  • The Who en vivo es impresionante

  • no offense meant to the great Pete Townshend, but I can't believe the camera man just focused on Pete chomping away on power chords while John played some of the most amazing lines ever heard in rock bass history.

  • What a find! This is immense.

  • The playing is just magnificent. There's something so loose and spontaneous about it all; like a band that's play together forever. I don't say this because this is my favorite band of all time, but THEY ARE my favorite band of all time! So there! Thank you Who and Pete for bringing us the music of our lives!

  • the evening i was born.....this song welcomed me into the world. FUCKING PT I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Singing a song without me. Only at the end does it lift off."

.... gotta be Behind Blue Eyes.

  • By Numbers is my favorite Who studio album, not a bum song on it. Townshend has always been best by being a realist lyrically and that album is as real as it gets!

  • By Numbers is my favorite Who studio album, not a bum song on it.

  • which is the song they were going to perform next to this, without Keith?

  • @tojoinbobdylan Probably Behind Blue Eyes, where he sits out the first part.

  • man moon is in top form here..it's crazy to think that just two years later he'd lost so much of his drumming ability and power

  • ...''only at the end does it lift off''

  • Townshend said this was the Who's most negative album.

The Who's success was due to each member's HUGE contribution and dedication to the band.

Pete's passion, energy and amazing guitar and creativity, Entwistle's driving base, Moon's thunderous drums and Daltry's powerful voice

  • Townshend said this was the Who's most negative album

  • @67buick350 Pete was referring to the depressing lyrical content of the album

  • This is drumming.....I love Keith so fucking much

  • pretty good bass on this one.

  • When Entwistle plays the bass, gods scream "John have mercy!"

  • I dunno how you are, how you look like or watcha do but i do know one thing: you are AWESOME for putting that show up.

    Many thanks.

  • This is probably the best song FUCKING EVER!

I like the name "CallMeLightning905," must be an Entwistle fan.

  • F**k Bob Dylan Pete Townshend is the MASTER!!!!!

  • john meatwhistle..

  • "I'd like to do 17 numbers off my new album..." LOL

  • The Who By Numbers is better live than on disc. Dreaming has to be one of their best live songs. I love the quality of this vid but it's too bad they didn't put more camera on Keith.

  • i got that wide awake give and take five o clock in the morning feelin

  • John just tears it up on this song... Great musicianship all around.

  • John loved this song and Pete hated it (live). Amazing video? Is this a DVD???

  • awsome

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • ah great improv always by my favorite bassist john Entwistle next to John Paul Jones.

  • Pete says he hates playing this song.... his reason being that Roger likes to sing it :PPP

  • Nice post cheers. but i don't think these songs work live. I love 'numbers' the album but this can't touch Tommy for the live performance. May be they are burned out.

  • Ferocious drums at 2:35.

  • awsome bass playing

  • The most underrated who album..so many great tunes..very poetic.....im to old to give up but to young to rest

  • Attended this show way back when, great that it is now on the web & therefore everywhere. First show of the tour, first musical performance at the Summit. Miss Moon & Entwistle, but the songs will go on forever. Enjoy them at the Superbowl.

  • These are really great WHO videos. Thank God for YOuTube and for YOU posting them.

  • This is all John. Miss him.

  • too bad there's no film/video from Swansea 1976 ... this performance isn't bad but the one at Swansea was IMHO the best ...

  • roger loved to play this song live. but pete hated the thrill that roger got out of playing it. thats prob why they didnt play it live much. Rock on Who

  • apart from every night on the 75/76 tour

  • Great clip, but what a terrible song to have the cam focused on Daltrey. The other three are lights out on this - would like to see more of them.

  • To each her own, I guesss.

  • moon at 2:36 holy christmas catz

  • it took me almost 3 weeks to get this bass line down and i still hear a new note every time.....the ox is the reason i started playing bass

  • thanks for posting..I've been a who fan since 1972...

  • at 3:28, Pete's jumping real high. Go Pete!

  • This vid make Pete look like he's three feet taller than Roger. ;)

  • I have been a Wholigan for many a year and this is my all time favorite Who song! Beautiful live, God bless the Ox wherever he may be ...

  • Comment removed

  • I AGREE WITH ON THAT !! seen them 3 times and never seen em do this live but this is my all time fav too !!!

  • Got a bootleg DVD of this show, and there's no doubt about it, they are brilliant start to finish.

  • this is slower thn the live version i have...

  • Enwistle. All time favorite bassist of all time. Idc what any1 says about flea or les claypool being better than Entwistle. He brought the bass to them ;).

  • If they are not the best live band ever. They are arguably in the top 5.

  • Well they are the best band ever.

  • The original lineup was the best.

  • I kinda agree they are neck and neck with led zeppelin

  • better

  • "Not necessarily in that order" Ha ha ha

  • The bass line in this song is fucking sick. Unbelievable.

  • Ah yes. Entwistle playing lead

  • I love the end with Moonie up there introducing his "three best friends."

  • Excellent, tks for posting this, brilliant stuff

  • In the linear for the "Live at Kilburn" DVD, it says this song is from "The Who Sell Out", who the fuck wrote that.

  • i know the linear for that concert is realt crewed up

  • what do you mean the linear , the booklet, and where cause i dont remeber that part

  • I love Dreaming From The Waist, one of my favorite songs and this is a wonderful performance :)

  • The Who By Numbers had a lot of underrated songs. It's often passed over, but I think it's the Who's best concept album. The concept is the ragged, dysfunctional self, pure and simple.

  • how is it concept, maybe just slip kid for the lifhouse project but thats it

  • I always thought it was underrated as well. This is a fantastic song.

  • @happykilojoule that's my favorite album by them

  • @happykilojoule Although your post is 2yrs old now, I couldn't agree with you more! "By Numbers" was (is) a GREAT album, with; Slip Kid, How Many Friends, Dreaming' From the Waist Down, Blue, Red, and Grey, However Much I Booze, and of course, the "pop ditty" Squeeze Box, just to name a few. HIGHLY underrated!

  • One word - Excellent! Sadly one of the most overlooked Who tracks, but a classic.

  • to me, the best vocal part of all time together with "put the money down"... roger is the best rock-blues singer I've ever heard!

  • uah! the sound here is really EXCELLENT! gracias!

  • whore ladies sad story has me quitely weeping....

  • john entwistle, whoa dude,,,,,,

  • Viva El OX !

  • Entwistle at his best!

  • Thank you so very much Ms.(?)Lightning! "Ya wanna got to a dog track on saturday night and put all our money on a dog that we like? Please let me know as I'm free. ;)

  • I like how Moon twirled his sticks as he ended the song. So cool!

  • Listen at 3:50 at how they are playing off each other--- simply amazing! I wish they showed Moon and Entwistle so I would know what they are doing.

  • 2:03

  • I saw them on April 18, 1980. The BEST concert I have ever seen

  • callmelightning, you got it, man! Good call putting on these great songs that will stand the test of time

  • Heh, I'm a chick, but you're welcome!

  • Chick and a Who fan... i think i'm in love! Talk to me whenever :)

  • You're the coolest chick in the universe!

  • Thanks callmelightning for sharing one of my favorite who eras.

  • amen! great vids callmelightning!!

  • Perhaps the best and strongest songs on The Who's most under-rated album. I wonder if this show will ever be released on DVD...

  • i sure hope so! this is really high quality vid too!

  • Moonie @ 2:40 - sheesh. If only they'd kept the cam on Keith. (Oh, and I'd like to strangle the "effects" dweeb!)

  • Just awesome and professional version of this classic.

  • John Entwistle at 00:34.
