  • This is a great song going to have this next year at my wedding

  • 10 times better than Potts.

  • I have loved Russell Watson's singing forever..He is great.

Have a listen toJames Corona singing this song

  • This guy was singing in working men's clubs around Manchester! to get to the level he has! has taken a lot of hard work ! he may not be the best taught but his voice brings pleasure to a lot of people! well done Russell Watson!

  • My Dad Was Listenin 2 This 1st,

An I Kind Ov Liked It, Lol,

    Gd Tune Fp, x

  • bolldy fantastic

  • This version is very subpar. He is not musical at all with it, and just because he can hit the notes and belt out the high A flat doesnt mean it is great. Plenty of people can hit that note. How you are able to hit and use it will determine if its good. He doesnt seem to know how to de crescendo either. Everything is just a sudden percussive release. And the diction is bad. Read the lyrics and then listen to perhaps an Italian or Spaniard sing this song. You will notice many, many faults.

  • Always look on the bright side of life:) you make me feel suicidal and I'm a pretty happy guy:(

  • 5 grades better than potts!

  • Beautyful,he must have had a lot of good training. He has "the X faxtor" I have never heard him for, will listen more...(I am more in the operas, put Rigoletto on youtube. ALL the tenor part. karifrid, Kári Friðriksson,a tenor from Iceland.)

  • I love Jan's version and am a huge opera fan with Bryn Terfel etc..Paul Potts is very poor but Russell Watson considering he has had limited training is brill....a little polish and he would be great..well done

  • this version is the one.... a stroll in the park for him ...

looks like a soilder or pilot from a WWII film.

  • i sang this song

if you click my ID you can see my video

    give some advice thank you!!

  • 1.22 ...and some people out there still believe that Jan Werner does it better, get a clue people!!

  • yes, Russell is a real tenor, and is way better than Jan (.)

  • I was there that night. It still brings tears to my eyes. He is a wonderful singer and a great bloke.

  • Fantastyczny występ i wielki głos i śliczna piosenka !

    5*****

  • Piekna piosenka... cudownie zaspiewana !

  • russell!! i remember my mom bought "the voice" and i listened to it ALLLLL the time! love this song :)

  • I agree that Jan Werner sings it better but I couldnt listen to it to the end as his Italian pronunciation is so terrible. Russell Watson to me is more pleasant to listen to as a whole.

  • Get Oudda here

  • He can't be compared to typical opera singers, becauae Russell Watson was never classically trained. He's just naturally fantastic!

  • Where does his voice come from?...he looks so relaxed, as if he's waiting for a bus....I like it that he doesn't take himself too seriously. 5*... this is in my favs now; thanks for the post.

  • Sarah Brightman was the first too sing this song. It was originally wrote as an instrumental

  • Listen to Jan Werners version ... different class.

  • In my opinion, Jan Werner is AWESOME...so much heart!!

  • My favourite version of Nella Fantasia is the performes by Tony Henry at Night of The Proms in 2007.

  • il divo's better... a lot better.

  • Comment removed

  • dont come any better than that. brilliant

  • now that's what i call a SINGER! he sings the hell out of that song. i love it!

  • LOVE HIM!!!

  • does he seem a bit "slick" anyone else?

  • excellent voice. enjoyed this.

  • e boe fixe

  • He's good, but not better than Jan Werner

  • ... if you prefer the norweigan accent

  • oh please...what accent?

  • I mean, I heard on the accent that Jan Werner was from norway before I read it.. but that doesn't make him a bad singer. And of course you don't hear it 'cause you're also from norway :)

  • I lived 12 years in Florida, so I can tell when someone has an accent or not, and in my opinion he has an excellent english accent. Not all singers chose to sing with an American accent...english and other variations of the language does exist outside of the US ;o)

  • Okey.. I was only thinking about his accent in nella fantasia. And I live in Rome now and my opinon is that Watsons accent is better than Werners, that's all.

  • oh ok.... :o)

  • is this the best, fantastic

  • By far the best version of this song

  • muy linda voz!

  • Its supposed to sing "bel canto" and not this short notes. He should have picked a key where he can manage to sing the whole phrase bel canto... This is bad, too fast and with no feeling at all.

  • I never get tired of hearing this kid. He is unbelievable! May he live long and bring music to a world that needs his quality of music. Love it!

  • Just the right depth and straight forward operatic. Beautiful!

  • its opera with a very handsome singer who has an angelic voice. brilliant!

  • pure sounds without any defect, just like voice from heaven,i like it

  • soundtrack of the film: Mission with robert de niro

  • i love this song-makes me fill up!!!

  • great!! he´s brilliant and I love the song!

  • I love how he sounds singing this song. So molto bene!

  • Average

  • classical music is something i've only recently started to appreciate, it's fantastic!!!! haven't got a clue what there saying but every time i hear songs like this it sends a shiver down my spine....... FANTASTIC!!!!

  • It's really worth looking up translations!! most are easily gotten online for free!! classical singers dispense with base theatrics and put so much emotion into thier voices. it's truly amazing.

