  • I find this easy to masturbate to.

  • Flew on one of these in 2001 and in all honesty it was the worst flight of my life lol the seats were covered horrible, old, torn up leather. The air con was broke so it was impossible to get comfy and we had severe turbulence on landing

  • I always liked the look of this plane but I hear they were not very economical

  • @THEMAMABOY101 shut up

  • euro atlantis portuguese

  • i hate this, too old man.......

  • WOW fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I flew on one to Toronto and back with Air Transat in 1997. It was my first time in an aeroplane and I knew nothing about them, but I remember the smooth ride and the wonderful roar of the RB211s on take-off and reverse thrust on landing.

  • @neilkt may i ask where were you flying to? Cause I went for the first time on an aircraft from toronto to cuba around that same year, and vividly going on the tristar. For many years thought it was the DC-10 but the intake on engine 2 was different

  • I loved flying on the Tristar, Best plane ever

  • Ah the joys of cheap plentiful oil.

  • whats the purpose of the tail engine...?

  • @Avion3333 well, it doesnt need 4, so they used the three and put it in the tail to make it equally balanced

  • @Avion3333 the tail engine sucks in more air because of the ducts the flows down to the engine in the back. its actually the strongest vengine on the plane. just like the Boeing 727, same engine its just the duct that makes it more stronger flowing in the air. if both side engines failed the tail one is as strong as both.

  • @hondacl0n3 Thanks, but not following that!

  • @amemy1 if its one thing that irritates me fighting with a white kid, why dont you just visit the Science Museum of Industry in Chicago, IL. they have a Boeing 727-200 where you go inside it and a glass through window around the original engines looking at the fans with all these videos and descriptions of how the tail engine is as strong as both are, its my saying so..

  • @hondacl0n3 COOL DOWN. I will look into the physics of the tail engine. Maybe the airflow through the ducts improves trust on that particular engine x2, but i am not convinced. The third engine is buried in the tail, and so has a longer inlet duct, and that can only cause to airflow to be impeded as it has further to travel. What comes out of the tail pipe exhaust is simply newtons laws of; mass acceleration, plus action/reaction.

The same as the other two side engines. Thanks for reply.

  • @Avion3333 A third more power!

  • @amemy1 Yep, a third more power. lovely jets.

  • @mcwolfus Actually, since you're starting with 2 engines, you're adding half of that, which is 1 engine. Not just a third more, a half more power. If you went from 3 to 2 then you'd be losing a third. And they are most certainly very lovely planes.

  • @ecw11563 Yep, your right.

  • @Avion3333 It better than two.

  • @mcwolfus not economical and it throws off the balance during landing. Maybe Tristar is different but the DC10 and MD11 tri jets had a lot of crashes due to the design of the plane.

  • @efadaei.... never thought of the balance problem, it does make the bird top heavy.

  • a beautiful landing, almost like a natural childbirth. In pointing out a comparison to the DC-10, Lockheed may have had a better format with the s-duct on the #2 or center engine as it didn't interfere with the rudder. On the DC-10 the bottom of the rudder had to be split in order to accomodate the blast nozzle of the center engine.

  • Ive travelled back from Nepal on on of these, I had the pleasure of having a seat right under the rear engine... It lulled me to sleep. What a fantastic aircraft. 1991 I think.

  • I traveled from New York JFK to Amsterdam back in 1988 on a Royal Jordanian airliner. I wish that I would have payed closer attention to that...of course I was only 17. For some reason I keep coming up with a L-1011. I think I saw the plane maybe at some point before we boarded. I wonder if that was the possible aircraft? Any commnets would be appreciated.

  • Last time i flew the Tristar was across the atlantic from Trinidad to London Heathrow , back in the 90s

  • exotic looking plane

  • Noisy as hell though. RR all the way

  • One of the best airlines to ever fly this sexy girl was BWIA which was also one of the smallest. Flew on it to London and back from Trinidad. It was a dream and a pleasure.

  • @dougiecoolietrini That is so true those babies were sweet and lucky to have an owner like BWIA. BWIA was the best airline and still is.

  • @johnsonza LOL. Thanx man! To me, I believe it is as well. It's unfortunate that we no longer hold the name British West Indian Airways anymore but It lives through Caribbean Airlines and 1 day, I hope we recruit some beautiful heavies to expand our fleets.

