  • can you sent to me the tabs of your fantastic song "These Moments"?please I want to me girlfriend

  • wow i expected it to be more lol and i read all the comments saying it's too much.

but then again i'm from new jersey and typical teachers around here are like 60-70 ish

  • this might be to much to ask but can you spare one more lesson please? thank you if you reply

  • 75$ is a pretty good price ... over here your average music school is 60 euros a month for 30 minutes per week...and you have to sign a pretty annoying contract.

  • I wonder if this is still valid ?

  • Hey Antoine

Is there any chance you could do a tutorial on flicked harmonics?

Simular to the ones you do in the slap into of spiritual groove.

    Thanks

    Jay.

  • @mreith08 I think you don't even play guitar... Local instructors who teach are like 50 bucks per hour... And Mr. Antoine is no ordinary person. Unless you have only one part of your brain or you don't have common sense, stop talking shit here.

  • $75 is actually a pretty fair price for such a good teacher. Just a shame I can't afford it at the moment. Hopefully soon though!

  • : $75 ???hahaaha

  • ANTOINE YOU ARE MY PERSONAL GUITAR GOD. I'm from India and your music doesn't come here. so the only source i have is the internet. i just want to say that the music you make is a gift from God everytime i listen to a song. Your compositions are truly divine. your music opens a gateway in my mind and i am free from my worldly bonds. i never knew i could hear a person's soul. but your music speaks directly to mine. keep it going. thank you for your music. love you Antoine.

  • im sorry, quick question, what is it you have on the bottom of your guitar in your new videos, and is it to position it higher up?

  • @freeqwerqwer Maybe you should listen to him before you make that claim then? I guarantee you he's a better guitar player than you are or will ever be. Actually, he's probably a better guitar player than most people will ever be. I'm sure his lessons are definitely worth $75, or even more.

Sure, you can go down to your local music store and learn from some guy who no ones ever heard of for 30 bucks, and he may be great, or you can learn from a master who IS great, and the pay the price.

  • You are my GOD!!

  • If you plan on cramming tens of hours at a time, then yes 75 seems like a lot of cash. But if you think of it in terms of one or two hours per month, and practice those licks and tricks for that month, and prepare yourself for the next month, this way, in a slow and integrated process, you can merge into the new skill-set seamlessly and with little force and frustration as possible. Just my two cents, 75 bucks an hour is a hell of a deal, considering it's Antoine Dufour, a living legend!

  • I would right now sign to your lessons Antoine, but I can't because of the paypal payment method.. I just don't give my credit information over the internet.. Anyway it would be really nice if you're going to Finland someday. Let me know if you're coming to do a gig over here. :)

  • 75 dollars.....

  • $75 is chump change for a guitar lesson with someone this talented. Get a job?

  • I don't normally post comments, but this deserved one!

I started lessons with Antoine less than a year ago through Skype. I learned more in my first lesson than I did in years of learning on my own.

A sincere thanks Antoine, for everything you've taught me so far. Your worth FAR more than you charge!

    Cheers!

  • How advanced were you at guitar at the time you began lessons? He says it's for intermediate to advanced players, so I wonder if I'm excluded from that. I can play some of his music through tabs I bought, but I'm really not that good a musician.

  • Antoine could you possibly tell us the exact make of that guitar?

You didnt have it in your FAQ video :(

  • possible to rent halb an hour? sounds interesting :>

  • chivas:He/Groups post his music here free to listen to.

You choose to support him. Did he spend even 10 seconds telling you to go buy a cd? Or even take a lesson?

No he thanked those who did. If he can spend some time giving lessons to people who are willing to pay for it than by all means. Any shop is going to charge you. If he did it for free he'd have everyone who plays guitar on his skype list, and you'd still be complaining cause you're at the bottom of the list. It's not like he sold out.

  • Whats wrong with tuition?

  • you idiot if eh could he would he's straving his music is barely known and everybody has to make a living you hippie

  • 75 dollars isnt that much.. its like 50 euro a hour. my old guitar teacher asked 12 euro for 23 minutes! so enyone who says itscrap screw you xD!