  • Will do, thanks x

  • Cette chanson est magnifique! Les paroles sont très belles et la voix de Russell Watson est parfaite.

  • HERMOSO...simplemente HERMOSO, me encanta Rusell Watson...GRACIAS por el video es uno de mis favoritos. BENDICIONES.

  • Russell watson.....Brilliant!!

  • by far the best ever to sing that song

  • Just...brilliant

  • beautiful....beautiful

  • Creo que Russel es un gran cantante, con buena tecnica vocal. Su voz es dulce y a la vez tiene fuerza doinde lo requiere, ademas de ser muy guapo y contar con gran presencia escénica. Bravo por este tenor.

  • How well do you sing?

  • that was for human778899

  • Why the question? its a little dumb, I think. You probably expect me to say it doesn't matter, which is true, and you will say i'm an idiot for giving criticism. I did not comment on his singing ability. I simply noted the excess in nasality of some tenors.

    How well do you sing?

  • human I understand what you are saying, and yes there is the nasal thing, youve made me think about it.Yes,sorry, you see my mother was an opera singer many years ago, yes,I understand what you mean, and I cant sing too save my life.xxxxxx

  • makes my heart melt everytime i hear him.xx

    truly an angel.x

  • i think he sings it 2 fast :P its not as slow as it should be!

  • Wonderful job Russell, there are so many beautiful versions of this song. I would say Russell Watson & Bruce Andersons version are my favourites.

  • hav a look for jan werner version,

im not saying its better or worse, its another good version of a super song,

has russel got any tours planned?

  • Yes, starts in Ipswich on the 22nd March, ends in Isle of Man 5th May 2009. He may be adding more dates, keep your eyes open at Gigs & Tours.

    I'm going to 6

  • good job ... very hard rendition to reproduce.. especially in front of an audience.

  • breathtaking

  • This is great song and he has a good voice, but operatic technics are weak. Never the less a good job.

  • This was filmed 8 years ago, he's been through a lot since then, including 2 brain tumors, but had come out the other side better than ever! His voice is richer, deeper and as stunning as ever!

  • best voice in the world today.

  • wow, eso es voz, me encanta esta version de nella fantasia. Supero y por mucho a il divo este tipo coloca la voz perfectamente

  • That was a increndible performance. I love this song.

  • Mr. Countfay,

Your ego speaks louder than your true Self.

  • Your ignorance is astounding.

You don't know a thing about me.

  • Please hear jan werner danielsen... Rip.

    He is the best

  • Mindblowing

  • Very nice,but I prefere Il Divo.....

  • He is simply the best! everytime i listen to this song i cry..he makes me feel alive.

    i love him.x

  • Russell is very good singing this but the Celtic tenors along with the Vard sisters version is just mind blowing. I hope someone puts a copy on. I heard them sing it live 3 times it was so good but Russells version is very good too.

  • Have you already heard the dutch tenor Adri van der Weyde singing this beautiful song on You Tube? take a look because its amazing I think.

  • People these days only care about what other people think. I like to hear pure voices like Russel Watson. Thanks to Russel I have grown to love such beautiful music that would have never been exploided to without his help and I respect him as one of the best classical singer.

  • he is way better then paul potts

  • Get your head out your backside - he is a fantastic tenor. I saw the Three Tenors in person years ago and Russell blows them away. He is truly one of the worlds best tenors.

  • Sorry, but that's bullshit. I like Russell Watson but he just isn't a great classical singer.

  • I had this played as I walked down the aisle at my wedding - amazing!

  • My god Russell, being Italian, you have done something that is absolutely incredible. I feel every word. Your intense love for the music is very obvious, you can feel it. You love it. You are so happy.

  • i love him

  • This is one of the most beautiful song I have ever heard. Perhaps the most versatile voice I have heard for a long time, may we hear many more from Russell in the future.

  • He's amazing!!!! Gives me goose bumps and makes me cry. By the way.... to hotqueekboi, he's not overrated over sympathy! He sang just as well before the tumors. He IS the voice!

  • Oh Russell!!!! If you can sing like this Mr H your on to a winner!

  • Hermosa voz y carisma personal, Dios te bendiga y proteja siempre mucho, que puedas recuperarte pronto para la felicidad de tus seres queridos y de tu público. GOD BLESS YOU.

    GRACIAS por el video.

  • He is verry good and mutch better then Paul Potts but i still think that Jan Werner hes the best version of this song, he is my fav. singer!

  • he is a beautiful singer, how dare you

  • Operatic singers often pronounce vowels with the "ah" sound, as it allows for a better quality of sound. People come to hear the singing, not the pronunciation of the words.

I the "nasally sound" to which you refer is a combination of simply being the way his voice sounds, and the sound equipment.

I saw this performance as being of wonderful quality. Certainly better than the Celtic Woman version.

  • I know what you mean by the "ah" sound used in some cases for high singing by operatic voices. But in RW's case, it is more a case of me personally not liking how he sings 'a's in this song.

I also don't like the Celtic Women's version of this song either.

