No more Rover. Now you can have a Chevrolet or a Chrysler or an Infiniti. Performance Rovers aren't a laughing stock. When I drive my British Racing Green 820 Vitesse, everyone looks at it. And they definitely don't seem to be laughing.
Rover did the same thing for about 10/15 years before they finally went bump - making cars that were nice to be in, good to drive and generally not bad - while they worked. That was never long enough to make them worth the pretty high prices they asked for them.
Ooh swearing, you are a big boy aren't you? I really wish people on here could be mindful of others and curb the cursing a little, so pointless. Please feel free to fire back with an arbitrary selection of vitriol at your discretion. Either that or accuse me of me of being a keyboard warrior et etc.
Personally I'd have a BRM as they were and still are cracking little cars. Plenty of them sold in the UK so I guess a lot of people considered them to be worthwhile purchases.
Fantastic looking car, Fantastic interior as well. I love this car. As far as I'm aware it's a 1.8 engine and 145 BHP as standard. I took one for a test drive and it felt a bit sluggish compared to my old Rover 220 GTi. I still love this car but it didn't feel powerful enough. Also I found a lot of rust by the boot hinges even though the rest of the car seemed clean. My heart said yes my head said no
In the end I had to get rid of the 220 Gti and I got a Honda Civic 1.8 VTi. It's similar to the Rovers I experienced in a lot of ways except the build quality is better and it's been more reliable. Not bad in the BHP area either although the torque could be better. Once it reaches a certain RPM though it takes right off and would leave the Rovers standing.

All they were lacking was quality and value.

The BRM has a different ratio gearbox, its closer together, dropping its top speed, it also has a diff.
tn21beer 3 years ago