  • My lessons cost 50 euros/hour. To pay Antoine that much is probably worth it if you want to be able to play like him.

  • i wanna go meet you when i go to quebec. your are my hero!

  • your the man, but why so stressed out?

  • $75/hour is a very reasonable and cheap price considering who you're getting the lesson from. In addition to playing guitar, I teach martial arts full time, and to get a private lesson from a professional in martial arts, you're looking at double this price per hour. This is sweet and should be taken advantage of. I know I will soon.

  • almost 80 bucks is too much i think, but instead - good idea - 'skype lessons' :D keep rockin!

  • Very cool. I tought myself how to play guitar and unfortunately, practiced picking with just two fingers! After watching your videos, I realize just how much more life I can bring to my compositions by incorporating the rest. Thank you for all the advice and instructional videos.

  • Hi Antoine

I would love to have a lesson of yours.

But I really cant afford the 75 :(

  • doesnt matter where, there are always small children who ruin it for everyone else.....pity evolution stopped with society or these cowardly half whits would have been taken out by real men.

  • hey octavice . grow up .

we're all people lets get along eh.

  • he's french from quebec

  • lol "guitar" is one of the requirements. yo antoine if business is movin slow and the price goes down lemme no cuz i can't afford that 75 buddy

  • german??????? lol

hes more french then german listen to howhe says his "H"s..he doesnt

    its a french thing

  • he is french canadien but yer, they r very cheap

  • what do you mean by cheap!? Why I outta!!

  • wth is why i outta?! an erm some idiot put the wrong price so yerr it's not cheap

  • Comment removed

  • is antoine german?!!!!!

  • Uh, no it wouldnt, he is great but not the best!

  • lol i wish i could make 75 dollars an hour

  • Wow 75 bucks is cheap Antoine, since your knowledge is one of a kind of course. I've got to say, I really appreciate your music, you've inspired me to write beautiful songs for my loved ones! Please keep up the great work!

I love all your albums, all your songs, all your thoughts!

    Like we say in Brasil,

    Abraços meu velho!

  • Practicing guitar with antoine? man i would spend all my money, by the way should should come to other countries and make books. Well maybe someday I will see you.

    cheers

  • cool

    ddr

  • edit for my comment it's not 5 pln per hour but 20 pln so it is 10$ i'm sorry ;]

  • mhm very interesting video but in poland i have guitar lessons for professional musician, who plays 17 years and i pay for this 5 PLN for 1 hour lesson so it is 2$ for lesson :) and it is regular price for that

  • I wish you make an instructional video covering up lessons on your guitar playing. Tell us when so that I could order a copy.

  • If i'm not mistaken, i think i heard antoine mention a dvd in the making.

  • Hi Antoine im from México city and i just whant to say !!!You are amazing!!! grate job i don´t speek good inglish but the music is universal and that it´s grate keep doing songs you and Andy Mckee are my influence and bouth are amazing im 17 years old and i whant to be grate playing the guitar like you and Andy and Kaki King congratulations see you and !!!GOOD LUCK!!!

  • i'm dumb...nevermind

  • hey man, are you full? you must be by now! let me know how much it is, im really interested!

  • and the chat is free?

    hope it does..... :P

  • this guy is awesome!

  • I guess you've got a lot of requests already. :)

  • $75 is a very fair price. Most celibrity guitarists charge loads more. And also Antonie is someone who has perfected his technique and commited to teaching..his free lessons online just shows it

  • Cool. even though $75 is rather steep.

  • Well, to have lessons from arguably the best fingerstyle guitar player, I think it's alright.

  • very good point

  • I'd rather just fly to Quebec and get a one on one lesson.

  • He's french canadian

  • Quebecois

  • Please, can you clear up what is intermediate?? I am not sure totally

  • A lot of people in New-York charge 250$ an hour for a lesson. That the fee for professional ; they got many others things to do so there time worth more^^.

