im going to be leasing a 15hh chestnut quarterhorse mare and she has arthritis and i wont be ablle to jump her but i can walk, trot, canter and show her but i still want her cuz she is such a great horse soo all you people who hve horses/ponys with arthritis dont give up on them they are still just as much fun as any other horse just no jumping.

In the club we have a horse 20 years old and he has the same problem and I can't understand why they are jumping with him... they are hurt him !!!

try a product called Inflamaway

works great. My friends horse is 29 or 30 and is on it and he can still ride his mare, he only rides her in good soft footing cause she gets ouchy on hard ground.But beofre he tried this product he couldn't ride her. I feel for ya and I'll keep my fingers crossed :>)

but im sixteen with arthritis and no you can't cure it, but i'd rather be living in pain than being put down anyday and there are things you can do to help. It's a difficult one though, it's probablly the most kind thing to do for a horse :) x

@katherine810 yeah but my pony has it mild. we have some medicine that mixs into his food and it can gallop all he wants. (which he does) Yeah hes happier now that we got that new medicine

your a great horse owner some ppl don't give a crap about their horses so when they do ride them the horse doesn't want to go and then they just buck their owners off and then the get sold to the slaughter house thats what i hate about this world they need to start treating animals with care cuz all they want is to be loved

thanks so much. my pony bucks me but i know why.cause rusalee he loves but i dont let him. but i dont go over the jumps. when i do there the lowest posible on cross jumps too. hes bad as a pony but i love him never thought of sending him to slauter maybye to sleep ( when he gets older than 30)

uhh what u should let him die at a natural death y r u gonna end his life short thats so mean if u were old say 99 and u were really uhh old and maybe sick too and ur family ended ur life now how would u feel about that horses should get respect just like any animal especially humans

no i shouldn't. sorry you are right but for my pony hes like Jake my mom old horse. he is getting in pain a lot frm arthritis and sickness and stuff. so he won't die in pain you should put them to sleep (unless they are heathly) sorry you are right but in that case (as i said) you should put them to sleep. (unless there heathly)