  • Why 3 engines? Is it faster?

  • Which´s the BEST Life Killing plane ever?: The Boeing 737= 5900 Casualties.

Which´s the FASTEST Life Killing plane ever?: The Boeing 737= 2,5 casualties per month.

There you have Boeing beating the competition...The Best and the Fastest all at ONCE.

To save ur life...just avoid the KILLER 737.

  • @fachy1981 Dumbest statement I've read here. Number of casualties is also based on number of the type aircraft operating all over the world. Everyone with any airplane knowledge knows that the Boeing 737 is THE MOST successful passanger plane ever built. Therefore it is also the most common plane found all over the world. There are a MUCH higher number of 737's operating all over the world than say the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 combined! They've also been flying for several decades.

  • @anacrobat89 people often make that mistake. The biggest crasher, is usually the the most widely flown. Ther crash remains a percentage of the fleet dispite frequency of incidents.

  • The most amazing looking plane in my eyes... Unfortunately I never got to fly on one and now most of them are nearing scrap with primitive overseas airlines. I like the DC-10 too but that looks like the 3rd engine was just bolted on. Looks better on the tristar as it is actually part of the plane. Sometimes technology means the legends get left in the mist. Same story with cars too.

  • I loved the tristar, I flew on it once with TWA.

  • Hey, what year was this? I'm sure we had to take one of these on the way back from Southern Europe once on behalf on Monarch in the late 90s. Except ours was an Icelandic Airways Tri star I think.

  • I imagine it was Air Atlanta Icelandic. They held a lot of contracts in the late 90's for charter carriers using tristars before they switched to 747/767. Air Ops, TBG and Air Scandic also took on a lot of charter work during this time with L1011.

  • Wohoo RAF uses Tri-dent but its gonna be replaced by the A330 Pity!

  • i am fascinated by planes, esp. the three-engined trijets. Damn, the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar, looks beautiful, fascinating and sexy. I love this plane so much that if it was to be a woman, no doubt we will make love in bed tonight!

  • Imo, the L-1011 is safer than the DC-10 and they featured some of the best technology at that time but unfortunately Rolls Royce screwed them over

  • I would know what stupid people over there is comparing the Tristar to a 737 and saying it's a piece of junk.

I respect all airplanes, but personally the Tristar were first the 2nd widebody ever made and second in all the incidents that this aircraft had, they all were made by human mistakes (not like the DC-10 that had a cargo-door failure after few months).

The A380, yes is new, but I thinks it's too big and fuel-thirsty.

In what route there's so much requirement for a 500 seat aircraft?

  • @MrUhrig I think this is a very beautiful airliner and I am surprised that this plane is still in use wich is very good for a plane with this age

  • @Arcticewl nice story, "I have flew the A380." None of your uploads have a video of A380. All u have is 737, 777, and 747! Do not even compre these aircrafts with A380. No comparison.

  • @fachy1981 Well just because none of his videos show an A380, doesn't mean he didn't fly it or in it. What if he did and just didn't video tape it?

  • @fachy1981 Airbus has nothing on boeing.. i've flown both give me boeing anyday

  • @cliffthelightning Boeing is now 10 years behind Airbus. Airlines that use the 747-400 will be looking to upgrade in the near future and it seems that A380 is the more popular choice. Airlines don't just want another 747 derivative. They want a completely new airliner.

  • @fachy1981 You're right, they'll will purchase the 787 :p I don't really see the point in the A380, only a handful of airlines will actually be able to use it. The 747 was built in a time when it's size and capacity were essential to the evolution of commercial flight, not so with the A380. It would seem that in truth, Airbus is 40 years behind Boeing ;)

  • @phillyslasher 747-8 is a cheap and boring replacement for the classic 747-400 series in my mind's eye. Boeing did not want to invest in an all new 747 replacement as it was seen too risky a business venture. I applaud Airbus once again for taking the risk and pushing the envelope in terms of innovation and design. I think Airbus have pushed aviation 20 years into the future whereas Boeing is still tinkering with a 1960's old rusted antique 747 design.

  • The L-1011 will forever live on, it's the aeroplanes of this era that got us where we are today let's not forget that, this is a very robust beast.......