  • $75 is pretty damn good IMO, because I am from scotland it would cost £30ish. Now considering the fact that you will be getting a lesson from one of the most inspiring and talented artists around, it is not a hefty price. You would also be able to say you were taught by him rather than a random joe blogg. Seems like a bargain to me, all i need to do now is get myself to 'intermediate' level.

  • Think so, too. For a famous professional like him, you'd normally pay loads more than 75$ (or 45€). I'd love to take lessons from him... But just like you, I'm still far away from 'intermediate' ;)) Greetings from Sauerkraut Country!

  • Maybe, but you must know that he's one of the greatest guitarist on earth you fool! Gros criss de con :-) Hé non parce que tu parle juste anglais tu comprend pas l'insulte que j'viens de te lancer Iskaitinis chos bine

  • i would pay 1000$ for one just because he is my idol

  • antoine u are an incredibly technical player and candyrat fucking rulez. u play the sort of music i love to hear and to try and write. very complex stuff that takes alot of hours and musical talent. catching the light is my favourite because its just amazing to listen to..even though its probally one of your simplest tunes

  • its not that bad, most half an hour piano lessons these days are 30 bucks, and it IS antoine, i think its pretty darn reasonable

  • I agree with logician008

Taking lessons from arguablly the best young acoustic guitar players in the world( He is the best Period in my opinion) would be a dream come true, Sing me up, Im gonna try to take them at least every 2 months along with my regular twice a week lessons

    I CANT WAIT!!!!

  • But in my country Guatemala its a lot of money but wherever

  • hey Antoine. I've known for awhile now that you're coming to play at the Shank hall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with Andy Mckee, Craig D'Andrea, and Peter Ciluzzi this march. I was wondering if you would be giving a masterclass to the guitar students at UWM while you were down here. Thanks,

    Jon

  • Toi et moi. It reminds me of a lovely phrase I came across lately, "Chamber music is an intimated conversation between friends". Your work is just arrestingly beautiful. I'll be studying it and think about those skype lessons.

  • Antoine it's a fantastic idea. İm sure the price is well worth it. Are the lessons one to one? İ dont know how skype works, i will download it.

  • your ashes in the sea song is really good

  • Wow I am a poor college student but this would be like painting lessons from Picaso. Just talking to Antoine for an hour about playing guitar would be worth the money. Desprately trying to scrape the cash together.

  • Antoine, do you still use acrylic nails or did you switch to gel-tipped? What is your reasoning for a certain preference?

Look forward to meeting you again at Shank Hall.

  • Antoine when i buy my Acoustic and get used to it a little you may get a message from me. :)

Im a pretty competant guitarist so shouldnt take very long and i have a really big passion for music. Maybe ill show you my "funny dynamics" version of "Song for Stephen", its cool. :P

  • good lord $75 for one hour? You can get a local guitar teacher for about $20 for 30mins, most teach recommend only 30 mins lesson anyway.

  • Local Guitar Teacher... Antoine Dufour .... No contest really :D I'd Pay if I was any way near good enough lol.

  • you have research there are plenty of good guitar teacher around your area with hands on lesson rather than someone on the video ripping you for off $75, the reason most guitar teacher recommend 30 mins lesson is because your figures get tired and no reason for an hour lesson unless your finger can take it, a teach that love music will tell you this. I am pretty sure this guy can play the guitar well but for online without him actually being there to charge $75 is too much.

  • It is quite steep but Antoine is an awesome guitarist and someone you know can really play well, and hes a good teacher by looking at his vid's, i would pay if i had the money to grab some tips off Antoine. Also its for intermediate to advanced so you should be able to play for longer than an hour.... if you cant then well, ummmm, your technique is wrong im afraid. :P

  • I would recommend the same thing for beginners, but my lessons are for people who want to learn specific techniques that a regular teacher do not know about. For those who want to learn...

  • ok that clearify it :)

  • @B0RNfree -would you pay $75 an hour to learn from Clapton? Metheny? Dufour is at the top of the heap with this style of guitar!

