and mine has 600 hp with some small mods

  • M. Mrskylar was wrong.

a stock GS stage 1 will have 330 hp

and this car is stated as "mild"

so could have any were from 300 - 400hp.

    oh ya.....and globs of torque!

  • Yeah, this isn't a stage one and I built it to run on 87 octane. So I did that burnout on 87 octane with an 8.5:1 compression motor. Not bad eh?

  • wow, sweet :D

  • Bicycle charlie's are easy in anything with some power, but that was still a long way, and sounded good too.

  • oh shit, those big fuckers got some power!!!!

  • one wheel burn outs aren't cool

  • i WANT TO TRY AND FIND ONE OF THESE, RUNNING AND IN OKAY SHAPE.. ANYBODY GOT ANY SUGGESTIONS?

  • Most Rivieras are classics. I had a '63!

  • boat tail power: interdit au cranes, kokelets, omos, gris, tantes, pucelard!

  • I love this car. I'm on my own mission to find one for myself. It would be black with a clear coat finish like this one, I'd tint the windows, replace the original engine with a big block fuel efficient engine so I can enjoy it with out worrying about fuel so much, I'd find the Riviera chrome rims and update the radio to something to suit it's needs.

If you ever think of selling, reply to this message and let me know.

"I love the sound of the revving engine."

    Cheers

  • i love this fuckin vidd mine is a 71 but i drive it like granny want it to last forever its all origial

  • Boat-tails kick ass

  • that seemed like it was more than 100ft to me

    nice buick

    5 stars

  • fuck off!

  • fuck you asshole buicks rock

  • could be true that 74 buicks came with front wheel drive but boattails are 71-73...totaly different car...

  • Yes...a REAL burnout. None of that fake brakestand crap that every loser around posts. They are sooooo borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring! Go Buick!

  • i did a 300ft burnout at the local 1/8 mile in my 1988 monte carlo ss...with no brakes go chack it out

  • Nice car. 455 four barrel?

I had a 72.. my first car and that thing was built like a tank and was pretty quick for it's size. It would definitely do a similar burnout to what you have in your video. I don't remember what kinda gas mileage it got, but it wasn't good. I'd guess around 12 or so.

  • It has throttle body fuel injection on it now, brought the mpg up from 10 to 11, lol. But, not may cars can burnout like that on 87 octance gas!

  • A real burnout not that foot on the brake bullshit. Nice.

  • i thought rivieras were front wheel drive?

  • you got to be joking....?

  • not at all my friends dad owns a auto lot and has a 74 thats fwd

  • The boattails were all RWD, but there were a few models that were FWD. That's when GM were going more for luxury. FWD meant more room in the cabin.

  • After 1978 They were Front Wheel Drive. Part of the confusion is that Eldorados, Toronados and Riviera are all "E" bodies, but the Riviera is RWD.

  • My best friend had basically this exact car in a dark red, and it was insanely fast for its size. If I remember right, the '71 was the best, because it narrowly predates the, more, modern mileage regulations.

  • best car ever built

  • Now thats how to BURN RUBBER! There is a few videos of claimed "burn outs" on YouTube and they are utter CRAP! Some idiot filming himself driving off, IS NOT A BURN OUT. Well done bud, you've shamed alot of Skylark owners. BEAT THAT!

  • Tom,

Nice car, but it's a '72, not a '71. Yours appears to have rubber bumper strips. '71s didn't have them. '72s did to help meet 2.5 mph bumper regs.. '73s had the big shock-absorbing front bumper and a smaller point in the rear boattail to conform to the stronger 5mph bumper laws in '73. Then in '74, when the rear bumpers had to be as strong as the front, Buick got rid of the boattail altogether. Also, the boattail never caught on.

  • No, it does not have the rubber bumper strips. It appears that way because of the reflection. You know what your talking about, but so do I, its my car.

  • that was wicked and it wasn't a bullshit burnout either.

  • No posi?

  • I love it, a real burnout!

  • amazing car

    the best car ever made

  • DAMN

  • very verry nice burnout, i have i buick to, its a 1968, sport car, 7 liters engine with 360 hp

  • Respect~The Boattail.

  • i fuckin love this riviera 71-73 455 all the way 360horsepower STOCK!!!!!!

  • not 360hp dude ... its around 280hp

    I have a 72 and 360 its the torque...

    and its a 7.2 litres 455.4

  • No, its 315hp, this one has about 330. 500 is the torque. 7.4 or 7.5 liters depending on whether you go by 60 or 61.13 cubes per liter.

The 455-4 on the air cleaner is for 455ci and a 4 barrel carb.

  • I love V8's

  • What a beauty.. I should move to China to drive that car.. 17p for a litre

  • dude sweet car whats in it the 455?

  • my friend ses he was near that when it happened is that true? his name is Hunter Marr

  • ethan i was close when that happened idot

  • sum 1 thumbs down all o these 'sept the 1st 1

  • Beautiful car. My dream.. Damn current oil prices! >:(

  • ROFL I love big blocks, especially showing off pushing that boat lol

  • do a burnout in a 4000+ pound car? that's pure buick torque:510 ft-lbs at just 2800rpm

  • Ha ha ha . Gotta love the roar of the 350 h.p. plus 455 BIG Block. 71 Riv's are the best looking esp. in black.

  • That's a real burnout, none of that power braking shit

  • brakie stand fuck the tramsmission nice car does it has the engine tune up sounds great .

  • Very stream-of-consciousness...Wait a minute, are you William Faulkner?

  • Hehe, wish my 96 had a V8 like that!

  • Nice burnout on the rivi

  • that is badass, my 73 will do about the same

  • i love you riviera

  • The best looking car... rock'on !!

  • nice burnout

  • ive got one too...gas is getting to be a bitch

  • I need to post video of my friend Chad's 71 riv. He does a great burnout.

hey rex royal, Bill Mitchell and Dave Holls both worked on the boattails.

  • Do a brake stand next time.

  • gorgeous. Now I can really see why it was Bill Mitchell's favourite design

  • But can you see why kids love cinnamon toast crunch?

  • NICE BOAT-TAIL RIV DUDE!!!

  • beautiful! love it
