He is awesome. I must admit many years ago I was quite sceptical but several years ago as a student journalist he was kind enough to grant me an interview at his home and it was then that I really began to admire him and the hard work he puts into to campaigning for equality and human rights.

I was reading a news report on the BBC website about the history of Pride. It has a wonderful photo report showing them early days. Well worth a look.

Peter is right though, we can't be complacent with these celebrations, as a gay man I feel out of touch with these overt displays when so much needs to be done politically. Peter reminds us there is still such a long way to go in the equality battle.