  • Comment removed

  • @B0RNfree 75$ an hour isnt that much... Ive done gigs at 150$ an hr, and im doing one at 500$/hr in a couple months....

  • @guitarplayingcat Dude I am sorry...but I could never see anyone paying you 1500 if you played for 3 hours...I watched your video's and there is just absolutely no way in hell...unless the person is mentally handicap and you somehow talked him into giving up his disability checks....dont flatter yourself. I doubt even people such as antoine...or don get paid that amount per hour...at that rate you could easily make 6 figures a year...and most of the artists from CR dont even make that man...

  • @lilmark816 Well, obviously thats beside the point. I play banquets, and I don't play very often, but I have been lucky enough to get some good gigs. I've never played longer than 2 hours. Secondly, You are BEYOND rude. The songs on my youtube account are about 3 years old.. I dont have the equipment to record anymore... So before you start being a royal prick, find out the facts. I told you how it is, and even though I only play a gig every 3 months or so, Thats what I have been getting payed.

  • @lilmark816 Faggot.

  • @B0RNfree this is the furthest thing from a "local guitar techer".

  • @B0RNfree im $40 a month $10 an hour i dont do skype yet but have been considering it

  • @B0RNfree antoine's right and the price isnt that bad, where im from its about the same 60 an hour all over my city. so its actually not that bad (at least where i live) it seams like the pretty standard rate.

  • In alot of songs it looks like your resting the palm of your right hand at the bridge of the guitar while playing (drac and friends for example). Just like Don Ross does at the body of the guitar, am I right?

  • Yes, when I use a thumbpick, I often palm mute for a more efective groove.

  • Yo Antoine, I might check into this when I get some money, and when I get a little bit better at guitar. This is an awesome opportunity.

  • Hi Antoine. I have a question that is unrelated to this post. I caught you'r gig at the Ards Guitar Festival in Northern Ireland and noticed that you and Brian Gore were both using a kind of knee rest to elevate the guitar to a better playing position. I have been unable to find one anywhere. The shops say they will be getting them, but in the meantime I hoped you could tell me what they are called and who makes / sells them? Much appreciated.

  • yes, same here. change northern ireland to catstrand, scotland

  • This is called Neckup. Order it on neckup.com_

    AD

  • Awesome tip! Yes, now im able to feel more Antoinish.. Are u using the ''5 or ''6 inch version.?

  • I don't know actually, the model for acoustic guitar...

  • I would but I'd be too nervous, i've never been able to control my nerves infront of people or on stage, some day.

  • Hi Antoine,

    that´s great! I´m really pleased.

My mother tongue is Turkish and German and the English I learn at school. Do you think we can comunicate nevertheless? The second what I want to ask you, will u come ever on tour to germany?I bought both of your cd, its ingenious, super, thank you!

  • If you understood this video and you can speak a little bit of english and you know a little bit of music terminology, read the description and give it a try!

    Cheers!

  • just picked up your dvd with andy mckee. IT ROCKS!!!!

  • I bought it as well. I totally agree. Its ok that it doesnt have any extra features. The more of a challange the learning will be. Thanks for the music Antoine....you are awesome.

  • Hey Antoine! I suggest you put other search tags on this page, as I normally just type in 'candyrat' , and other keywords. I stumbled across this by accident, so to get more hits on this page add more search tags =) Best of luck!

  • done

  • your a legend

  • I know this is off topic Antoine, but you seem to be replying to these comments alot,so i'll ask you here. When are we going to see you play that gorgeous Ibanez you have hanging up in your videos?

  • I don't know! I don't have any composition on the electric...but if I get enough time, I could make a Steve Vai cover or something!

    CHeers

  • oh man, that would be awesome!!!!

  • do it, or some petrucci

  • cool!

  • Bust it out man!

  • Hi Antoine!

I'm wondering if you could provide us some tips we could learn to play a good fingerstyle books/DVD?

