I have a lot of Sonora's recordings, always liked the fact that they always try to include a jazz tune. Thanks, I play some piano myself and I've learned listening to him.

I think those are his 4 most powerful latin jazz tunes, I might have to sit down 1 day and listen to all his instrumentals. Papo also recorded a few cuban and pure latin jazz cd's in the 90's outside of the Poncena band (he might've produced them too) and they also had some really beautiful stuff.

Love the 'swing' feel here, a key ingredient to jazz often absent in salsa music (the music of Sonora Poncena being one of few notable exceptions); Papo Lucca showing why he is so highly regarded as both a pianist and arranger. Always feel Fania All Stars were taken to even greater heights when he replaced Larry Harlow in 1978.
