Transposing the key is a time-honored way of getting a song into your vocal range. A lot of pro artists do it all the time, especially as they get older: Springstenn, Petty, etc etc.

the only problem with him singing brick or fred jones part 2, is that it isnt supposed to be happy... brick is talking about an abortion and FJP2 is talking about some old guy getting thrown to the curb like hes garbage, dont want those to be happy... (just my opinion)

two things I noticed in just 10 seconds into watching this (because I play piano and I love to play Ben's tunes, though I can't sing along to it): one, you're hitting F chord, but sound is "transposed" down to Db - maybe to your vocal range perhaps? and I can't tell from the reflection of the mirror, but I'm not certain if the keyboard is on or off. if I'm wrong on the second part, i'm sorry to bother you.