I'm waiting patiently for your DVD soon, but it would be cool if you could provide us some info some where else!

Thomas Leeb pointed me out to buy the "The acoustic guitar bible" written bv Eric Roche.

Do you have anything you could recommend us?

    Cheers!

  • That book is good.

For DVDs if you'd like to learn some Don Ross songs, try his dvds on his website. Tommy Emmanuel Up Close is good. Stephen Bennett has a cd rom on true fire, whitch is cool.

Try to study some classical guitar stuff too.

    Hope it helps!

    AD

  • Thanks for the info!

Is there any specific types I should study about classical guitar stuff?

When approximantely are you going to release your DVD lessons?

    Cheers!

  • Don't know yet for the dvd. I need a lot of time to make it and prepare it.

For classical guitar studies, I would recommend Estudio No1 by Heitor Villa-Lobos to developp a good right hand technique. But the best would be to get a classical guitar teacher for a while.

    Cheers

  • For example, I see that there's a lot of you guys who are making some cool covers of my songs. So if you have hard time to understand a specific spot or technique in the song that could be good to talk about it and I could help you get the techniques behind the songs better and so on.

    AD

  • Woah! To actually get a personal lesson with you would be such a privilage!

Do you know how long you might be doing this for?

  • To by taught by an inspiration to many like yourself, anotoine, would be amazing!, however do skype taught lessons actually work in reality? because i could forsee some potential problems..

  • im sorry i spelt antoine worng : )

  • The purpose of those lessons are to help you to overcome some technical problems, learn exercices to help you, learn new techniques, how I approach composition, open tunings etc. I won't show entire pieces and break them in parts; that will be too hard on Skype, but that's gonna be the purpose of a DVD.

    AD

  • Thanks for the offer my good Sir... but unfortunately i never have the time.. :(

  • Hi guys! If you play some fingerstyle, even you're not really advenced, don't be shy. As long as you're not a beginner and you don't know your basic cords...But if you need good exercices to develop a guitar style like mine or whoever fingerstyle player, that's for you!

    Cheers

    AD

  • I think a lot of people, including me, are intimidated by your awe inspiring playing =)

Like Mexicanpizza said are you still coming out with an instructional DVD? I would also buy that without hesitation.

  • Yeah I'll make an instructional dvd probably this year. It will be about teaching 2 songs broken in parts. The purpose of the dvd and the lessons are different.

    Cheers

  • Great idea! But I dont think Im ready just yet.

  • wow Antoine that's a good idea, but I think my level isn't enaugh... =( maybe later I HOPE =)

best wishes for the teaching and UAAAAA where is the Existence album???? :DDDDD

    respect

  • Ah perfect timing, I'm almost done with my horrible renditions of Trilogie and Drac&Friends! :D

Antoine, you rock man. Keep it up. I would pay for an instructional DVD from you in an _instant_.

  • my teacher charges $45 for a half hour...this is quite the deal. maybe a bit of a mistake putting this on youtube: I imagine the guy will be booked in a heartbeat

  • Actually his price is very reasonable considering his skill level. Many lessons in the DC area cost around $35 for half hour. Just the fact that you can get a lesson at this point for a reasonable price from someone as talented as Antoine is pretty cool. Good Luck Thanks doc dc

  • That's pretty darned cool. Not cheap, of course (and it shouldn't be!), but still potentially a very compelling proposition for anyone who has reached the point with their playing where they can benefit from some time spent with such a cutting edge guitarist.

  • P.S. Cool thumb point to the description.

  • That's true, pretty right on!!!

    AD

  • If you have time could you listen to a few of my tunes? I'd be interested in lessons just let me know if you think i'm ready :p

  • Awesome!!! You should post more practice technique videos when you get a chance. Once I get to that intermediate level I'll be sure and look into it =p

  • That's so awesome... I would do it, but I'm not good enough yet... That and it's a bit pricey, but totally worth it if I could keep up

  • nice... i gotta get myself skype!!

  • awesome!
