Sounds as though one of the two strikers for the gong needs replacement, but the basic action is otherwise sound. Wonder how much effort is needed to fabricate a stock replacement striker (NOS Magnetic Signal parts being next to impossible to find)?
FYI - The train was parked in the industrial siding and was going to be there for quite a while - will try to get more wig wag action - 3 or 4 left here in downtown Fresno
awesome!

Train coming?
Bell is to strike at each end of the swing excursion.
From your location, is that signal beyond the track?
When ONE signal at a crossing, which was most often the case, if on your right, it is on the OTHER side of the track.
If on your left, it is on your side of the track.
Can'tell here.
Nw I see you explained below.
Explain in the Info box so viewers need not ask.
Thank you for posting this.

This Wig-Wag is still there as of Oct 9th, 2009.
Unknown if it is still operational though as I was at the location at approx 22:00 hrs, and no trains were around.

This one seems to swing a bit slower than others I've seen. But awesome it's still around, nevertheless. :)

it seems like newer railroad crossings with gates and electronic bells break down more than wig wags. how often do wig wags break down?