And I say this is a flawed performance because he can do better: I love his rendition of "Il Gladiatore"

  • Yes, his vowel placement in this piece could use some work in some places (I think twice there could've been better choices made: "ee" vs. "eh" sound), but his intonation is flawless. He has quite a versatile voice...

  • que timbre más feo

  • id kill to have a voice like that

  • get well russel, we all are praying for you and your prompt recovery!!! God is with you man!!!

  • what is wrong with him?

  • he has a brain tumour i think. Lets hope for the best for Russ. He has one of the best voice n' if somethin' went wrong then we lose one of the best classical singers of all time.

  • fanx 4 the info, ths reli sad 2 hear

  • Best classical singers (of all time)?!?!?

Hardly. He can sing classical songs rather well, but so could you. My deepest sympathies to him if he has a brain tumor, but I'm not going to overrate him just out of sympathy.

Does he still have the brain tumour? Or have the doctors taken it (hopefully all) out? I do wish him well though.

  • its so moving, esecially as hes been so ill.God bless him he is beautiful singer and person.

  • happy thanksgiving thouartthat

  • Hes one of my favorites!

I love his cd..its so diverse and hes just so talented!

  • omg..this is awesome!

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • this is one of my favorite songs i think your brilliant i love the way you can make opera fun

and not boring like most the others opera singers do. excellent performance

    get well soon

  • i love thsi song so much, so does my mum and she always has it on in the car xxxx lol

  • why is he sick now a days? pls tell me its nothing to worry about?

  • I believe he recently had a tumour removed from his brain.. god it would be shattring if the world lost his amazing voice

  • Thank you for letting me know natq900. I was so fascinated by his voice not knowing what he just went through in life. Thank God he's alright. Just bought his new cd, and i must say listening to it & knowing he was in agonizing pain while recording this album makes it all the more meaningful. My prayers to you RUSSELL...your talent is a gift to the world!!!

  • please God willing he recovers

  • Keep up the good work. Still have much to improve but your on the right way.

  • Fantastic voice, best wishes and get well soon.

  • handsome man

  • Get well soon Russell.

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Get Well soon Russell...This is Your Song.

  • definately the people's tenor. Get well my friend and sing some more for us.

  • Why can't he just come back to Australia? I want to see him live!! DAMNIT :'(

  • i love the way he slides around the notes so perfectly at the start!!!

  • Great Video. Sung by a Dedicated Professional.

Glade I found YOUTUBE. Great stuff. This is MUSIC. Sincerely J rod

  • Nob.

  • nice sound

  • Thnx x1000. Hey I admit I like Celtic Woman too, but only Lisa n' Hayley r my favourite. Hayley in which im in luv with.(back to topic)~ Hayley n' Russ makes a great duo. Thats y they came together again to sing "All I ask of You."

  • I like this version of this song, I have heard many versions of which I only like Chloe Agnew from the Celtic Woman group

  • Not only is he talented but has humor too!

  • Nobody does it better..Keep that flame glowing!!

  • mannificent voice!!! Russell rocks!

  • Beautiful, I wish all singers who sang Nella Fantasia gathered to sing a group duet.

But still, Sarah owns this song completely :)

  • Amazing voice. My friends told me that you have to be gay to listen to this kind of music. But I don't care. I love this guy. After long day at work, I listen to his music, and his voice just help you relax and calm your soul so to speak. I just can't get by a a hectic day without listening to this kind of music. Way to go Russ!!!

  • LQQKnSEE is rite-o on the dot. My friends think Im gay just listenin' to music like this. Hey Russ is one hell of a singer. Hey but in the end this is one thing in life. Russ is one of the best classical singers in the world.:)

  • fridgeminster514: If I was you, I wouldn't care what my friends thought, they don't have to listen to it with you....

  • Russell is brilliant, outstanding, what a beautiful tenor voice, he is my favorite singer by leaps and bounds.

  • Bravo!!!

  • Have you heard David Hobson's version, also available on YouTube?

  • yes. He sings very very fast

  • When you are the soloist you can sing it how ever you want

  • I think it's somehow related with his non-professional background.

In all, the breathing problem can not be solved just by singing for years without the right leading of a great teacher...

he does has a great voice, nice feeling to the melody line, but if not enough air, what could he do? of course singing faster...

there's absolutely nothing to do with the "how you want to" stuff...

  • peoples check out il divo's english version. make me weak!

  • If you liked that version, check out myspace/franknaughton - Frank Naughton's myspace. He is a tenor from Ireland.

  • what a voice!

  • its just fascinating, it could only get better and better, i can see his passion. Not every singer can sind it out with true passion..cool.

  • Ah yes, but have you listened to Sarah Brightman's version. Let me know what you think...I love her too...

  • I have heard so many versions of Nella Fantasia and I find Sarah Brightman's version the most beautiful

  • Please see Jan Werner Danielsens' version very good

  • Much better than Celtic Woman's version of the song. Russell pronunciation needs a tad of work, but overall, simply brilliant.

  • I agree. Much better than Celtic Woman.

But, Sarah Brightman still owns this song. :0 Her rend
