  • Todd Haberkorn? a Otaku!?!?!?!?! Awesome! I am a Otaku too..My friends (who don't watch anime at all! except one that I converted (she is obsessed with yaoi now XD) Think I am weird. I now want to glomp Todd..

  • LoL I thought it was something Hetalia related X'D

  • Man, I hate all these damn trolls, they r annoying as hell lol

  • I am americas number 1 otaku lol

  • LMAO is that Todd Haberkorn? @ 00:35

  • Personally, I'm glad they decided to make this. A lot of the anime/manga spots were pretty darn awesome. Just wish Tokyopop would re-open start publishing in the US again :/ So many projects they didn't get to finish..

  • i see a lot of negative comments about this show, did any of you watch it? I think it has a lot of negative feedback because they used the word otaku. And yes otaku is used in a negative connotation in japan. But i think a lot of people should take into account that when words are passed over to other cultures the context can change. And this series showed a lot of awesome anime/manga hot spots, talk about breaking stereotypes and it was just a good series i think.

  • @Oo666 lol weaboo and otaku and any non japanese that watch japanese anime should go and die

fucking gay ass shit fuck you all

  • @TheYosh96

Why are you here then? go bother others....

  • I love manga and anime, but what the fuck did I just watch?

The interviewer should learn how to pronounce "otaku" first...

Nice cosplayers at 0:30 though. Great Yukimura and Sasuke!

  • im the number 1 otaku mughhahahaha m,ugagagagaghahah

  • Otaku isn't a term only limited to anime, it's a word for someone who is very obsessed with something, whatever it might be.

  • otaku is more than just animefan

  • *Little know fact

a large amount of american otakus are also martial artists, and the have very vast weapons collections. If they are coming from a convention chances are they just bought something sharp and shiny.

Pick who you bully wisely ^^

  • Everyone, stop dbashing otaku >:U Its not funny, its bullying, and we otaku are just like you except for the fact that we are slightly "different" when it comes to our choices of entertainment. I would enjoy all the name callings of 'weeaboo' to stop and then everyone can go on happily with their lives. I never did anything to you, so stop being a toolbag to me. Thank you.

  • Is this the American version of Canada's Fanboy Confessionals?

  • wtf is this shit what america know otaku and japan culture

america fuck you i hate you i will go to canada

  • Oh no. Ohnonononono. This is real?

  • WHY DOES THIS CRAP EXIST!!?? damn weeaboos >:I

  • What the.....

This show has ruined my life, quite literally. WHY DID I HAVE TO SEARCH THIS OUT OF CURIOSITY? It's even on Hulu. I'm going to have to watch the whole show to see what it is.

  • Thank god tokyopop is dead no more of this shit!

  • What is this bullshittery?

  • @innrsakura18

    I agree.

    What is this bullshittery?

  • @innrsakura18 This is fucking hilarious.

  • They pronounce otaku wrong...... -.-

  • @KawaiiKyuki Pretty sure they didn't pronounce otaku wrong

    you also accidentally a word?

  • weeaboo weeaboo weeaboo weaabooo weeaboo weeaboo

    did anyone say weeaboo?

  • i hate the term "weebo"

  • Okay. I'll admit. I'm an Otaku. In more of the American sense of the word then the actual meaning... but whatever.

Why would you parade that around? Seriously.

  • I wish this got another season.

  • this is what happens when you take the internet and try to introduce it to the public

  • OMG ITALY! sorry i had to say that!

  • there are 280 and people fail in life!!!!

  • @theheavenwisher no u dumbshit.. 280 is for people think otakus are retarted and 120 are otakus.. u dont even know how to read the chart.. thats just fail.

  • @theheavenwisher 289 people actually do things other than watch cartooons all day.

  • i like manga & anime, but i'm not otaku :/ i'm only read/watching them just for fun

isnt otaku means nerd ? u think ppl in japan love otaku? no. they will think u r a freak

  • @empressofdepression u sir a smart person, to think that way.

  • Black mario XD

  • Look, think whatever you want. We 'otakus' are still going to read manga and watch anime anyways. Sure, we'll get offended by your harsh remarks and snap back, this is something you can debate and neither side will win because it's all oppinions! Manga and anime started out as just another form of art and media, but evolved into intense franchises with original storylines.

  • this is just the worst thing ever

  • people needs to know wats real and wats not real.. u dont learn anything out of anime its just another japanese propaganda turning people into retarts complete brain wash thinking they japanese. its all facts and if u think im wrong u not a very smart person in this world..

