@joeyrider I'm thankful that it resonated with you too. My resolution it to spend every waking moment of life filled with worthwhile pursuits, there's too much nonsense taking up precious time. Ultimately all we have are each other, the arts and philosophy! Be peaceful!
@Kobe29261 wow, what an interesting comment. i never thought of death that way, but you are absolutely right. there is so much music i will never hear before i leave this planet, so many books i will never read, so many ppl i will never meet (maybe a soulmate???), so many places i will never see.....and so on.....
@SomethingReal1119 Its a sentiment I caught from somewhere and its truly staggering what we'll miss because we inhabit time and happened to be born in this era. I'm glad it resonated with you. You took it to another level with the soulmate idea, I mean the thought of my perfect half having lived or yet to be born is almost unbearable. Oh life, drink deep or taste not!
Thanks for putting this video up. I'm reading a book called' The Girl In The Song' The reals stories behind 50 classic pop songs & I'm now looking up all the songs featured in the book. I didn't even know who Dory Previn was so again thanks :)
hi thanks for the post. I still have this in vinyl inmy attic. gotta dig it up and make an mp3 of this album. Heartripping song. And sheez. I'm such a bad person, by laughing about the boomering hitting "poor" Mia, when her adopted daughter took old pathetic Woody from her. The universal laws are so interesting.
Wow. I've known of this song for years but this is the first time I've actually heard it.
I've never cared for Mia Farrow-not so much because of how she betrayed Dory Previn-though lord knows that's bad enough- there's always just been something about little Mia that strikes me as phony, regardless of how many many needy orphans she adopts. As for Woody and his former step-daughter/ now-wife, I hope Dory quietly smiled to herself upon hearing the news....
A bit prophetic considering what happened later with Farrow's adopted daughter and Woody Allen. Although, to be fair, that song would be called "Beware of lecherous old bastards."
@hearditman I dunno how prophetic it is since Dory was writing about her husband Andre not Woody.. However Farrow young and naive didn't deserve what Allen did later on... Kinda sick.
@L4Hunter What I mean is she could have been talking generally about relationships and how once a woman is a little older the eyes stray. It happened to Dory and she may have been saying it could happen to Mia. And it did.
Re the motivation for this song: Yes no argument but listen again to her "Lemon Haired Ladies". The break-up of her marriage was obviously more difficult for Dory to come to grips with with just one song. ;o) BTW I've been a huge fan of her's since the early 70's.
In 1970, Mia Farrow married the musician André Previn. His former wife, songwriter Dory Previn, blamed Farrow for the end of her relationship with Previn and wrote a scathing song, entitled "Beware of Young Girls"
Why did I get a -1 comment? I'd like to know who did this, as I'm 58, knew Dory since the late 60's. I'm quite sure the person who did this is very, very young.
actually, a 3-record album telling about how the moon world feel on the loss of rocks after the nasa moonwalk . . .

@shanna1950 Never knew that. So, holier than thou Mia Farrow has a skeleton of her own, as well. I'll be goddamned.
