Six die in mid-air helicopter crash in Arizona

Unfortunate accident but I dont believe weather was a major contributing factor with these 2 high time pilots. They were close to the LZ and just didnt communicate and or see each other.

maybe we know eachother? i will apologize for my reactionary response. and i will also tell you that i am directly involved with this. what i was implying in my response is that the didactic approach of your comment (that i perceived, whether right or wrong), was dismissing the emotion that was too real for those i have been with the past few days up in flagstaff. my expression of anger was meant to protect the sanctity of the loss.

No anger here; not at that stage yet. We all try to let our feelings out in whatever way we find safe. Too many calls came in at once and I needed to post so I could unplug the phone. 6 dead 1 critcal. This is the second mid-Air Crash in AZ in less than a year. AZ temps in summer along with onset of monsoon triggers hazardous conditions. UPDRAFT - Rising air in the atmosphere. DIFLUENCE - Flow separation of a fluid air stream. DOWNSLOPE - Wind blowing down an incline. HEAT BURST - Sinking downdraft caused by convection. KATABATIC WIND - wind that develops from cooler sinking air down a slope of a mountain. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims. ~RJS

All that over one comment on summer air disturbances in AZ? The FAA will not issue their finding for weeks or even months. It was just a comment reminding people that the weather in AZ during this time of year are somewhat troublesome. This news caused great sorrow in my home. Would it matter if I were family? Friend? A pilot? Would you be as harsh if you learned I was the sister of one of the medical personnel? These were simply responses to emails and phone calls. We are all saddened by this.
