USA produces lots of CO2. Why wasting so much money on military? So much abandoned project, like Commanche. Give them to research and do something. And don't make wars for oil. Tesla sedan is sexy, but this is only a starting point. We need more (and not only) battery research.
Daimler bought 10% of Tesla Motors....and Fund Aabar Investments PJSC from Abu Dhabi have 9,1 % from Daimler.....i think they want to destroy the electric car...
shit.. they will always want to destroy the electric car.. ones people this comes out.. am sure people little by little will move to electric cars... no Black gold will be use.. for cars.. maybe a few of them.. but I will keep my finger cross and pray that this does comes out to production before they destroy it..
WOW!.. really!... screw GM motors.. they just want people to keep using oil.. even tho the car is some what expensive.. but am sure little by little this will be a progress to change to all electric..
@Combo2049 You're right. Once they start mass producing these bad boys, the price will drop and ultimately they'll be cheaper than their oil-based counterparts. The oil giants have every reason to be shaking in their boots: cars like this will win over the average American consumer.
It's all part of the business strategy. With the tech they have now they could probably create a carboard box with a battery and charge you 30k for it. That's why it makes more sense to price these things appropiatly. As time goes on the price goes down quickly with what they learn (and earn) from their luxury models.
Their business plan from the beginning has been to start with the wealthy and work their way down. This car will run you $50,000. Their next model, codenamed bluestar (this was whitestar), will be $30,000. They have also talked about collaborating with other companies to make even cheaper cars.
@777truthsetsufree Actually thanks to government "going green" plan, in which government subsidized most of the cost so that this vehicle is only $45,000 USD startup prize.
Think of it as the government way of investing in a green future. There is a chance that the next gen will have to pay for it but considering the amount of money our gov't spend on stupid things, this is one of the wiser investment.

the govt subsidized GM but it still failed in the end
the govt should have given all the bailout money to TESLA instead
and GM claimed there is no demand for expensive electric cars

ok that is not too bad, but government subsidizing is costing everyone. on the long run, we and the next generation pays for it.