  • @kira4769 wow, I hate your comment so much that I felt the need to make my first reply to a comment ever in at least 10 years of watching youtube videos (me being 16). The first thing you wrote has absolutely no significance in it whatsoever because people do know what is real or not and even if they didn't, it would not matter. The second thing you wrote is completely false because I was not exactly great at English (the class) in elementary school, but now (a high-school student) I am in...

  • @magecodi100 (continued...) advanced classes thanks to things I learned from reading a few books, but mostly from video-games and television (the vast majority of it being anime for the past 5 years... at least). So my getting better in English, as well as my knowledge on many other subjects, completely disproves your accusation that you don't learn anything from anime. As for your statement that anime makes people think they are Japanese, all I have to say is that those people wish they were...

  • @magecodi100 (continued again...) Japanese, they don't think they are. Lastly, if you think that you can talk as poorly as that and then proceed to call other people stupid, you Sir, need to be taught a lesson. Without a doubt, I can factually say that anime does NOT turn people into retards and can, in fact, be used as a learning source for things besides the Japanese language and culture.

  • @magecodi100 are u fucking kidding me? you pretty much gave ppl ur lame life story on ur experience on these children cartoons. why are u still watching lame cartoons at this age? you srsly need to grow a pair of nuts or at least three judging from ur weak comment. ur only 16 and you think ur learning alot from anime.... what the hell is coming to our world? what happened to all the normal ppl? funny thing is that you think adults dressing up like kids is normal? learn to experiencetherealworld

  • @magecodi100 u hate my comment coz u know im right and u cant face the facts, not smart ,a clueless person dont know shit.. i say u should do some research befor u replyy to me coz i even feel stupid for u.

  • @kira4769 yes your japanese wannabe your name is kira

    i know it thanks dude

  • 276 dislikes? I think the problem here in America is that people refuse to accept people that are, and I'm not afraid to say it, different. Come on people. I know that Otaku is used as an insult in Japan. I do my research. I think us fellow anime lovers in America just enjoy being different, and to be completely honest, people can ridicule us and bash us as much as they want, we're STILL going to go home and watch our shows and read our books. Just lay off.

  • Ugh, sorry for my blasphemy but, I don't like otaku.......

But if one wins, good luck for a trip to Japan for just oneself. I like Japan, not just for anime, manga, or games. It is pointless to be an otaku, all they do is just keep the collection until it covers the dust. When they grow older, they just throw it in the bin or sell it. It's useless and a waste of time. Think about it all viewers, most people don't give a **** about being an otaku.

  • "...visited all kinds of cool "otaku spots" in each city"

Cool & Otaku are two words which really shouldn't be put together :\

  • Otaku's don't approve

  • Why would anyone be americas greatest otaku? Seriously?

  • @Nikotiini69 I KNOW!! No one gives a trash about such things. Anime, mangas, games, J-pop, cosplay...................... come on, for life, hell no. I'll be angry if people get involved with it. I saw the club called "Anime Club" and there are bunches of nerds, otakus, and weebos discussing about animes blah blah blah, no offense. But I had an otaku migraines!! DX

  • @nintendoandsega1990 Well actually what I meant was that the word otaku actually means some one seriously obsessed with something. Americunts think it is cool to be otaku lol. I watch anime but if someone said I was an otaku, I would fucking kick their ass :D

  • @Nikotiini69 So you're talking about me right? I don't mind that you can beat the hell out of me. BUT, I'm not 100% otaku, I'm perfectly aware of being like that. And yeah I watch anime as well, but I don't collect all the anime stuff. When I was a little boy I want to touch people's stuff and they don't let me. They yelled me to be quiet while watching, they're showing such weird cosplay for fun(which it's not for me). So I envied otaku and that's why I don't like and be like them, no offense.

  • @nintendoandsega1990 Then we come back to the question why would anyone want to be otaku or envy them? They are the lowest people in Japan society. Watching anime is ok there, but being otaku is not.

  • this show is actually pretty good : )

  • Scary........ and (uuuuuggggghhhhhhh) America's Weirdest Otaku........ =P

  • I cant decide if i should watch this or not.... either its gonna be epic, orrrr end up disastrous like most american television these days.... either way im gonna be jealous of all those cosplayers! ><

  • This is fucking awesome.

  • I don't hide my nerdy hobbies, but watching this looks...painful

  • LOL...i love how they say theyre an otaku proudly even though the japanese think that otakus are scum and use it as an insult!

  • @PraxstaRevolution

some Japanese use 'otaku' as a reclaimed world haha.

