  • I feel sorry for the masses who've never listened to Grandaddy. Great band.

  • This is a freakin' amazing song...Am I correct to assume a literal interpretation? That the signer recently broke up a girl that he had planned on marrying?

  • one of the most criminally overlooked bands ever. that simple.

  • rip grandaddy

  • i like the way he sings. he's not screaming his lungs out like a retard. it's quiet and passionate at the same time, ya know?

  • top 10 on my list.

  • BRING BACK GRANDADDY!!!!!

  • Someone please explain the meaning of the lyrics. So it's about this girl whom has never got the chance to develop an intimate relationship? And what's with the stolen gun? Is it supposed to be symbolic or literal? He helped the father to get back the "stolen gun", then he should marry his daughter? And what about "treating water"? Water purification? I am confused...

  • @Yellowknight888 , okay Jason Little was working at a water treatment plant for a time and that is the treating water part (true story). The rest ties into the narrative of the whole album- being a bit of a dystopian idea of a world where computers ahve taken over from human interactions or some shit. It's a bit murky. Incidently, it's a bit freaky that Radiohead had a similar idea and released a similar themed album within weeks of the Sophtware Slump in OK Computer. Or not.

  • @77roadhog OK Computer was released in 1997, Sophtware Slump was released in 2000.

  • @Yellowknight888 As far as treating water, I think I read somewhere that the singer worked at a water treatment plant for a while.

  • Jim Fairchild is a DOUCHEBAG

  • The song kicks so much ass, but omg!!!! I don't get the meaning of the video wtf?! Driving me crazy! What's with the man in white with a keyboard lol? why is there lettuce on the drums? I can't relate the song to the video lol it's all random.

  • nice garage

  • priceless man

  • Jason is a genius....

  • So beautiful! "Chrystal Lake" is my favorite, but "Hewlett's Daughter" is my second favorite! : )

  • esta es musica para escuchar bien fumado

  • is he singing through a akgd112?

  • It's a music video that is lip-synched; I'm sure you know this already. It could be a stalk of celery that he's singing into and it wouldn't make much of a difference.

  • it wouldnt make any difference!:D I was just wondering if they used that technique when recording, because its a bass drum mic, and it wouldnt have much high response.

  • It's just a .....video. There's lettuce on the drummer's drum set for God's sake.

  • was it iceberg or baby lettuce? this could have affected the sound of the snare.

  • The clip isn't greatest in the world. If you put a gun to my head I'd have to say it's Iceberg........

  • Iceberg is to lettuce what Creed is to music.

  • this album was so good. they never got the props they deserved.

  • they sound remenber me the promise ring :)

  • umm. nice. summer is gone.. . reminds me of this every time. i enjoy both immensly. seperately too!

  • love love love this band this music

  • One of my favorite bands of ALL TIME!!!! Long Live Grandaddy!!!

  • Love them. Deeply.

  • man oh man

  • it appears that he's singing thru a kick drum mic? that might be a good recording trick

  • @CoverMyMouth lol yeah. its a d-112. :) i love these guys for their crazyness.

  • @CoverMyMouth

it is! when i mention it to people they give me a strange look, also works a treat on cello and double bass

  • ahhhhh

  • They don´t try to be cool and all that....They just are. I hope they come to sweden sometimes.....

    Awesome band!

  • whatever dudes, we'll shell out 100 bucks some day to see the geezers when they reunite for a victory tour.

  • Whyyyyyyy.

But now what songs they made will seem all the more precious.

Never another chance to see them live.

  • i really like how "treading water" has changed to "treating water".

  • Cuz that's his job, haha. Is it once again his job? Man. What a world we live in.

  • the first time i heard this song i immediately went out and bought the record.

  • i lOOOOVVVEE this song. it's been years, and it's still on regular ipod rotation.

  • such a simple and brilliant song. This band will be sorely missed. Sorely.

  • Awesome awesome song
