Jesus is actually satan playing the most complex trick ever! Think about this one.Jesus points to the heavens where ther father lives and rules and he points to the earth where he will rule for a millinea,The demon goat God does the same as above so below gesture! the cross is actually an an ancient pagan sun symbol as old as 6700 years old. the star of david is also a sun symbol. the catholic chi-ro is also a sun symbol. jesus died on the sun sym. and he is also the son of God.DECEPTION!
My favorite movie at the beginning of each year,, every New Years Day i put this movie in my DVD. This is an Awesome movie, very moving and extremely a loving man who loves all and died on the cross for our sins, He obeyed, He showed mercy and He most assuredly spoke the Word that was given by the Father of Heaven, the music was emotional, and Jeffrey Hunter did justice as Jesus in this movie as the centurion,,,,,Lucas
Unfortunately, the two worst wigs in this movie were allotted to Jeff Hunter and Rip Torn (Jesus and Judas!). Millions of bucks, thousands of extras to make the movie..then put stiff fake cheap wigs on your stars, and shoot 'em in close ups for a giant wide screen movie! What were Bronston and Nicholas Ray thinking?
There's a great documentary (from UK's Southbank Show) where Martin Scorsese is going through all the Jesus films and talks about this scene. If I can convert it, I'll put it on YouTube.
This is a magnificent, wonderful, powerful, deeply moving portrayal of Jesus by an outstanding actor at his best and a director, Nicholas Ray, at his best. But Jeffrey hunter had dark hair. Why did they lighten it for this movie when Jesus was undoubtedly Semitic with dark hair?
who cares why they did what they did, it was (and still is) a wonderful movie. As a young girl this movie made me understand a lot of what the Bible taught, never thought about what people were supposed to look like back then..... maybe that would still be a good lesson now for all of us.
@9bahai9 Oddly enough, Mel Gibson took the opposite tack. Jim Caviezel wore contact lenses to turn his blue eyes brown to more closely approximate what Jesus must have looked like, as well as an appliance to make his already-somewhat-aquiline nose a bit larger. Fortunately for Gibson, Caviezel's hair and beard, grown out, were already black and needed no extra help.
This is posted for atheists, agnostics, anyone despondent in spirit, or who may be an honest unbeliever. From christs own words..he comforts ALL who struggle with faith & love. One man says to him "i see before me a man of flesh yet you call yourself son of God". Christs reply offers an "introduction" or "back door" to a journey of love (God). He says "if im not doing the work of my father dont believe in me..if i am doing his work & you still cant believe in "me"...believe in..."the work" i do. †

@9bahai9 maybe the light hair and piercing blue eyes is the director's effort to make him appear radiaint or not so ordinary.

@9bahai9 Because they wanted to westernize Him, make Him more Hollywood-like :/

Much as I hate and loathe Christ insanity this man was the most perfect Jesus actor ever at least until Gibson's snuff film flick.
