@freeeeeeedy Yeaaah, I was looking for good examples of brass tone, so I wasn't really paying attention to them, but now that you mention it...
Are you sure they're union execs? 'Cause that would imply they met each other before they walked on stage..., at times they don't sound like it. Definitely got some chops, and do some nice things, but it would be better it they did them at the same tempo.... Nice (make that NICE) flugel, though
i had the pleasure of playing in a band with this man last night. he was up in wigan for the jazz festival and i played along side him. we played this tune, but miles faster and when it got to the sax soli, we were bricking it. good player he is
Bobby Shew is one of the greatest of our time. As trumpet player, musician and last but not least - a man of beautiful personality full of friendliness.
I remember seeing Bobby in the 70's with Dave Eshelmen's San Jose City College band. He was phenomenal. One of the wierd things I remember is he had the flattest stomach of anyone I've ever seen.
history behind this tune...he wrote it for Don Menza when he was in his band because Don had a flame on his ass the entire rehersal. heard this from bobby's mouth too no bull shit.
Looks a bit like Jumbo.

I play a 1969 Couesnon and what Bobby is playing sounds very much like the Couesnon I play.

On behalf of the British public, Bobby, i apologise for the rhythm section.
As M.U. execs they'll get a nice pension. Bless 'em.

thats a couesnon. Looks like a 1970's model.

Is Bobby playing a Couesnon here? Early 80s makes me assume he was not on the Yamaha yet. He sure sounds incredible on it.

i thought he was on a Conn vintage 1 pro

Gotta be hard playing over that rhythm section. Dancing on jelly.

One of the prettiest, most effortless flugel horn sounds that exist. I sure love Bobby's playing!

Johnny Depp on drums? :D /Seriously, a good drummer who really swings has got to have the ability to play soft.
