i had my wii in 2008 and its still working fine. maybe because i dont use it very often, but i still play it once in a while.

It's the GPU. The GPU was damaged by overheating. U should keep the Wii on vertical position, and u shouldn't let the sun shine on it or play on a hot room.(use a fan or an air conditioner if the room is hot)

It was probably still within it's one-year warranty. If it breaks down within a year of purchase, Nintendo fixes it for free.

Dude, the same issue with me! I was playing Brawl then the music stopped but I could still hear sound effects, then I could hear my disc coming to a halt (Stopped rotating), and I can only play GameCube games for now until I get fixing money. :'(

luckily my ps3 survived my nfs pro street career one accident. i played a race and when it is about to save it froze :( i have fixed this and btw, poor wii. hope that doesent happen to my ps3 as others have had problems

Wiiconnect24 sucks, I don't even use it. Just keep it off and you're system will be fine.

my wii i left it on for like 2 months on wiiconnect24 thing now when i turn it on it wont show up on the TV and the only way to turn it off is to unplug it from the wall could someone pleas help

It's a bad heatsink. Wii overheated while in wiiconnect due to bad heatsink not doing job. Graphics card gets fried. (well something along the lines of that anyway).

Apparently there was only so many that had this problem though.

God to see your getting it repaired. Thought I'd just bring up the cause of the graphics problem. I've read enough about it.

I have some display problems too but its not that bad I have only seen black and white dots appearing what I would like to know is if once you return it to nintendo does it work fine and the problem is over or it just come back after a while?

My Wii has similar display problems, it shows some white and black textures like if it couldn't display well, especially in the Goron Mines Stage. I also guess it's not my TV or component cable.

It took a 2nd call to Nintendo, but I got the return order # and I'm sending it back for repair/replacement. I was quite surprised to see here on Youtube that a lot of other folks are having the same issue--I guess its not the TV.