  • @PraxstaRevolution Its kinda like the n word or any other slur, we take it and use it as a positive getting rid of its negative affect =)

  • @PraxstaRevolution you have a japanese anime in you channel so your not the one to talk about nothing shut up and go back to you sad life

  • @TheYosh96 that doesn't mean i'm an otaku. And please don't talk about sad lifes when you just stalked a random person's chanel. Sort out your english,"you're not the one to talk about ANYTHING" is the correct term. If you're getting worked up by a simple comment obviously you need to burn some calories and get rid of that stress. So rather than telling me to go back to my sad life, stop stalking others and do everyone a favour and fuck off, kthxbai.

  • @PraxstaRevolution yeah i will take that if a guy how have a life and dont watch anime say it but you just so sad you're watching something never made for you anyway my life is so good and i am happy

  • @TheYosh96 seriously sort out your damn english, you barely make sense. I watch anime, problem? You're on a video which has to do with anime, you most likely watch anime or are just a weirdo who enjoys watching stuff that has nothing to do with your hobbies. Just because I watch anime doesn't mean i'm an otaku. And otaku is someone who is completely obsessed with anime, hentai, manga or video games. Otakus are seen as lowest of the lowies in Japan. Rephrase your comment and try and make sense.

  • @PraxstaRevolution thank god i dont watch anime but my brother do he is fucking gay shit like you

wtaching anime...otaku... they all the same thing to me

fucking gays how have no life that why they go and watch anime that never made for them

  • @TheYosh96 if you dont watch anime why are you watching this video? obviously you're not happy with youre life if your wasting time watching videos that you dont even like. Watching anime and being an otaku is the same thing to you, just shows how narrow-minded and ignorant you are. Why in the world are you including homos into this conversation? You're complete utter troll, go die in a hole. No one wants you here.

  • Does anyone know when episode 8 comes out?

  • fucking weeaboos

  • No. Just no.

  • This is just so much lol its should be illegal....

  • "No joke - we went across America and back!"

Yes, but the series itself is a joke, right? Right?

  • Letter for the AGO Contest: T

  • Did they really go to Albuquerque?

  • @xAupego Yes

  • Weaboo show!

  • And don't worry when you go to Japan and tell someone you are an otaku because you like this anime and that, they'll think it's cute and know what you mean by it. They can appreciate that it's coming from a different context. Don't underestimate intelligence of people in Japan.

  • Are those who are complaining about how the word Otaku is used here also complaining about how the Cosplay came to mean here? Are you going to stop that too? Unfortunately, you don't get to decide what a word means, especially slangs like otaku and cosplay. It's how people use, and it'll change by different time and culture and context.

  • Well who ever wins, I'll crown them as America's Greatest Weaboo.

  • Nigga.

    That's kawaii.

  • Americas greatest Otaku? They maybe be as Otaco as they want, but that doesn't bear any relevance to the title in question.

  • haha^^

  • Can I vote for Todd?

  • Whoever wins, we all lose.

  • Wait, that was voice actor Todd Haberkorn at 00:35. :O

  • And Now We Just Need Britan's Greatest Otaku...And We're Sorted....

  • Thumbs down for mentioning HULU!

  • I'M AMERICA'S GREATEST OHTAHKUUU.

  • i hate that ""proud for being an otaku" thing.

no need to show off your powerlevels.

its like saying "im proud being someone who likes books!" (or movies, comics etc)

..goddamnit just treat it like a normal thing will you?

  • I cringed at every second of that trailer.

  • this is why tokyopop is going down...

  • I really for sorry for the guy driving that bus.

  • It's funny how people try to tell others how they are using a word wrong while him/ herself exercising the First Amendment.

  • otaku = freak. literally.

  • So that's what they were filming at Otakon. O.O; Ugh...

  • "Otaku"...you keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.

  • TOSHI <3

  • maximum autism

  • asian cosplayers are still the best IMO.

  • "america's best obsessed person"...

    WHY.jpg

  • I'm otaku and i don't care. People can go smoke their weed, kill virtual soldiers, and enjoy their justin bieber for all i care. we stick to somthing we like without embarrasment. Many of the otakus i know are the nicest people i know, while my other friends try to act all preppy and cool.

yea i know sometimes otakus go way overboard, but id rather be titled "otaku" than "american"

  • @idaho777 fat ass

  • @moistgorilla1 skinnier than you gorilla

  • @idaho777 I like anime too buy only my very close friends know about that. lol

  • this is making my kidneys hurt

  • America's Greatest NEET

  • i dont know why Americans can admit to being an otaku if my girl find out the reason i haven't been calling her was because i have been reading manga and watching animes she'll maybe break my neck saying [ I TAUGHT YOU WERE CHEATING ON ME YOU BASTARD]

  • Best. Trailer. EVAR!!

  • wow. fail?

  • WHY

  • Weeaboos, weeaboos everywhere ._,

  • .......why? There is nothing positive about being labeled "an Otaku"

  • @HikariBun Depends on how you define it.