  • @fachy1981

Yeah I would like to sit in it... that's not a problem isn't it?

I flew the A380 so now I would love to board this amazing aircraft! Probably more fun then the Airbus...

  • whats the registration? i worked for BWIA for years we owned 3 and leased 1

    reg: N3140D

  • are you retarded? STILL the smoothest flying and landing aircraft today!!! and that's 60's technology. Way too advanced for its time.

  • Great vid! Nice job, and it is a uniquely strange plane! 5/5

  • excellent video...............

  • Do the L-1011's have any sort of thrust reverser on the #2 engine? I know the DC-10/MD-11 does, but I don't see how they would do it on the L-1011

  • A bit of the #2 engine is exposed at the back of the aircraft. Maybe that is how it does it. I am pretty sure it does. Love the L-1011.

  • I cannot believe how many R-T--DS have commented on this video and comparing a TriStar to a b737. You people need to go back down in your holes and pull the dirt back over your heads. Ounce that happens, I will be prayin' for rain.

  • hahaha.. theyre completely different in all aspects

  • Yes but this model pictured is a -500. It is the short body, long range model of the aircraft.

  • The aircraft isnt this short, it is due to editing of the original video to fit into the youtube veiwing window.....it has been squashed. It doesnt hold the same amount of ppl as a 737800. The L1011 holds in the order of 250-350 ppl, depending on version. There were quite a few versions of this excellent aircraft. Few are in use today due to more economical aicraft being available. Operators are replacing these aircraft with 777 and A330.

  • How do you mean? B737 is best a/c ever built!

  • Oh My god !

Tristar ist one thousand times better !!!

    Your sentence is ugly.

  • i thought l-1011's were longer?

  • i love trijets. :D

  • Flown on L-1011's many times. I love that jet. Man its awesome. I wish the airlines in the U.S. still flew the tri-jets. It would make one badass corporate jet.

  • @lakewood85 do you know why they dont?

  • @chadsexinton It is most likely the cost to operate an older plane that is probably very difficult to find spare parts for. It takes 3 to fly the plane unless it has had a complete cockpit upgrade with flight management system. It is less efficient to operate than a 767ER, 777ER. etc., etc., etc.,

  • @lakewood85 only 5 still in use (excluding the 9 that the RAF still use) :(

  • 34.

  • looks remarkably short!

  • are those blacklisted in europe?

  • hi. no, they're not.

actually euroatlantic airways is a european airline, from portugal.

  • ive been on that plane. very nice inside

  • I think the way that the rear engine and the tail are formed looks kinda wierd. I prefer the "seperate" engine look like on the DC10/MD11

  • YES. EuroAtlantic Airways is one of the few carriers that operates the L1011 today. :)

  • are they still in service today?...

  • are there still around?

  • he was operating for monarch becasue monarch was helping the stranded XL people.get from and to there destinations.

glad to see the Airlines of UK helping each other :) lol

    good vid

  • Wow, that's one long-ass title.

  • One of the best aircrafts ever built period!

  • How is it ugly?

  • beautiful old girl she is. The VC-10 and naturally the concorde are part of the rare group of commerical planes that actually look elegant.

  • Personally I prefer the looks of the DC-10 over the L-1011

  • it only looks stumpy because the aspect ratio is wrong. its 4:3 on a 16:9 window so it appears "squished"

  • I think this too! It makes even the 747SP look sleek!

  • the L-1011 is wonderfull....

  • its too short and stumpy would be better if it was a bit longer

even know i like the DC-10 BETTER:)

  • The L-1011-100 was about as long as the DC-10. The long range -500 was shorter.

  • what a beast.

    I prefer the MD-11

  • i'd rather ride an l-1011 with the better safety record

  • i remember this aircraft in dublin airport years ago, same livery but a different name..

  • Let the old girl show you how it's done. Most beautiful commercial airliner ever built.

  • L-1011-500?

  • Wow Nice. Old School! XD

  • Monarch? :S

  • what?????? How can that be Monarch?

  • Read description, idiot.

  • it is recently that Monarch have leased this aircraft in replace of there A300 that is in for engine change and service

  • The TriStar has one of the best safety records than any other aircraft build today
