Great. I woulda liked a horn thrown in there just for more layers but was still a great cover of the original song. Maybe more smiling? Ah, im done critiquing you guys got something going here.
hey, i realise this vid was uploaded ages ago, but just wondering if anyone still has the bass music for this piece? I want to do it for my hsc prac... would be much appreciated if you could let me know :)
I'm sorry to be correcting, but the introductory bass line (on the guitar, not the bass) annoyed me... its supposed to start on the & of 4, not 1..... combined with the effects, it sounded almost like the y of 1. But it is still amazing song choice with some great talent.
wow this is amazing!!! im diggin this (slightly) faster version! u should do a sick 53-minute-long jam of this tune, gooin back and forth from guitar and bass leading!
This is definitely creative, and very different from the original tune. I like it, but it just doesn't sound right, especially around the 2:00 to 2:30 mark.
@wesman2232 their artifical harmonics, cover the string at the pickup with your thumb and then pluck with your index right behind your thumb, this creates an 'artifical' harmonic, if that didnt help, research it or watch jaco do it! : )
someone tell me how the hell I do the bass part at the beginning, i have sheet music and it is just all over the place and I can't figure out shit cause the notation in the back of the books doesn't tell me much (like what H.H means)
I like the interpretation, but being a bass player myself, it's a little sad to see the bass sulk back to the rhythm section, rather than being lead, as Jaco is in the original. Either way, you guys are incredibly talented.
This is great. Love this Weather Report cover! You should cover some of John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu stuff from that period (or a few years before), or some other fusion..not exactly what jam bands are playing right now, but fantastic stuff to play.
i'm not sure but i think the bass player used bass pedal effects instead of playing a fretless bass like in the original recording, the initial sound is quite too clear, am i wrong?
hey this is jason the bass player. i actually am using a fretless in this video, the begginning sounds like that because i used a technique called false harmonics like Jaco does on the recordings.
i'm glad you guys can appreciate good music, most talented kids i know only want to play metallica or ac/dc, they don't have a clue what they are missing out
Dang, nice job guys. I've been a professional bass player for 30+ years and I wish I could have played like you guys when I was your age, I'd be subbing for John Pattitucci today if I was this good back then.
Not bad for a cover. You guys need a sax and a keyboardist to really tackle it... But not bad. Agree with billyorbit, great that you'd tackle a chart from Weather Report.
great job guys. Just work on the artificial harmonics for the bass intro. you never went up an octave and it sounds like ur skipping a beat, but everything else sounded great.
You did a very good cover. I, as, a drummer, personally have to congradulate the drumer on that song. He stayed on time and added some real sweet licks. Im learning that song myself and to really play that song at that speed is amazing. Great job guys.
Weather report too???!!! you guys srsly are amazing ... and where did you find that guitar player?! he's just amazing. Drums and bass are amazing as well... hell you all are GODS!
ahhh jake, its dammers, idk if you remember this but we played this song in band like yearsss ago idk if it was middle school or not but ya i remember it .
There is a level of musical maturity here that amazes the heck out of me. From someone with two college degrees in music education, I congratulate these guys, and I hope they continue to play well!!!