  • @deadlymassacre1

What do you mean? It means someone who's way obsessed with something (be it anime, trains, middle aged men) beyond healthy levels. Westerners may say it means "anime fan" but the true meaning of it is far from positive.

  • @HikariBun I for one, have lived in Japan for 7 years now (I'm 14) and then other 7 in the USA. In the USA my friends who I've kept in touch with consider an Otaku as extremely negative in meaning and used to refer to someone who stays at home all the time and doesn't have a life. In Japan, most people I know use Otaku to refer to people with obsessive interests, particularly anime, manga, and video games.

  • Even Densha otoko shows more true Otakus than this... and that was a novel/movie/drama/manga!

  • I love the fact that the term "Otaku" has been taken on with a different meaning in the west. If you went to Japan and said to someone "I am an Otaku" they would either laugh at you or walk away with embarrassment, as its not a good thing to be an Otaku in Japanese culture. And you won't find the greatest Otaku outside, the greatest will be inside their house watching anime or playing eroge all day and night. A Hikikomori is the ultimate Otaku.

  • @spudracula indeed this is true

  • @spudracula THUMBS EFFING UP DUDE!

  • There are no true Otakus in this garbage. Where's the train otaku, the weapons otaku, or even the space otaku? It's really meant as a connotation for "Obsessive hobbyist".

This is just some minstrel show of animefaggots embarrassing themselves.

  • @KawaiiDesuNekoBCSK I agree lol they totally defined otaku wrong with this

and why no NW/SE states? I'm pretty sure there are otakus there

  • @QSPyeeun Because real otakus are shutins who wouldn't dream of going to a minstrel production like this.

I should know, I'm one of them.

  • @KawaiiDesuNekoBCSK Though I'm pretty sure about the second half of that statement, I would think there are some "closet" otakus that are not shutins.

  • @QSPyeeun I don't doubt that, as I am not actually a true hikkomori. Whenever I am forced to go outside, absolutely nobody knows about my dark secrets.

  • @KawaiiDesuNekoBCSK I guess there's different kinds of otakus since some aren't complete hikkimori.

  • @Reno750 Fuck off, poser.

  • @KawaiiDesuNekoBCSK *poses*

  • @Reno750 Eat shit.

  • @KawaiiDesuNekoBCSK With all due respect, I choose to not eat shit. But you yourself is entirely free to do so.

  • @Reno750 You're doing it right now, you stupid shiteater.

  • @KawaiiDesuNekoBCSK Lol u mad weaboo?

  • @Reno750 You can't even spell weeaboo correctly. How disappointing.

  • @KawaiiDesuNekoBCSK Grammar nazi weaboos? lololol

  • @Reno750 Are you a nigger?

    PLEEAAAAAAAAAAASE

  • >Otaku

    >America

    HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA.

Oh wait you're serious let me laugh even harder.

  • @Rodimus1138 Best. Bender quote. Ever. EVER!

  • Weeaboos doesn't know what "otaku" really means... So bad...

  • Apparently Otaku don't live in the snow belt north of I-80 dispite all the different con's there! can't be anything but boring any way! "Otaku" for the Japanese is an insult not a leasure time life style. Just another poke fun at the dumb Americans show...so sad.

  • Fucking hell this show is going to be cringeworthy.

  • NOW I'VE LOST IT

  • @Trelane22 I KNOW I CAN KILL

  • 0:33

    Yup, I believe it.

  • They should just call this America's Biggest Weeaboo.

  • Sigh, ughh.

  • this show cured my ass cancer and gave me AIDS.

  • ugh god.

    ugh

  • Comment removed

  • Man... I'm worried this will give anime/manga/convention goer's a bad name. Quite a few people don't know about anime and manga in the first place, and if this show only showcases the extremely obsessive and crazy fans... This is going to give us an extremely bad name. What are the chances of them showing the people who work hard and put effort into every little detail of their cosplay versus the obsessive crazy fans that will pull in more viewers?

  • There shouldn't be an "America's Greatest Otaku" to begin with. Its arrogant, imprudent, and counterproductive to the Anime/Manga community as a whole. You don't see people from American cartoon/comic book aisle pulling off this maneuver. I rather see Tokyopop market their manga licenses on cereal boxes than pull of this sh#t.

  • I wonder if I would qualify as Americas greatest otaku....Nah...Id probably come in like 7th

  • hope for humanity officially dead

  • I'll watch it. Though I must say that what are the chances of ACTUALLY finding the biggest Otaku of America when TP only goes to 20 cities?

  • OUTAKOU,

    lol learn to spell faggots
