Chitra is about a 100 country miles better than Hariharan in this performance (and in general too, for that matter). Hariharan is very talented and reputed, I will not question that, but his harkats lack a sense of discipline or feel for the song and come off as pyrotechnical exhibitionism. Every improvised spot by Chitra on the other hand was meaningful and left a more long lasting impression..she's one of a kind.

I strongly disagree with your openion as Hariharan's is much more talented than Chitra, which she also had agreed in an interview. Moreover, in this performance as well as in any other performance, Chitra always sings with artificial voice which Hariharan never does.

@ammavinod I actually did not comment on either's talent and if by talent, you simply mean technical skill, it would be very difficult to judge who has more skill just by listening to them. Probably nobody other than the singers themselves would know for sure. On the other hand, Chitra's interpretation of this song is much better....in my opinion. As I said, her improv spots are well chosen while Hariharan goes over the top.

@ammavinod As for artificial voice, could you please clarify what you meant? If you mean her voice sounds artificial to you, that is a matter of taste and you're entitled to your opinion. If you mean she tries to change her voice, that is not true. In this performance as well as any other, she sings in her natural voice which itself is very high pitched and light. It is not falsetto at all if that's what you mean, it's open throated and full.
